I'm currently in a bad situation where I have to move out of my family's home asap for my own safety, I don't have the luxury to wait and prepare a lot, so this information really helps! Thank you so much! (UPDATE: Thank you all for the likes and positivity, I've finally got my foot in the damn door! The lease is signed, the down payment is paid! No matter how long the struggle seems, the mind plays tricks on you-- the journey ends so much quicker than it started.)
My apartment in Arizona back early 1990s cost me $165/month with a shared roommate. It was two blocks away from Arizona State University. Today it rents for $1,400. Just insane how much these have gone up in price. And, naturally, minimum wage from then to today is pretty much the same.
And the fact that there are WAAYY more apartments now, yet they are somehow way more expensive than before, makes 0 sense, do you not see how many apartment blocks are being built these days constantly, how are they more expensive!?!?!?
Going and looking in person is so valuable. The place I live in now had bad pictures and didnt look nice in the listing. This was just because the agent was an old lady and didnt know how to take good photos. So the property had little interest and I got a steal on it.
Thank you for this great information 🙌🏼 I graduated from a community college last year and will be transferring to a university in August. Im 21 years old and decided to look for an apartment instead of living at the dorms. This information will definitely help me and is a learning experience for me especially coming from a low income family
Watching these videos to get myself ready. I wanted to move out now but sadly I got laid off from work before the holidays and am now unemployed while trying to find another job. Once I land more work again I'll be able to get the paystubs ready to go. Doesn't help being in NJ with the rents being bs.
I’ve had 3 apartments already throughout a span of 10 years. I’m getting my 4th soon. Great video even if it’s not your first apartment. Thank you for the tips!
I’ve avoided paying for an apartment most of my life. I’ve squatted in many places and have saved a lot of money. I know how much of a waste it is to pay for a roof over my head. It’s not easy, but it can be done and save you so much money.
I didn't move out until I was 31. I'm currently living in my first apartment. Wish I would have stayed with my parents maybe an extra year or two to save up for a downpayment on a home then moved out. I was under the impression rent stayed the same for a few years but my rent went from $534- $715 in 5 years. I would have never rented my current apartment for $715 if it was that much in the beginning. I originally wanted to move out to get more space from my parents and to throw parties but only one friend ever came over which is a bummer. I see this as a learning experience.
I just finished college and am currently moving back in with my folks to save up money to move back out. Do you think an apartment is even worth it really? Or saving up for a house is better? I’ve had one apartment so far but it was more of style college setting with only college kids.
@@eligreg99 I actually do videos on my channel about this topic. If your only going to live in a town for a couple years then apartment is better. If I was in your shoes I would stay with my parents until I had enough money to make a downpayment on a home.
Very helpful video ❤ getting an apartment is so stressful lol especially when getting w2, paystubs and bank statements I had to pay an online vendor for help
Finally out of school and moving out between march and may. Glad i waited because before I would've moved with bare minimum. Atleast now I'm planning out my bachelor pad
man i wish i had the option to move out when I'm ready and have a stable income, my parents want me out asap, I just turned 18 two days ago and I don't have a job, because they wanted me to focus on school, but now they want me out :(
Most people I knew my age got their first apartment with roommates. I was smart and didn’t get roommates. I also made sure I was making 3x or 4x the money then what my rent would cost me. Another thing is always have good affordable reliable renters insurance. If something happens to the property that not your fault you can have insurance to cover it.
I always wanted to know for anyone that may have a side hustle or more than one while having a 9-5 or even those without a 9-5 but have a few or multiple streams of income on how they actually figure out and be creative with what pays for what (ebay paying for utilities, ebook pays for car insurance). I'm someone who's planning to have more than one income stream and see these idea memes Insta so perhaps I'd like to know your insight or one day make a video on it because I don't see anyone else doing so. Appreciated!🖤
How do I check the market around the apartment? I am researching before getting a place for the first time. It will be both a friend and me getting an apartment together.
Can someone tell me how to get away with 3x the rent requirements. I think this system is ridiculous because i barely make x2.5 the rent on paycheck stub. Please point me the right direction 🙏
Apartments and homes are so expensive now that I have to wait until I graduate college and get into a career save for a year living in my parents home and then move out it absolutely sucks I can’t afford anything with minimum wage it is a crap situation thankfully I have supportive parents
Coming out of college. This is my first apartment 2 bedroom with a roommate so rent is split. My budget was at max $1500/2. I am employed full time. But didn’t make 3x the rent. We needed a guarantor for it. Still in the process. What do you think?

Well a good credit score shows how reliable you are with paying your bills and money, that will give you a better chance at being approved for an even better apartment. Rougher complexes tend to have a lower credit score requirement, it works kinda like a high school GPA expect it's more tangible.

Exactly! I'm still pretty stressed about it though.
Getting an apartment before you are 100% ready can kinda force you to grind tho and learn to work hard
The outcome of your mentality is going to be solid
I did this when I moved to Colorado was to busy working and grinding I didn’t get to enjoy the fact I had that apartment
agree with this, however nothing wrong with doing some research
Work smart, not hard
