  • The fate of our vivarium lies in your hands as you get to decide wether this ferocious and species is allowed to stay inside or not, being a possible threat to other inhabitants. As we discover their current life and behaviors as a small starting colony within, for the moment.
    Thank you for watching and have a fANTastic day!
    Nordic ants.

    I never stop being amazed by your vivariums, great work! About the aphids, you could have roses and black crazy ants (paratrechina), crazy ants love aphids, and aphids love roses as far as my rose bushes know.
    I vote you let the argentinian ants live in the vivarium.
    Also, how do you keep the water so clear?

    14:23 those spiders are called lynx spiders, they are mostly found in people's gardens and mostly feed on smaller spiders, grasshoppers, butterflies, bees and other bugs that they can eat.

    I love how you see the ant keeping. You put other species of ants, predator and pother instects together its really amazing that ecosystem thrive or die within your vivarium. If you uploaded more frequntly you would be definitely one of the most interesting ants channel.

    I LOVE watching ants in "Vivariums", much more than ants in regular set ups or regular terrariums or palidariums.
    I love alle the big ant channels: AntsAustralia, AntsCanada, but now Nordic ants is my favorite! (still amazed buy antsAustralias Macroshots, and antscanadas contribution to the antkeeping world, but I hope you will keep uploading each week if possible!
    Antlove from Norway, wrote this in english so more people could understand, go Nordic ants!

    I've also kept vivariums, since I was a child. The best of them are the daily surprises that you unintentionally discover inside it. Today I keep a small shallow 12 gallon tropical tank (200mm height). Mine has a glass cover with a 2mm opening on the sides (upper edges) for breathing, which is aided by a small cooling fan in the cover top. To the extent that it is possible for me, that there is still space inside and that the species conform to the biome (a representation of the surroundings of where I live, the edges of the Caparaó National Park), I add within it practically all the species I find out there and that I find interesting. From wasps, passing through mollusks, ants, orchids to my big tarantula (Lasiodora). With correct handling and supplementation, this is quite possible! Great channel yours! One more subscriber here! I'm planning a 400-gallon mega tank (from Brazilian Atlantic Forest) to install on the wall of my new home's living room. I already got authorization from my wife (the hardest part ...:) and, as soon as I can, I think of bringing my hobby to UA-cam as well. Greetings from Brazil!

    i know that argentina ants is invasive and dangerus to other ant species. but maybe you can keep them and have a plan if they take to much over

  • @yourlocaltoad5102
    @yourlocaltoad5102 6 років тому +1

    You could try to introduce some liocheles australasiae-scorpions. They should be native to Thailand and they feed on small insects like ants or termites. If you introduce some of them (about 10-15 they stay quite small) next to the Argentine ant nest, then they might feast on them and help in keeping their population small.
    Also you could try to dry the vivariums water again and then just fill it through their nest. This would probably flood and drown them and add to the ecosystem of your tank.

    Nordic Ants, to make the Argentine ants in control you should feed the other ants right beside were their nest, if the Argentine Ants come close the other ants should be more active and agressive.

  • @andreamontechiarini
    @andreamontechiarini 6 років тому +1

    Yes, usually those sand structures are for protecting the aphids or mealy bugs, I’ve seen Lasius ants keep tens of aphids under them. I think that you didn’t find many mealy bugs because there weren’t many in the terrarium

    The spiders that you call "the leaf spider" is a "lynx spider" i think

    if there's water drops on the plants the ants could be putting sand on the plants to absorb the water

    I think you should dig them out but put them into there own formicarium and keep them as a separate colony.

    Hi! Great Video! Against the aggressive Ants you can maybe add Platymeris biguttatusOr Cyriocosmus elegans

      Neither of those will eat argentine ants. If anything the ants will eat them

    Dude every time I watch your vivarium it makes me want to start one too 😅! I would take out the Argentine ant if I were you but let's see what the poll's results are 😉. Are you still not using any ant barrier? Cheers

      Im using olive oil :D yeah interesting how people want to keep them :o

      Nordic Ants careful because some species eat olive oil 😅. The concern with Argentine Ants is that they are gonna kill the other species like it often happens in nature 😑

      Nordic Ants most definetly you should, eventually youll realise that they are displacing the otgers, just give them.time to grow in numbers
      back in the day there where lots of camponotus cruentatus colonies around my home, now theres only linepithema humile, the only camponotus colony that i can find is in my drawer in an acrilic setup.
