Great Example of how to lift.

Even with liquid filled tires the tractor can still lift more than it is physically should. Next time throw a tiller (700 to 800lbs) or something like that on the back and you could have lifted that off with no problems. I have a 494 and 574 and I pretty much leave my 7 foot tiller on the back at all times. Makes loading a dump truck with a 3/4 yard bucket a lot less scary :)

Ok you've had that 494 for awhile. Can you give us an update on its reliability and performance. Issues?? If so what. Your real life video's are much appreciated Thank you!!

Have you had any issues with the axles or hubs? I wonder how well it would handle feeding out 5x5 bales...thanks for the video!

    Great machine!
Put some liquid antifreeze on your tires for ballast and you can lift without no problem !

How has the 494 held up? I'm looking at making a similar purchase and torn between LS, Kioti, and TYM

Sorry Ive been meaning to do an update video. I love the tractor I would buy another in a heartbeat. A freind of mine purchased a kioti nx5010 at the same time and it's supposed to be a comparable tractor... it's far from comparable honestly. As for the ls tractor the cab is too small for me to fit in comfortably so I didn't look much into them after that.

Just a tip that an old guy told me about when adjusting the width of your forks, lift them up about 6' high, and then lower the tips down so that the forks are hanging vertical, they slide very easy this way. I occasionally still do the kick and yank method at times too, but the hanging slide works good on both of my sets of forks when I do it.

What is your thoughts on the hydrostatic transmission on this unit? I am looking into either a 494 or the 574 just having a internal struggle with what transmission to choose. Do you have any complaints or regrets with the HST? Thanks.

I originally was thinking about getting a shuttle bc they pull a little harder than a hydro does but also with it being a dry clutch type you can slip the clutch and wear it out easily too. I was hesitant but I got a hydro bc it was what was available and honestly I'm thrilled with it. I'm glad I got it and I can easily put someone else behind the wheel if need be and I don't have to worry about them ruining the clutch or making a mistake bc they aren't confident with a shuttle shift. The hydro has more than enough power. As for the 494 vs 574 it was a 1200 difference for me the dealer had both in stock but I didn't need the couple extra top end hp so I chose not to get it and stick with a simpler machine. And I don't regret it honestly the 494 has plenty of power for what I do. What do you primarily plan to use it for?

You can purchase the mechanical shuttle for less money. If you control speed with the clutch, you will have to replace the clutch sooner than expected. The money you spent to replace the clutch will be more than the HST option. That's only if you control speed with the clutch. You have Low, Medium and High Ranges. " L ' is for loader. "M " is to get from one point to another in 2WD no load. "H" is for highway in 2WD. Use this technique and keep your tractor out of the shop.

Ill throw my opinion in the hst does produce a little less power(hst's are getting more efficient) but that's normally not the limiting factor its traction and both trans types will spin tires even with ballasts in my experience . Even though I originally preferred geared transmissions on tractors almost 100% of the time , a month ago this changed I was looking at a branson 4820r(shuttle) very similar to the tym 494(they are related) . Well the dealer may have gotten confused because when the tractor got delivered it was the 4820h hydrostat I was worried at first but I will say after doing some earthworks in heavy red clay the 4820h has no issues pulling a 72inch box blade with all 9 ripper shanks at max depth while also full of dirt . The box blade is a cat 2 , and it's big its depth is 25inches and its height is around 22inches so it's was surprising to me how easy the 4 range hydrostat could pull it . These new hydrostats are tough when moving dirt with the front end loader it just doesn't seem to want to stop digging in to the pile until the bucket is almost complete buried into said pile . If doing only large open field work I still like shuttle for that , but for anything else like working on a mix of field and woods , doing loader work and even the ease of operation for new operator's who may need to use it if you are not around(may not apply to you) .

@@robs8882 yes I'm very impressed with the 494 freinds of mine have the comparable kioti and Kubota and they won't lift what this tym will lift. I think if I had a heavy attachment on the 3pt it would've lifted it off but been right at tipping point which isn't always safe

So if you spun out in 4 wheel drive on a dry hill with that light load the tractor is not worth having .
