Really enjoyed the podcast. I’m a uk hiker and already use the idea of splitting my hiking day into 2 hour stints. I don’t worry too much about the mileage as I know, for me, at my current fitness level and with health conditions I have, 8 hours is the sweet spot to ensure I have done enough but then have enough for the next day. Hadn’t thought about stopping for evening meal an hour out from camp. I like the idea and will try it but reckon much will depend on the weather, it rains a lot here even in summer 😂.

Love this information, I just got used to 12 mile day hikes over in South Carolina and I have the goal to do section hikes of the smokey mountain portion of the Appalachian trail next year.
    Thanks for giving actionable tips!

Been enjoying the podcast! Turning 50 this year and just getting back into backpacking since my 20s. Actually signed up for the 100 mile challenge and having some tips and structure to getting my body back into shape has been a big help. I really just felt like this was a marketing tool for you guys and I guess it is to some extent, but a lot of good info has come along with it. Also very enjoyable hearing about you guys adventures. Never knew outdoor vitals even existed until watching your 100 mile AT hike on UA-cam. Has caused me to buy some OV gear along the way as well. Lol. Keep doing your thing.

Biggest day so far is 13, but I think I could pull a 20 if I force myself to break and stretch every 2.5. Maybe big breaks every 5 miles with shoes off. I’d love to slow my pace as well . . . Maybe 2.5-3 mph vs 3.5. The big OV100 mile hike I have planned won’t give me the opportunity for a 20 mile day, but perhaps I can work one into the shakedown hikes.
