The sheer emotion here; he makes you feel the heartbreak. I really can't wait to see what's next with him, and VoicePlay. He's so incredibly talented!

I remember when this song came out. It created a mood. As a kid when I heard it, was in my grandparents' house Saturday morning in the country w/ my grandmother cleaning. I recall hearing it on the radio being isolated in the parlor with the sun streaming through the windows as grandmother cleaned or if good day, outside washing the car w/ my grandfather & he had the radio on.
He did the video in an empty house w/ the sun streaming through. Which brought back vivid positive memories.
Elvis, Michael Jackson & Whitney impersonators practice the songs & sing exactly how they sang the notes & stylings. But, when one does a cover, it's hard because not to sound exactly as if mimicking but try to put a spin & still honor the song. I enjoyed his spin on this song, others may not. It's unique yet keeps the hauntings of the mood still there.
I love both Home free & VoicePlay & Geoff's musings. I think for me this is one of the top solos he's done & that's impressive as I love his solos.
All these people are talented & each song they do individually & as a group been fortunate for us all to hear. I've stated my dream is to have Geoff, Avi & Tim do a trio together. Curious what that would sound like.

You mentioned that you wished he had dropped in one of those super low notes, but I'm kind of glad he didn't for this one - as much as I love and enjoy those, I think it would have distracted from the emotion. Sometimes it's better to subvert expectations. It was fantastic to hear more of his beautiful voice throughout his mid and upper register. Also, his acting was A+ in this. I really wanted to give him a hug in the end - he seemed so heartbroken. I think this is my new favourite from him.

Great reaction, Dave. That drop to A1 at about 3:30 on yours and 1:30 in the original is - no question - the most beautiful low note I've ever heard. It's not the depth, but the incredible resonance and roundness in the tone that did me in.

But I also wait for some of my favorite reactors 👆🏾to watch because I just can’t wait to see their faces. 🤯Because I know that I don’t do as good a stank face as you do but I know that my expressions must’ve been very similar. How could they not be? He is a force of nature.
I loved that tone in his voice when he hit the low notes and he sustained and sang quite a bit at that level. That’s kind of a new thing for him - to not do the big drops and I thought it was really really effective for this song. It just goes so well with that feeling of angst that he portrays. It just makes me so sad. He looks so bereft.😢

He's grown up in Florida. He's performed in the shows at Universal & I think Disney and think did some voiceovers.
I don't know as much as I would like about VoicePlay & Home Free. Meaning I enjoy their songs & reading about history through fans have a lot of knowledge.
I have to state karma/timing have played a lot in their lives. It may not seem like it but it has. Layne & he have arranged for the group & the individual projects with Layne also creating the videos.
Luck, timing, karma & kismet helped these groups:
Pentatonix 3 founders were in high school together & sang. They went their separate ways going to different colleges. Had the one hadn't joined a college a capella group & seen the Sing-Off audition poster wouldn't be the group today.
He contacted & convinced his friends to form a group for it. Weeks before the audition they did adding an exceptional bass Avi Kaplan & Kevin Olusola. They scrambled figure out their style & songs. First try they made it onto the show & the rest is history winning that year.
Then they kept pushing themselves becoming the highest social media a capella darlings w/ over billion views & million something subscribers. They set the pace showing others these novices can earn better $ than those in the past doing this.
Home Free were rejected twice. A couple of the members left after for various reasons after the 2nd try. They weren't full timers at that time, then decided to try to go fulltime. When made choice, able to add Tim & Austin from other states to group. 3rd time with them added, got accepted for the Sing-Off & won that year.
VoicePlay was accepted the year Home Free did (honestly don't know if auditioned prior to that). They had been touring too.
This is going to sound weird but watching that year they added Honey LaRochelle for the Sing-Off. She's a fantastic singer, but in my opinion sounded too much like Earl Elkins it changed their overall sound. They didn't have the polished seasoned harmony blend I know they have. Guessing, maybe wanted to do what Pentatonix did bringing in a lone female? They placed 6th.
Songs/arrangements on any singing show separates winners & contenders. They had a great sound but the shows they picked didn't do them justice. Meanwhile Home Free used a lot of their songs from repertoire & able to shine. I think if used some of their other songs would have placed higher, dare say win?
Repeat, I think timing was the best magic for them.
    1) If Home Free/VoicePlay competed directed w/ Pentantonix or the years before or years after might not have gained the popularity.
    2) The tour they went on after the season of the show, majority of the groups (not all) went on it. During the show competing, then touring time was spent in fellowship networking, developing friendships & collaborations.
Geoff arranged Elvira for Home Free, Robb Lundquist did a video w/ them, Avi worked with Home Free, VoicePlay even did a mashup they never performed on the show releasing it to video. Adam Chance was connected later becoming part of the group from his a capella group. I think somehow, they learned social media setups.
It's nice to see them burgeoning & developing their craft & get paid for it. This wasn't an avenue stream 10 years ago. I'm assuming they're able to make more $ than before. When the 'C' swept through, live groups were suffering. This changed social media & their marketability. it enabled them to do individual projects & group songs/videos. I think Home Free & VoicePlay have been very productive during this time on Pantheon(?) & YT.
Now can tour w/ plethora of fans from their productions. I think their visibility has increased with not just their work but reaction videos too over times. Seeing Geoff, Austin, & Tim do various projects w/ others & themselves is like watching when 45s & then LPs hit the scene. I can't go to concerts for various reasons, but can see them perform on video @ any given time.
I wish Geoff & all of them the best. It's been hard earned & well deserved. They followed their dreams & I believe being 'good' people through all this, is their just rewards.
