Do it, just go for it. If I didn’t recently buy the Vintera 50s p and the classic vibe 60s p shortly before that I would be putting this thing in my cart as we speak. I just can’t justify another purchase at the moment but if you can I would definitely go for this , I have always GASSED for something with stack knobs and with the killer 54 gold pick guard and control plate. Go for it.
@@donnix768 I'm new to bass, fo you think it's best to go for this or one with PJ so as to also get that p bass tone? Also I've considered humbuckers. IThough at home I'm not getting any hum on my single coils i worry that i might if I'm in a different venue? But i LOVE the look and sound of these! Also you can upgrade the pickups and pots right?
@@ipuya I bought the butterscotch version of this same bass last year. You can get a similar sound to a P bass through the neck pickup and blend in the bridge pickup to you preference. You can definitely swap out the pickups and pots. I did change the pickups and it was easy to get to. It's hard to go wrong with these. I have more expensive and "better" basses, but choose this Squier more than the others.
I just purchased the “player series” P so I’m not in the market, but I’d get this in a second. It looks great, sounds great and it has a belly cut and stacked controls? Yeah Dude!
@@ASM881 Which color finish and fretboard player p bass did you get?? I really like the buttercream with the maple fretboard. I’m not in the market either nowadays as well because I recently bought a Vintera series 50s p bass in seafoam green. It is a great bass and true to vintage era specs, it has the gold anodized pick guard, maple fretboard, 1.75 inches(1and 3/4) width at the nut.
By far the best Squier bass I've ever owned. The only thing I'm considering upgrading are the tuning machines. I love the tone of the Alnico 5 pickups, and concentric volume and tone controls. Great bass and awesome demo.
I just bought my girlfriend the paranormal offset telecaster and I’m gonna be getting this bass for myself, very impressed with the sound and design, had no idea you had that much control from each pickup, I don’t think I’ve seen that before. Can’t wait to play it
Think that this is one of the best models that Squier came up with recently, very nice p bass tone on a neck pickup.I do have this bass and just love it, the tone of this alnico pickups is just perfect, the neck is nice and anodized pickgaurd is just amazing.Did a few videos with this bass you can find it on my channel.
I've played a '71 Jazz Bass since the 80s but this thing here really has my attention because the concentric pots allow you to control the tonal output of each pickup separately, something you haven't been able to do since the very earliest design '60 Jazz Basses. That and I've always had a hard-on for anything that makes a nod to or any Tele looking Basses even though most of them sound like Muddy Crap except for the Single Coil ones from the '60s.
I own a 1st gen version in white. I slapped on a hi mass bridge, the 60s reversible tuners(long stem) and a new nut. The thing rips well! You wouldn’t be disappointed if you bought!
I love how he said that with the stacked knobs you can get tons of unique tones out of this bass, and then as a demonstration only demonstrated tones you can out of a normal 3 knob jazz bass 🤣 Literally had me cracking up.
Seriously... Can't they hear that?? The fret buzz was horrendous. Raise the action, level the frets, replace and re-slot the nut... DO SOMETHING. It sounded good for the few notes that were clean.
Bought one of these 2 days ago, I mean OK, it was $575 bucks, but can y'all please give up the 50 cent bent plate Squier bridge on every model you sell? I had to order a Gotoh 203B before I even left the store with the bass, you can do better, seriously, those Squier bridges are the worst.
Good to see you again, Pete Griffin
I always knew Frodo Baggins was a Fender guy. Great review, I'll definitely be checking this out when they come in stock. More of Pete please!
Looks like a cross between Frodo and rick grimes. Not a bad combination.
I'm so close the pulling the trigger on this. Those stacked knobs are the main selling point. And the looks of course

Great video and I have to admit that that bass sounds beautiful and versatile. I want it.
I had thought about doing a 51' style jazz hybrid bass build years ago when I was 17. Cool to see it become a reality.
I've never actually owned a Jazz bass in over fifty years of playing. Now I'm not so sure, this is real nice...

this would be sick with dual p bass pickups!
It’s been a while since they released the blacktop series. Had one, got rid of it, wish I still had it.
If you think about it, It already has dual p bass pickups
Your voice is IDENTICAL to Andy from Pro Guitar Shop.
I just want the stacked knob Jazz Bass in a flash coat lacquer. Bring back the American Vintage line I'm sure its in high demand
Holy crap Peter griffin playing the jazz bass 54???
Holy crap, Lois, this is friggin' sweet
Sounds and looks cool. I'll have to check one out in person if I can find one in the wild.
I am from brasil very nice your channel ,fender amazing !!sorry no speak english, bad english my english
I have the blonde version of this bass. It's one of the better Squier models
Same, I'm glad I bought it- was a helluva deal for $400.
How's the weight and is it balanced?
I wish there was a stock rosewood neck option, good thing they’re moddable I guess
Unfortunately rosewood is in danger of extinction, which is why Fender and other brands of instruments no longer use that wood.
BUT YOU CAN UPGRADE IT TP ROASTED MAPLW
Fender makes the best bass guitars.
When u say modable does that mean bridge has standard fender screw holes?
Does this have 70s bridge pickup positioning like on the Geddy Lee signatures? Looks like it
I have one and sadly no
Super nice bass.
Great sound, thanx for this video. 🇧🇷👍🏻
You are a great player!!!
anyone know if he just made that up at the beginning? that was really dope.
his name's pete griffin
anyone know what these pickups are based off or are supposed to sound closest to?? example like a 60's jazz bass or something.
ehm, there is that pickguard as a replacement part in fender ecommerce? 😍😍
I need it!
Nice

I was thinking exactly the same thing. SMH
Rick Grimes?
Did he says Pete Griphin?
Is a shame they discontinued this model : (😢
All I hear is string noise and clicky fretboard noise when the tone isn't all the way down!
Seriously... Can't they hear that?? The fret buzz was horrendous. Raise the action, level the frets, replace and re-slot the nut... DO SOMETHING. It sounded good for the few notes that were clean.
@@jayblow77 They are bright pickups, roll back the tone a bit is all you have to do and adjust the truss rod slightly
Should stick a third pickup at the neck ! ! !
But everybody had Jbass and Pbass, so what’s the point? A new pick guard ?
Concentric knobs and the tele aesthetic I guess
@@possibly8180 These setting almost the same as my 1995 MIM active JB Pbass with same pickguard, so nothing new just downgraded to sub brand.
@@UCEg7z1wK no downgrade, this thing plays as good and even better than my MIM basses

Shut up and take my money!!!
