These were a hot item at introduction but the local guitar center had a used one that (until recently) sat for months. It was indeed heavier than I expected.
Great advice I just went from Ibanez to Squire Jazz Bass. I like the sound of this Jazz Bass but I might return it because I like playing all types of music such as Cumbias, Salsa , some funk , and of course some rock & roll. What do you think did I make the right choice??
Don't know if you made the right choice, but I fell in with some Latin musicians a couple of years ago and have really gotten into cumbia and salsa too. I exclusively use p-bass with flatwounds for that stuff. I also have a strip of sponge under the strings next to the bridge to shorten sustain. It blends great with all the percussion.
- I’m also not a fan of the looks. 9lbs isn’t terrible for me. I have a 9.7lb G&L I bought in 1984. That’s starting to be a bit much for long stints. 8.5lb is preferred.
"I think it's kinda ugly... maybe I could get used to it" Why would anyone want to? There are so many beautiful basses available. And at $429 (and 99 cents 😉) you could do so much better. Major guitar retailers are blowing out 2022 Squier 40th Anniversary basses for $300. Better basses by every single measure. And those 40th basses are absolutely gorgeous 🥰 Love your honest opinions Bob. Thanks again for another video.
I know that you have mentioned that about some of the Squier hardware. I don't disagree. But the Squier 40th Anniversary stuff is on a different level. I do agree that the Paranormal sounded good, but let's be honest Bob, you could make anything sound good. I would like to have you demo the Squier Paranormal Rascal Bass HH if you have the opportunity. Now that one just looks cool (and the Sherwood green is speaking to me). Thanks again Bob.
@@kenbuffie2877 this bass guitar sounds better and plays better than my 40th Anniversary squier jazz bass guitar I have it's ruby red with gold plate hardware anodized pickard it's lightweight because of the body wood and the fretboard is Indian larol wood and it looks great but this bass place higher quality and is heveyer and plays like a great dream 👌 I have it in butterscotch blonde
Ha! I knew the first dislike was going to be the weight😂 I have to say, I really like the look of this bass though. Thank you for another great review, buddy🤙🏼
Hi Bob. I find it really ugly ! And it does not mean anything to give the look of the oldest Fenders to a kind of modern Jazzbass... But I must say that I've been surprised by the sound I've heard in your video. I did not imagine that it would be so good.

Hey Bob, yeah I avoided picking this one up but was pleasantly surprised by the feel and sound.
I have one butterscotch blonde 😊
I had one, I liked the look and build, however I didn’t like the pickups too much. I couldn’t get much warmth from them, bright and thin sounding.
Hey Dearest, I thought it was kind of a standard jazz bass sound. What are you playing now?
@@BobBlackBass A Schecter P4 Exotic and a Sterling Ray 35 mostly
I really like this bass.... i have it's younger brother also the rascal......
Cool!
That's a nice sounding bass
Hey Steven, I thought so too but not crazy about the looks

I think I am going to return this and get PB but will will buy if made Indonesia? Or what is first choice is made?
Hey Steve, the jazz bass is good for all types of music
That's a tried and true sound!
Hey Ken, lots of good stuff coming out of Indonesia these days

Yeah, 8.5 is the upper limit for me.

Hey Ken, I hear what you're saying. I did think it sounded pretty good though. I've had problems with Squier hardware in the past.

It's not bad if you can get a lighter one.
