  • The Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad operated between Mineral and Elbe, Washington through the thick forested country just south of Mt Rainier. It showcased a great collection of logging locomotives and rolling stock.
    Sadly, the railroad closed in 2020, but you can still get a taste of the Mt. Rainier Scenic here.
    This segment is from our program "Northwest Heritage Railways" featuring five tourist lines in Oregon, Washington, and California. It is available on DVD, Hi-Definition Blu-ray, and Digital Download. Visit 7ideaproductions.com.

    I'm really glad they're coming back in a few years. I've wanted to go here for a long time. It would've been a great loss if they shut down permanently.

    The whistle on #17 is wearing is an Ashton 6 inch 3 chime used on their other steam locomotive #5.

    My son is special needs and he is overjoyed that the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad is up and running again! He hopes that real soon or sooner than soon that #17, HK Porter #5, Hiesler #91, Shay #11, Climax #10, and Willamette #2 are all restored to operation and recommends FMW Solutions for help in the restorations. He also hopes the alco rsd1 is restored to operation as well.

    Sadly, American Heritage got in trouble with the IRS and had various problems that depend on who you ask. Either way, it's all still and silent now. Such a shame as this was a great train ride with lots of great power and rolling stock. I miss going there to ride it

    I keep hearing rumors that, since they became a for-profit operation back in 2014 or so, that they’ve accrued a considerable amount of debt and if they can’t find a buyer and resume operations soon; the railroad will be dissolved and all their locomotives and rolling stock will be auctioned off to settle the debt.

    • @Willysmb44
      @Willysmb44 2 роки тому +2

      I hadn't heard that but I'm, NOT saying you're wrong. Anything is possible. It's be terrible to lose this operation and all the great equipment they have/had...

    I went to Mount Rainier on Independence Day 2022. Going there and back to our hotel I passed through Elbe WA. The tracks and crossings are just sitting there collecting dust because covid permanently closed the railroad. Very sad. The tracks run right next to the mountain road for a little bit. Would’ve loved to ride it at some point in my life. Washington state in the summer is beautiful. Very long daylight hours so you can do a lot every day. It doesn’t get fully dark there in the summertime until about 10:15 PM.

      They used to, but not anymore. Three years ago, American Heritage Railways closed down the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm worried about the locomotives that worked on that line. What's going to happen to them?

    • @PacificNorthwestRailfanner
      @PacificNorthwestRailfanner Рік тому +1

      @@andrewcrumb8027 Thanks for the info! Currently, there are no plans on what to do about the locomotives and the rolling stock. They are sitting inside the engine sheds and yard tracks at Mineral. However, there has been some rumors about the Northwest Railway Museum (in Snoqualmie) purchasing the locomotives and its rolling stock. Although, I do prefer if all the locomotives and rolling stock stays as is since it's been its home for 30+ years. I do hope though that the railroad opens back up. It is currently still looking for a new owner to acquire it.

    That first car...
    Why. Just why is there a home air conditioning unit on the roof? That's literally like the redneck window ac unit hanging off a car window.
