      @@alhermid4513 funny bc he exposed that the US was doing the shit that Russia does. Spies on its own citizens. Russia is at least open about it. The US masked it under the guise of spying on 'terrorists'. The shit the US doing was illegal but they tried justifying it bc of the broad sweeping powers of the patriot act. They continually lied about what they were doing and what information was being collected. If it was a regular company he outed he would of been labeled a whistle-blower and congratulated. Bc it was the government he's labeled a traitor. Mind you I'm a supporter of the CIA and kind of just playing devils advocate. I'm of the opinion that governments across the world are always doing shady shit whether it's run by dictator or democracy and you don't get to be the power player that the US is without knowing and doing very shady shit. The vast majority of people don't give two shits if the government collects their emails or listens to their phone calls as long as they can live their lives the way they want to. We can do that bc the government is so powerful. People just don't like hearing how they maintain that power.

      Even if everyone agrees that Snowden acted ethically, the government can't allow any instances of "sharing classified information" to be tolerated otherwise it would be used as a foothold for future leaks. He knew this would be the outcome before he chose to leak the information. It's just the way it is and I doubt this will change within our lifetime.

Classified or not as long as you have a reason to believe that your employer violated the law you're immune to the repercussions of said crime. Interesting how these acts don't apply to Snowden but apply to the whistleblower in the Trump & Ukraine phone call scandal which by the way phone calls between heads of state tend to always be classified talks. Not concerned with our well being as a country. He's only concerned with what more he can get for himself as POTUS. Not to mention that being elected again may keep him out of prison. He's corrupted morally and physically.

      Now you're parroting the Kremlin/Snowden's line also like a sheep good job. Of the 1.5 million documents Snowden sold for a life of fame and adventure, nearly 100% of them were US _foreign intelligence_ ... Almost none of what he revealed was related to the NSA's domestic spying. He threw that breadcrumb in so that he can portray himself as this heroic figure, man of the people type... it's all such BS. He abandoned one country's intelligence apparatus for another's (which also does mass surveillance of its citizens).

      @Halofilmsman 4 роки тому

      Rico Had they truly believed that then there would zero use for the protect America act and the very deliberate documents changes after being released to the public. It’s clear the government knew they were committing unethical spying but was tried to play it off. Snowden being a high ranking official and making quite the pay felt obligated to let reporters know what was going on after he submitted the files. Now it was the news sites that actually leaked what we saw and not everything made it to the public eye. You could argue that he should have done it anonymously or in a different way but point is he has a death order on his head to this very day because he wanted to let us know. 4 years later most people are at least semi aware of the fact they are being tracked and apps now have the courtesy of saying as much but that’s in large part due to this massive leak. Had he not done the leak we 100% wouldn’t even be aware and to this day there’s no telling what else is being done behind our backs.

    • @Halofilmsman
      @Halofilmsman 4 роки тому

      Rico that’s my point considering his position there was no other way of leaking the info without being made a fool and disregarded. He didn’t choose to go to Russia but considering the USA cancelled his passport and he had a kill order pretty much every country in the world would comply and arrest him so he fled to the one place America won’t step foot in. He has vocalized how he doesn’t like how things are in Russia and Putin is not great but again in his circumstances you make do with what you can. Towards the end of the interview he mentions how from time to time classified documents become declassified (he said classified document have redacted sections while declassified ones do not but they are the same) they were different from what he had read in his office. To my knowledge no arrests were made. Knowing all of this you still believe the government was in the right here?

    In the mid to late 1970’s I was in the USAF stationed at Hickam AFB which is separated from the Navy Base at Pearl Harbor by a chain link fence. I had a Top Secret clearance and worked at night where my only job was to transmit and receive a fax that verified the codes for the next 24 hours were set and verified by another Top Secret facility somewhere in the world. I typically would send the fax to a facility in Germany 🇩🇪 and that guy would fax back that he received my fax and all was good. I even drew a picture on the fax of a guy surfing which the guy in Germany enjoyed and he always sent back a joke. The scary part was the building I was in was extremely secured and information was everywhere. I also had to open a safe that was very large and I had to walk inside to get this nightly information. In there was an unbelievable amount of information scheduled to be sent to every Top Secret facility the US had. It was a scary place and job. I started to get extremely anxious and afraid. After about 8 months doing this I went to the PACAF HEADQUARTERS and quit! I could no longer take because I started reading the information that was going to be transmitted when the new codes were set. It was truly SCARY. I’M now a 70yo veteran and a retired Corporate Pilot and hearing Snowden talk brought back very bad memories.
