Few yrs ago I was homeless and walked on average 40 miles a day, every day for 6 months. II've always been athletic, but I walked so much I caused permanent damage to the bone in bottom of left foot. It now hurts while just standing on it for anything over 2 hours
I never knew how important shoes were until I started long distance hikes and runs. But it does do a number on your feet. I'm missing more toe nails than I have left. I average about 200+ miles a month. Still can't wrap my head around what this guy did. I've done Mount Whitney in a day, I've done Rim to Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon 47miles , down up and down and up again. That's a decent push.
Wales is a really nice country. Being English I have been to watch rugby against Wales but also cricket with England and Wales being the same team vs the world.

I completely understand the feeling of nothing at the finish. I can't compare to his amazing expedition, but I have done 2 10 day expeditions in the Rockies, covered 150 miles and 5 mountains peaked. It was an amazing experience but the last day isn't as exciting as everything you just completed so it's kind of a bit of a strange feeling.

Try solo on boat anchored off far from shore, big storm... And wake up to some animal moving by you, Turn on flashlight to fight its a bag of chips floating by you on 2 ft of water... Bilge pumps going, not fast enough Try to start boat, dead. Finally get boat started, accelerate.... Water gets pushed back and COVERS the batteries and blows fuses... Dead in water, pitch black, no lights, you're sinking, nothing works... Meanwhile rain lightning not easing up. That wasn't as bad as a few other times, being thrown into rocky shore, boat stuck, no ONE on the water cause storm... Each wave hits the boat and tilts it sideways up, like 2000 gallon aquarium dumped into the boat each wave. Or of boat almost sinking, 4-5ft waves IN THE,RIVER, nor even the main lake with 180ft depth., no shelter, your 3 anchorlines snapped, 1800lb test brand new mule tape rope... Blah.
Hardest geezer from the Uk is about to complete the mammoth task of running across Africa! All recorded on strada! Shockingly only raised 200k and hardly no media attention! He deserves an episode like this
