@@DianeJennings The short version is that Stevie Nicks swears up and down she's over him, but Buckingham has vehemently disagreed with her, saying she's "never gotten over him". On top of that, they've both written songs about what a butthole the other was and made them sing those songs.

Needless to say, it was a great job with a lot of perks, including stage passes to several concerts. Bands that we brought in included the Grateful Dead, the Doobie Brothers, the Eagles, Rod Stewart, Frank Zappa, and Bob Dylan. I also had a hand in promoting a benefit concert held at Wildcat Stadium in Tucson featuring Charlie Daniels, Kenny Loggins, and Fleetwood Mac. It was a fantastic concert.

“You Make Loving Fun” is another song by Fleetwood Mac. It is written and sung by Christine McVie about the guy she was sleeping with behind her husband’s back. Her husband was John McVie, the bassist in the band. It was a big hit, and he had to play on it every time.
To be a fan of Fleetwood Mac requires commitment. Without knowing much about the band members over the years, undertake the journey from their earliest U.S. releases (English Rose) up through the albums featuring Buckingham/Nicks you get an education in the feelings of human beings. So many great stories! For me it made a huge part of my existence. Listen again to "Mystery to Me" or "Bare Trees". This will give you just an inkling of how powerful their music is/was. Of all the "old stuff", "Kiln House" and "Then Play On" are still relevant masterpieces.

The music was over 10 years old at the time but it was my soundtrack through the experience of leaving home and being stripped of my identity through the trials of becoming a cadet at Texas A&M. That cassette allowed me to keep my sanity! I’m glad they are your “Jam” Diane, they’ve certainly raised goose bumps on me!!
Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks did many of the vocals for the band. it's CRAZY how these two worked and performed together for Decades and put their feeling aside for the music, because the music was consistently amazing!! Let's NOT FORGET Christine McVie, the 3rd vocalist who sung many, many hits! You need to hear "You Make Loving Fun", "Hold Me", and "Don't Stop".

I was 10 years old when this song was on the radio every hour of the day in the summer of 1977. All I knew then was it was so catchy and singable and the guitar playing was phenomenal. It wasn't until I was in high school about 7 years later breaking up with my first girlfriend that I even realized this was a breakup song. So, the fact that young people like yourself are still discovering the power and magic of a song more than 40 years later is a testament to its greatness. There is no music of this quality being made in current times and I think there never will be again.

Oh, The real slap back by Stevie is the song "Silver Springs" which was not included on the album because they ran out of room. But it was released much later. However you absolutely must watch the video of her performance of Silver Springs from "The Dance" concert: ua-cam.com/video/eDwi-8n054s/v-deo.html ( Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs (Official Live Video) [HD] ) It is the most moving and emotional performance you have ever seen...
On Silver Springs, Stevie really gives it to Lindsey, especially at the end of the song. But on the performance of Landslide, I believe from the same concert, she tugs at his heartstrings, and he seems nearly in tears of longing at the end of the song.
The Buckingham Nicks album did not sell well. However, Mick Fleetwood heard the record while recording at Sound City (check the Dave Grohl documentary about Sound City). Fleetwood asked Buckingham to join the band. However Lindsay insisted that him and Stevie were a package deal, so both joined the band. Stevie comments about that in the documentary
_Go Your Own Way_ was the band's best selling single. Yes, Stevie Nicks sings background on this. The band had three song writers and three vocalists: Christine McVie _(deceased),_ Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. A good example of a Christine McVie song _(my opinion):_ _Songbird._ A good example of a Stevie Nicks song of that time period: _Gold Dust Woman._ Other songs with extended guitar solos: _I'm So Afraid,_ _Isn't it Midnight,_ and _Miranda._ Give them a listen. :o) :o) :o)
Fleetwood Mac had 3 singers Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. All had solo careers as well, but Stevie Nicks was the most successful. You have to listen to "The Chain" dubbed the song that kept the band together for that album.😎
Songbird always made Christine cry, so she refused to go back to the band, but eventually relented. Best of their songs and always played solo by Christine on the piano at the end of their concerts. She wrote it one night when the lyrics and tune just came to her. My favorite and I was shocked when she died.
I would recommend another Fleetwood Mac song that is quite different, The Chain, I don't know if you have reviewed that one but I'm guessing not. Go Your Own Way, is one of their best songs. I've even heard them live and they did it live just as well as on the record. Yes, Lindsey, wrote and sang the song and it's one of his best.
I normally recommend reacting to the studio version of recordings, especially massive hit recordings like this one, BUT, I recommend that your next Fleetwood Mac reaction is the live version of The Chain from their 1997 reunion concert The Dance - it's on UA-cam. The whole convert video is great, but it will be much more helpful to SEE the band members sing and perform, plus the recording quality of the concert is excellent, as is their performance. Note that Fleetwood Mac has 3 singer/songwriters, each with a very unique style. Lindsay's songs tend to be a bit more "rock", more intense and guitar-focused. Stevie's songs are, much like Stevie herself, very "witchy" and ethereal. Finally, Christine McVie's songs are always crystalline pure and heartfelt, as is her high voice. The Chain is one of the songs that's really more of a "whole band" performance rather than one that's more focused on one of the songwriters, which tends to be more common, and that's one of the reasons it's so popular. And while the band always performs amazingly well together, it's almost like 3 different groups, because each songwriter has such a unique style. There is never any question of who wrote what song once you've heard a couple of songs from each of the 3 vocalists - they're so different from each other that it's almost impossible that they work so well together. While it doesn't make sense for a reaction video, I highly recommend watching the entire The Dance concert video - the performances by everyone are outstanding.
I have heard Fleetwood Mac Rumors. I got the Albums from a Antique store on Vinyl, 8 track, Compact Disc. There Live concerts are legendary. Enjoying sharing the Music Journey Quest, You Dancing to the Music, and Learning what the Song is about. @@DianeJennings Lady Diane and Lord Chewie 🥰 Cool thing about Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks Albums is I got them for 1 dollar before Collecting Music Media became Popular Again.
Lindsey Buckingham song Holiday Road is a favorite I like. Songs only 2 minutes and 15 seconds on the music video. It's is on National Lampoons Vacation(1984). There's a homemade video of the song with the Movie on UA-cam. The Original Music Video is entertaining. It's about Lindsey and Co Workers being stuck in the office and want to go on Vacation.
My guess is at least half of Fleetwood Mac's songs are about them fighting with each other. They didn't just play musical instruments, they played musical beds. I find it funny that you think of Fleetwood Mac as a hippie band. They were pretty far from it. They started as a blues band before they developed their own sound in the mid-70s, which was well after the hippie era. Real hippie music includes "Mellow Yellow" by Donovan and "Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the Shondells. Christine McVie was (is?) also a great singer. She sang lead on "You Make Loving Fun," one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs. "The Chain" is another great Fleetwood Mac song, also from the Rumours album. It's another one inspired by tensions within the band. I'd love for you to react to it.
Was. Christine McVie passed away in November of 2022, and according to Stevie Nicks that was the official end of the band. And from what I can tell everyone else involved agrees.
my favorite Christine McVie song is "Do It Again" ua-cam.com/video/to6koX4zBbc/v-deo.html "its time to move on to the rain, and finally break the chain"
The first iteration of Fleetwood Mac was fronted by Peter Green, who was incredibly respected as a musician, but his mental health issues made him impossible to work with. It's amazing that the band survived, and underwent the massive transition to become the hit machine it became in the '70's.
I remember "Rumors" well. My sister spent the summer, seeing how fast she could wear that cassette out. This was a bit before Walkmans, so she played it on her Panasonic tape recorder. The thing ate batteries. I was probably about 11 at the time, and she would have been about 16. We camped a lot in the summer, so I remember her, and that tape player, and going to the beach, and her baking herself in the sun, because we didn't worry about things like skin cancer back then. I was a nice brother, so i would slather on her sun tan lotion for her, before running off to jump in the water. Summers were great back then.
It's always interesting to hear two sides of the same story, especially with twin songs. I guess we need to send you more slang terms that you may or may not know. Lol. Great shoutouts Graham, Jason and Rickey! We've got fires here in CO too. My friends had to evacuate their family and puppies late last night.
I like Fleetwood Mac, even if they fall outside of my preferred genres of music. One of those bands where I don't often seek them out, but when one of their songs is playing, I'll gladly listen to the end. I only saw them play live once in 1982, but it was a good show. The band had a few different lineups before Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined in 1975. Originally, the was formed by members of John Mayall's Blues Breakers, with Peter Green as the main guitarist. After Green left, there was a period when Bob Welch was a key member. The Peter Green and Bob Welch iterations had different musical styles than the Stevie Nicks era that followed. If you're interested in these earlier versions, I suggest "Hypnotized" or "Sentimental Lady" (which was a hit five years later when he re-recorded it on a solo album) from the Bob Welch years, or "Black Magic Woman" from the Peter Green years. (A cover of that song by Santana is much more well known than the Fleetwood Mac original.) I see you corrected your "Rumours" mistake. "Rumours" was the album on which "Go Your Own Way" (and also "Dreams") appears. The album was released a few months before I graduated from high school in 1977, so both songs were pretty much inescapable around the time I graduated. As you noted, the album was recorded in the turmoil of relationships failing within the band. Unfortunately, pain and chaos (and drugs) often lead to good music. There are examples of great music springing from happiness, though, so there is some hope in the world.
Fleetwood Mac: three singers, Stevie, Lindsey, and then Christine McVee. They all sing backup for each other. If you want more Stevie/Lindsey drama: Lindsey, The Chain, also off Rumors: ua-cam.com/video/kBYHwH1Vb-c/v-deo.html Stevie, Silver Springs, which Stevie thinks is her best song. It was left off Rumors, much to her disappointment. It's also the ultimate "I put a curse on you" breakup song that Taylor Swift can't quite match: ua-cam.com/video/eDwi-8n054s/v-deo.html They are from the same concert series, but I don't know if it's the same show. For Stevie at her "Welsh Witch" witchiest, there's Rhiannon, especially this performance: ua-cam.com/video/goKM7jsOwrg/v-deo.html For Christine, I like this one: ua-cam.com/video/863PwjoYhZI/v-deo.html Have fun. :)
At 8:43 Definitely A Legendary Band with a Legendary Song that's a Iconic. There were so many copy's of the bands Albums and Media there's easy to find in Thrift Shops, Retro Stores, and Antique Shops. It plays on the radio still too.
At 0:23 Being Born in the Spring is very much a Flower Child in the Spring. I was Born in Springtime. Great thing about Springtime is the Weather is Good.
Hi Diane, glad you are loving Fleetwood Mac. There is a smaller hit by them, also wrtten by Lindsey Buckingham, it's called Oh Diane! Yep, you gotta do it now!
Another part of the "conversation" was "Silver Springs", of which the definitive version is their 1997 live performance on "The Dance". You can feel the tension on that one.
The thrill of buying the album this is off of, Rumors, when it was first released, in the 70’s, was indescribable. A fabulous album and amazing breakup song
The drums are just amazing. Fleetwood does a lot of imaginative drumming on this album. A drummer's drummer. (I"d say Buckingham's most notable solo is on "I'm So Afraid.")
Rumors was basically a series of Screw You letters written by and about the people in the band and it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded. The Chain is an amazing son as well, but there are no bad songs on Rumors. It's been a staple on every road trip I've been on since it came out.
Always fun to see chair dancing Diane, she was really working it on this tune. Diane would have definitely made a late 70's rocker chick. I've always liked most Fleetwood Mac music, but honestly didn't know about the behind the scene's drama. Rumours is one great album. Was then, is now. Great video.
Diane you can’t grow up from the merrion to killiney without knowing this. Stevie and Lindsay were breaking up, Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie were breaking up. The whole band were getting through massive amounts of coke, but still respected the work, producing one of the the best albums of the 70s. Love your reaction. Ta, from an old dub in Oxford.
I’ve been a Fleetwood Mac fan since before Nicks and Buckingham joined. Their endurance proves their musicality and fantastic lyrics. So glad you heard this version of the band. But I suggest delving back further. ❣️
Fleetwood Mac has had many different iterations but the Buckingham-Nicks lineup is the best known. If you wanna go further down this path check out "Gypsy," which is another Stevie song. But also investigate the earlier versions of the band with Peter Green or Bob Welch. "Albatross" or maybe "Black Magic Woman"
There’s a cover of this song sung by Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries in her glorious Irish accent. It made me think of that cover when you sung the chorus. You should definitely check that version out!
Even the album title referenced the troubles the band was having! In a reversal of traditional roles Lyndsey wanted to marry and have a family, Stevie wanted to live the rock and roll lifestyle. Lyndsey married and has 3 children, Stevie never married, no children. Stevie had the most successful solo career as a singer and is worth $120 million, Lyndsey had more success in the studio as a producer and is worth $170 million. If you watched the movie Vacation, the song Holiday Road was Lyndsey. Stevie, Lyndsey as well as Christine McVie all sang lead, each with their own style. Lyndsey played lead guitar for Dreams where Stevie basically said he was a dumb@$$, Stevie sang background vocals on Go Your own way where Lyndsey called her a ho. 50 years later and people are still talking about their breakup. Rumours is a great vinyl album listened to with high quality headphones. You can really hear the background vocals, especially Stevie on Go Your Own Way. Side note-Lyndsey produced an album for John Stewart in 1979, with Stevie providing background vocals on the song Gold.
I have this album from back in the day. Yes, I’m old. Unfortunately I no longer have a turntable to play it on but nowadays there’s plenty of other ways to listen to it. Thanks for sharing and reacting to it. Take care, be safe! ❤
If you are interested in a glimpse of their on-stage interactions, please react to the live version of 'Silver Springs'. They have a volatile relationship as people. She has always said he is her musical soul mate.
I don't think there is a bass player who didn't play along to this because it was so much fun! They were all seasoned musicians, what did you expect. Every enthusiast should also listen to the early Fleetwood Mac, namely to Albatross and to Oh Well (both parts)!
Silver Springs is another song written by Stevie Nicks directed at Lindsay. Mick Fleetwood refused to add it to Rumours at the time. There Is a live performance from their 1997 reunion concert where Stevie gets quite emotional l, almost screaming the lyrics to Lindsay while performing it. I highly recommend it, it's a great tune. Cheers!
New here, I Love FWM, but you have to react to the power Dolores O'Riordan puts into a live cover of this song on Live Europe 2. The studio sound folks have difficulty keeping it under control you can hear her reverberating through the whole radio station until I believe the last chorus they get it down.
Always like Fleetwood Mac. One of the bands that went their own way and not down the pit the music industry was digging at the time. Why their music is still played and appreciated while other groups have all but disappeared following the industry's piped pipers. BOOP

A good example of a Stevie Nicks song of that time period: _Gold Dust Woman._
Other songs with extended guitar solos: _I'm So Afraid,_ _Isn't it Midnight,_ and _Miranda._ Give them a listen. :o) :o) :o)
Still enjoying Bandana Girl?

Fleetwood Mac had 3 singers Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. All had solo careers as well, but Stevie Nicks was the most successful. You have to listen to "The Chain" dubbed the song that kept the band together for that album.😎
Think I'm in love with Diane! Fleetwood great band!!
Songbird always made Christine cry, so she refused to go back to the band, but eventually relented. Best of their songs and always played solo by Christine on the piano at the end of their concerts. She wrote it one night when the lyrics and tune just came to her. My favorite and I was shocked when she died.
Very interesting to learn about the connection between "Go Your Own Way" and "Dreams" Thanks for the musical lesson.
This and the Jefferson Airplane album, "Surrealistic Pillow" were the first two albums I ever bought.
You spent your $ wisely.
You should have done the live version of this song. The looks they gave each other!
Did You Know? Fleetwood Mac had a reunion concert in 1997 Its a really good concert on DVD Disc and UA-cam
"Silver Springs" is the standout song from that concert.
@@cypher515 I liked Tusk with USC marching band.
I really love Mick Fleetwoods drumming on this. A truely superb song!
While it doesn't make sense for a reaction video, I highly recommend watching the entire The Dance concert video - the performances by everyone are outstanding.
as a long time fan of fleetwod mac, you made a great choice in music today, wonderful reaction.
Seeing Your Reactions is what makes the Day Great and what You think of Songs Brings Me a lot of Happy Joy. Thanks for Making Wednesday a Rock N Roll Day.
Thanks for reacting to it Diane!
My pleasure!!
Very interesting as always!
"Songbird". Mustn't forget Christine's angelic vocal on that.
Hope everyone is ok!
@@DianeJenningsthey are, just have to stay with family for a bit.
Great to feel people appreciating music. Hope❤😊
Dianne, you are so cute in your reactions! keep it up, girl!
At 7:59 Lindsey Buckingham Solo on this Song is really Good.
They had 3 lead singers and all harmonized in backup. All 3 wrote songs too. "The Dance" video reunion concert is the best. A lot of it is on youtube.
Definitely one of my favorite bands!!!
(A cover of that song by Santana is much more well known than the Fleetwood Mac original.)
I see you corrected your "Rumours" mistake.
😊😊😊
Fleetwood Mac: three singers, Stevie, Lindsey, and then Christine McVee. They all sing backup for each other.
If you want more Stevie/Lindsey drama:
Lindsey, The Chain, also off Rumors: ua-cam.com/video/kBYHwH1Vb-c/v-deo.html
Stevie, Silver Springs, which Stevie thinks is her best song. It was left off Rumors, much to her disappointment. It's also the ultimate "I put a curse on you" breakup song that Taylor Swift can't quite match:
ua-cam.com/video/eDwi-8n054s/v-deo.html
They are from the same concert series, but I don't know if it's the same show.
For Stevie at her "Welsh Witch" witchiest, there's Rhiannon, especially this performance:
ua-cam.com/video/goKM7jsOwrg/v-deo.html
For Christine, I like this one: ua-cam.com/video/863PwjoYhZI/v-deo.html
Have fun. :)
We had the best music! My college roommate played this song a lot.
Fleetwood Mac was an awesome band and Stevie got all the attention for vocals but Christine McVie’s voice was always my favorite.
At 3:34 Enjoying You adding the Hand Gesture Dances to Your Dancing
Hi Diane, glad you are loving Fleetwood Mac. There is a smaller hit by them, also wrtten by Lindsey Buckingham, it's called Oh Diane! Yep, you gotta do it now!
Another part of the "conversation" was "Silver Springs", of which the definitive version is their 1997 live performance on "The Dance". You can feel the tension on that one.
I'm not a soft rock kind of person, but, the song was pleasant. I appreciate you expanding my musical horizons Diane. Thanks!
Aww thank you Brian! Glad you enjoyed it
The thrill of buying the album this is off of, Rumors, when it was first released, in the 70’s, was indescribable. A fabulous album and amazing breakup song
Made juicier by the back story!
The drums are just amazing. Fleetwood does a lot of imaginative drumming on this album. A drummer's drummer. (I"d say Buckingham's most notable solo is on "I'm So Afraid.")
One of my favorite bands. 😋🩵🩵🩵
I get your taste!
It's fun to watch Diane having fun.
Well they did shack up. When they were in Houston I knew Stevie and met Lindsey. They lived in an apt near Hobby airport.
I think he meant "with someone else". 😉
Rumors was basically a series of Screw You letters written by and about the people in the band and it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded.
The Chain is an amazing son as well, but there are no bad songs on Rumors. It's been a staple on every road trip I've been on since it came out.
Shacking up means living together
Always fun to see chair dancing Diane, she was really working it on this tune. Diane would have definitely made a late 70's rocker chick. I've always liked most Fleetwood Mac music, but honestly didn't know about the behind the scene's drama. Rumours is one great album. Was then, is now. Great video.
If you want to see them, live and very young ,watch Rhiannon 1976 "A story about an old Welsh Witch" Stevie certainly is witchy in it!
Got to Listen to Stevie's songs from her Solo Carrier... I'll just leave it as is!
I’d only ever heard this song on the radio haphazardly, never listened to it in depth before
Diane you can’t grow up from the merrion to killiney without knowing this.
they were such a great band with peter green
@@blueboy4244 I totally agree.
Oh wow!! 😮
There’s a cover of this song sung by Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries in her glorious Irish accent. It made me think of that cover when you sung the chorus. You should definitely check that version out!
Fleetwood Mac Go Your Own Way is Used in the Movies Casino(1995) and Forrest Gump (1994) thats probably were You heard some of the song.
Rock on!
This song makes you want to crank the volume wide open!
If you are interested in a glimpse of their on-stage interactions, please react to the live version of 'Silver Springs'. They have a volatile relationship as people. She has always said he is her musical soul mate.
One of the top albums of all time
I don't think there is a bass player who didn't play along to this because it was so much fun! They were all seasoned musicians, what did you expect.
Every enthusiast should also listen to the early Fleetwood Mac, namely to Albatross and to Oh Well (both parts)!
Thank you as always for the videos
Beautiful ! Just Beautiful !
Thanks for listening
Every song on the album was great.
Cheers!
TOP 5 ALL TIME ALBUMS
Have a look at any of their hits from the Dance Tour.
7:20 so much depth & back story to the album😮. & drugs, lots & lots⛄️😆
It's one of the greatest FU songs of all time. And what is particularly galling for Nicks is she had to sing FU to herself both on record and live.
@@DavidGriffith-r3s if looks could kill Stevie would be in prison.
New here,
I Love FWM, but you have to react to the power Dolores O'Riordan puts into a live cover of this song on Live Europe 2.
BOOP
Sounds good! 🎉
Check out The Chain from the same album! Everyone was feeling the angst!
This album is the soundtrack of my junior year of college.
Luv it!!
