    One tip - if turkey comes in a bag, leave in bag and do the water measurements so you don’t have to have turkey water and fry it additionally

      We’ve done it both ways. I like to have my turkey dry in the refrigerator for 24 hours, so it’s coming out of the bag anyways, and it accounts more accurately for the cavity of the turkey and the giblets that are taking up space in the bag.
      Either way works for sure.

    I brine my turkey in salt water and brown sugar The night before dry it off good and put it in my butterball electric turkey fryer right on my kitchen island for about 45 minutes it comes out great and would never go back to a roasted turkey 😋

    I recommend unless you have a potable water hose to use a clean picture of water.😊

    Hi I love the instruction in the video although I'm curious. What's the name of the acoustic soundtrack in the back round, sick. I want to play it in the background on Thanksgiving. While I fry the turkeys.😅

    Question: what's the best substitute for peanut oil? I have BAD peanut allergies...

    Did y’all switch it up from the Cajun pitgrit because of the sugar content or just to do something different?

      Still love the Cajun pit grit! Just decided to put in an easier to obtain product for this years recipe.

    Where do you get your oil from? The prices around me have seemed to skyrocket. Even Amazon wants $80 for 3 gallons of peanut oil but i need more than that. 😵‍💫

      @@HoundHogsOutdoors mine doesn't carry peanut oil, only "pure clear frying oil." It has a high enough smoke point, but isn't peanut oil supposed to be better and make crisper skin?

    • @HoundHogsOutdoors
      @HoundHogsOutdoors  9 місяців тому

      Might be seasonal. Fry oil would probably be fine just slightly different flavor.

    • @dkajj
      @dkajj 9 місяців тому

      @HoundHogsOutdoors well, that would be fine then, as fry oil is only $41 for 4.5 gallons. Peanut out is going for between $55 and $80 for 3 gallons..... and I need 4.5.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. I'm wondering about the 325 degrees part? Most other videos say to fry it at 350. Can you tell me how you came to 325 and does it make a big difference at the end??? Thanks in advance for any response

    • @HoundHogsOutdoors
      @HoundHogsOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      I’ve found not trying to push the temp too high after the bird is already in makes for a better color on the outside. Run it to 350 and you risk it getting dark on you, especially if there is a little sugar in your rub. Think of it as low and slow frying, but I wouldn’t go any lower than 325.

    Great video. Very much appreciated there wasn't lots of unnecessary dialogue. Had my first fried turkey last week and plan on frying one myself for Christmas and will use all of your suggestions. Advice: IMHO, please consider real old peckerwoods like me that are hard of hearing when determining the volume of the background music. Sometimes UA-camrs drown themselves out and ruin their own production. This one, for me, was close, but okay. I'm more interested in what you're saying than anything else. Have an AWESOME Holiday Season!

    Note that the inside of water hoses are often full of bacteria that can be harmful

    • @HoundHogsOutdoors
      @HoundHogsOutdoors  Рік тому +3

      Not sure it matters since it’s going to be heated with the oil to 370 degrees!
      Also, we drink out of water hoses and it ain’t killed us yet!
