You prolly dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf for the last few weeks :)
I wanted to thank you for the video it helped me a lot. I didn't even have to jack up the car at all and i didn't want to take off the top motor mount so i worked around it and it still worked out good. My car doesn't have the lower torque mount installed (i'm guessing it fell off while driving. I ordered a new one so I can install it next week) so I just slipped the old belts off and the new belts on, tighten and good to go. your video made it super easy and I think it only took me about 30min to 40min and I was done. once again thank you
This video was perfect and helped so much. Surprising you need to take off two engine mounts just to get to some belts. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this!
I might be late to the party but, there is a provision for a 1/2 drive socket to tighten the power steering belt instead of the pry bar. 11:48 next to the wire there is a square hole.
@Jack of all master of none, Very helpful video. Thanks for the straightforward delivery, clear instructions and simple videography. You have provided a very valuable reference for us shade tree wrenchers. 👍🏻
my serpentine belt and idler belt both snapped. Unfortunately, I can only find replacement belts for the 2001 to 2005 Honda Civic 1.7L models. Are they compatible with my 2000 Honda Civic 1.7L EX-R?
just a btw, when there's more than one different belt, they're not called serpentine belts, a serpentine belt is one belt for everything like a 94 chevy blazer. other than that great vid!
mini hoov I have a strippped 14 mm bolt on side of my ac idler pulley it’s Stripped bad . Is there a way to get it off , there is no space and also do I need that ac idler pulleybolt on the side to put my belt back on so it can loosen ????
Hello, since I don't know English, I would like a brief tutorial to install only the air conditioning (AC) girdle, it is only the girdle I need to change, could you help me with that?
I have a quick question i have a 1998 honda civic DX and just today as i was coming back from the store my battery light came on then i completely lost power couldn't accelerate at all my lights turned on ... but when i tried to turn on the car it was completely dead even tho the battery had energy... would it be my timing belt that ripped ??.. hopefully it is
Doing this job right now and those 2 bolts that hold the motor mount stripped the middle piece with the nut and washer missing can I just run no ac for now ?
Really helpful video, thanks. Question, I put a new belt but I get squeaky sound turning the wheel. Can an over tighten belt cause squeakiness when making turns?
@@JoeRCV hey man where you able to figure out your problem? I changed all the belts and my car does the same but only when its all the way to the right or left, sometimes it does it without going all the way but when the engine is cold
Changed my ac belt and idler pulley then it started smoking bad until it snapped off the belt any idea what it could be . Ac pulley spins freely maybe I tighten the tensioner to tight ?
Something is locking up. Try turning on the AC and see if you can spin the compressor. Is your tensioner pulley spinning ok? Also, everything has to be in alignment.
Can I just losen the ac belt and take it out of place so I can put the alternator belt on, instead of taking it completely off with the mount. I’m trying to a blind removing the mount
Apologies if this was mentioned, but how long would you estimate this job takes? I’m relatively experienced and everything depicted in the video seems well within my comfort zone. Just looking to budget my time accordingly. Thanks
Is this an automatic or a manual? I've got a 2000 civic the engine compartment looks exactly the same, I want to know if I can get cruise control on a manual. It might not have been an option in Europe or something because I can't find a manual car with cruise control. Also I need to replace these belts so thanks a lot for the tutorial.
Wrench with a big pipe fitted over the end. You most likely could not fit an impact wrench into that tight space. Leverage/ physics - are your friends!
+Kevin Acasio ebay. They are eagle eyes brand. Make sure you get the eagle eye ones and not the cheap crappy onea. I got them from partscontainer for $ 61.52
I'm going to assume the engine can't start without the Alternator belt... I guess that's the belt that broke in my Civic last night. Also I'm going to guess the shop I had replace belts 18 months ago didn't do it right because I don't think my AC belt was even there when I poked my head under the hood. Sadly I can't repair it, I don't have the skills, strength, tools, or money.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Maybe that's why my low battery light was flickering when my car broke down, the belt had broken earlier and it couldn't provide enough power...
I didnt jack the car on the oil pan. I supported the engine with a block of wood under the oil pan when removing the mount. This is standard procedure for this type of repair. Additionally the oil pan is aluminum and very strong and would support the weight of the car if necessary
@@JackofAllMasterofNone oh okay well I got it done without doing so, I just had to remove my power steering pump to give me some room to loosen my AC belt but I believe you would indeed have to remove a mount in order to change the AC belt as it was trapped in between the mount, preventing it from being pulled out.

Part Numbers since it's not posted:
Power Steering - 4PK0845
A/C - 4PK0820

Entire engine mounts don’t just fall off while driving.

i just got done doing this and i was nervous since it was my 1st time. I really appreciate that you took the time to upload this, thanks again .

Good show! I just changed thermostat and a 10mm gearwrench saved time, very tight spaces.
Thank you this is the exact model of my car too and im planning on purchasing the belts online this helped me figure out what ones i needed!

Sounds like the alternator stopped charging.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone possibly a new alternator??
Did you do a video of the timing belt change? I want to change mine. This video was helpful
Thanks for the info, appreciate it, great video :)
Are the ac belts and power steering belts the same for a 95 del sol vtec 1.6 sohc as seen in the video?
Awesome video, so helpful!
Why do you have to loosen the 14mm bolt on the tensioner pulley? Cant you just loosen the adjusting bolt?
Do you have the torque specs for all these bolts please? Thanks in advance and great video.
Doing this soon in a 2000 lx, hopefully it applies
No I don't
Gutentight. That's German torque spec for all them.
Any video out there on how to do the Alternator belt replacement on a 99 civic?
Doing this job right now and those 2 bolts that hold the motor mount stripped the middle piece with the nut and washer missing can I just run no ac for now ?
Thanks this vid helped me a lot
Thanks for the good video the only thing that is bad is they put the alt belt behind all the other ones dad gum Honda’s from rod in ala
+Wanda Mann yes. It is a pain to get to
And the engine mount running through the ac belt. Its been a pain in the ass.
Oh. Great video by the way. Best one. Make moar!!
Really helpful video, thanks. Question, I put a new belt but I get squeaky sound turning the wheel. Can an over tighten belt cause squeakiness when making turns?
Not usually. It's usually too loose of a belt that squeeks. Or there may be a contaminent on the belt like oil.
Jack of All Master of None Nice I see, thanks. Will try and find the culprit and get back to you with the answer
@@JoeRCV hey man where you able to figure out your problem? I changed all the belts and my car does the same but only when its all the way to the right or left, sometimes it does it without going all the way but when the engine is cold
Does the ac pulley have a 14mm nut or is it a 12mm nut
Thank you
I'm total how many belts are there ? Timing belt , alternator belt power steering belt and ac compressor belt ? Total 4 right ?
If I don’t have ac could I just cut the belt? Or do I need the belt on to have the car work properly??
If you dont want AC you can cut it and leave it off
Changed my ac belt and idler pulley then it started smoking bad until it snapped off the belt any idea what it could be . Ac pulley spins freely maybe I tighten the tensioner to tight ?

The ac belt goes around the lower mount so you can get an alternator belt in and out without removing the mount and ac belt

Is anything connected to the ac belt other than the compressor?
where did you get that huge bolt for the mount? @6:37 seems to be a new one I am looking to get a new one as well
It's not new.
amazing!
good job.

Mine doesnt have the 10mm bolt to loosen tension for ac, is there a way around that ??
The video is excellent but put a block of wood on the corner of the oil pan
When you go to Jack it up

I was told I needed to buy 2 belts to replace my drive belt but now I’m confused because you said 3
Depends on if you have AC and power steering.
Do i really need the crowbar if I'm just trying to get an ac belt on?
Probably
Can I just cut off ps and ac belts save my self sometime to get to the alternator lol I’m willing to drive with no ps and ac
You can.... lol
Good luck parking without power steering. It's not the same as driving a car that was designed without PS.
