A good friend of mine was really into Classic Rock and I had asked him who his favorite guitar player was. I was expecting the usuals, Hendrix, Clapton, maybe Jeff beck, but no. He said Lindsey Buckingham. It made me really listen again. When I really payed attention to it, I understood why. Totally underrated.

The Eagles music _sounds_ great. Tool's doesn't (IMO). I really wanted to like Tool, believe me. I had heard so many good things about them, but when I listened, I just didn't get it. I watched this concert on PBS when my newborn son was less than a month old. My husband and his family were out of town, and it was just me and my baby. I sang along and my son looked up at me with the most amazed look, as if to say, "Wow, what is that? Is that in the world? I hope so." It was one of the best moments of my life. I smiled, he smiled. LOL And before the comments are that he was terrified, I CAN sing. Throughout their youth, both my boys were in band, and my younger son was in gifted music. My husband has zero musical background, so I was very happy that yea, they got that from me.

The entire Rumors album was recorded as both couples within the band were essentially disintegrating, and it made for one of the best albums ever.

Lindsey often sang (still does mostly) the higher harmonies, the studio version of this song it's Lindsey hitting the C5s on the chorus. Incredibly underated and beast of a vocalist and guitarist

    perfect amount of emotion.

Beth, If you haven't yet, check out any song on the album Buckingham Nicks. They were recording this record when Mick Fleetwood asked them to join Fleetwood-Mac. The voices of a young Stevie and Lindsay are insane. Hearing that album - there is no doubt of the musical influence these two had on this amazing band. Every one of them are musical geniuses.

The Rumors album was always one of my favorites. I also loved that Fleetwood Mac got back together for Bill Clinton. They weren't at their best at that performance but they weren't bad and they had been apart for a long time.
Any other group of people would have gotten as far away from each other as possible under the circumstances. Fleetwood Mac turned it into some of the best songs ever. Together.

Thank you Beth Roars! Yes, Lindsey Buckingham is completely a folk singer and guitarist who choses to make rock and roll music. There are many of his songs, particularly solos, where his guitar picking is modified traditional folk guitar style.

Hi There, Beth. I have only recently discovered your Channel by Accident. I love the way you analyse songs & vocal performances. Often during your review, I sit back & think "yeah, she's right, I've never noticed that'. Particularly in this song where their lives were in so much turmoil but they were able to put that aside & sing a beautiful, emotional song. And, as you said, Lindsey's guitar gave out so much feeling as well. I've only seen about 20 of your videos & every one of them has been constructive. Maybe you do, but, I've never heard you can a performance & they've varied from Brian Johnson to Sinead O'Connor. Keep up the good work. Aussie Pete

Does anyone else think that listening to Mac live is way better than a Mac studio recording? Also, Lindsey Buckingham is the most under rated guitarist on the planet! He should be on every top 10 list.

What is more important that the singing is the looks across the stage, elevates this song from an alright MOR to a brilliant operatic piece. And the way they pass, on the stage, like ships in the night. Can't stop myself waving my arms in the air in tune with the drumming too.

Fantastic triple harmonies! But also, not only does Lindsey Buckingham show a crying feeling in his voice and facial expressions, but the ever higher notes in the latter half of his guitar playing also feels like the guitar is crying ever more intensely. And then Lindsey's final cathartic release on Mick's drums.

I guess we'll always be trying to figure out Lindsey and Stevie. A few years back, she said it wouldn't shock her if they ended up as an old, married couple. But he's been on the band's bad side for a few years, now, so that seems less likely. I did enjoy seeing him kiss her cheek during FM's 1982 performance of Landslide, in Houston.

YES, this song is/was very much about the Stevie-Lindsey breakup but THIS show was performed 30-35 years AFTER said split. I'm sure they're LONG past the emotional heartbreak of the "divorce" (they weren't actually married.) Christine and John McVie, the keyboardist and bass players respectively, WERE married and WERE going through a divorce, at the same time Stevie and Lindsey were "going their own ways." Rumors must of been hell to record but I think that's one reason it's such a great album, the emotion and turmoil from their personal lives delivered onto vinyl. An aside, Lindsey's picking/playing technique on the guitar is SO unusual and has always amazed me!
