There is a major problem with the Otterbox Symmetry this year. I had just bought the Iphone 14 pro max and got an otterbox clear symmetry case and its just terrible! The side rubber is sticky and squeaky and the case wont fit tight and properly on the phone and comes off too easily, very disappointing and unusual for otterbox who are known for their uncompromising quality. I chose to go with Speck this time as they are better in my opinion. Great review though!
Hi Omri! Is this your first experience with the Clear Symmetry cases? They have always been different than the plain colored and print Symmetry cases…the materials used are not the same. Sometimes this results in a less than optimal case. OtterBox sent me out the 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max Clear Symmetry cases and the 14 Pro Max version fit much better than the 14 Pro one…
@@TheTechReviewer I have had the clear and non clear cases from otterbox all through my iphone xs and then the 12 pro. They were amazing (despite the yellowing on the side rubber on the clear case). The design and materials used this year on the clear case for the 14 pro max feels less in quality, and the suprsing thing was the loose fit (maybe i got a slightly faulty unit idk). Even though i saw on your video you also mentioned the loose fit on the sides and how the case can be removed easily. Hope i will go back and enjoy their products in the future! :)
They changed their design this year and I notice tiny details so I saw it right away, I had an otterbox on my old phone for its whole life. The new symmetry cases don’t fit well. Very disappointing! I ended up returning the otterbox for a speck case.
I had the black symmetry case on my 14 pro max and it started stretching at the top within a mont of use, got a translucent black one kinda clear and the fit is not good, had it replaced and it was still the same thing, switched to Casetify and I LOVE ITTTT

I had the clear glitter case for another phone I had and it yellow within three days and I didn’t have it in the sun much or try to get it dirty much, it wasn’t the back that yellowed it was all around the rubber edge and it looked like it was dirty every time I looked at it I was grossed out as I don’t like dirty things so for me at was a not buy again

The back of the case is polycarbonate, so it is not likely to yellow, but the sides definitely will, over time. 3 days is faster than I usually hear of, however. Hello again kristen , i do have otterbox symmetry+ clear case and solid black and I would say after a good amount of use, the clear case is much better than the solid colors. To be honest all otterbox symmetry lineup this year is terrible but the clear case is a little better in my opinion.

Got the lime green color one a few days ago and it gets too easily stained on the front around the edges. Tried using a damp towel with soap and water to clean it and it doesn’t come off. As far as protection, the case looks like it’ll do the job perfectly but I’d only really get this case in a darker color and avoid all lighter colors. Had to return mine unfortunately.

Hi CD! I’m using the purple Symmetry case on my 14 Pro right now…it’s one of my favorite cases this year. The light colored rubber on the sides does have a tendency to pick up dirt and oils, however. I think the back of the case is a lot easier to keep clean, but the sides are more problematic. In my view, the best plan is to make sure your hands are clean when using your phone, as it is easier to avoid getting dirty in the first place. But to clean the case, you can take it off the phone and wash it in mild dish soap and warm water, or use Clorox cleaning wipes to disinfect it. I have a Symmetry+ for my iPhone 12 and they seem to have updated the design in a negative way. For the 12 line, the hard plastic backing wraps around the sides half way at which point it transitions to the artificial rubber for the other half and front bumper. Disappointing to see the use of the artificial rubber for the entire side edge and front bumper since this is the part that has stretched out on my 12 case.

I think it’s too early to know how the cases will wear over time…it could be that this design actually works better than the previous one. But I hear your concerns…
Hi Willy! I'm not a great person to ask about long term wear, because I typically don't use cases long enough. However, I really loved my 14 Pro Symmetry and used the lilac Symmetry case quite a lot last year. I did notice some slight discoloration of the rubber sides, but that was it. No stretching, no real scratching on the back. Great case in my opinion!

Obviously I haven't been using the case long enough to tell, but my guess would be that the back won't get dirty, but the sides could pick up dirt over time, due to their grippy rubber construction. Your safest bet is probably going to be a dark colored case if you are worried about that...

Hi Jackson! It is very easy to get on and off the phone, but I think that is the design. The sides are a very flexible rubber material. As you can see in the video, if you pull at the sides, they pull away from the phone pretty easily, but they snap back again when you let go. And the case feels fine when it is on. I think it really depends on your personal preference. Some people like tighter fitting cases, and some some prefer a more flexible case that is easy to get on and off the phone. The Symmetry definitely fits into the latter category. So, OtterBox redesigned the Symmetry+ to be much more like the Aneu case they introduced a few years ago. The old Symmetry+ was pretty tight to get on and off (I'm thinking of the iPhone 12 Pro version), but the Aneu always had a more flexible easy on/off feel to it. So I think that's what you are seeing with the Symmetry+ now...Hope this helps! And thanks for watching!

(Very textured surfaces, soft surfaces, fabric, leather, and silicone are all problematic.) With the solid color symmetry cases (the lime, black, brown and lilac cases shown in this review) , there is a little bit of texture to the case back, and I don't know if that is going to be enough to affect the fit. The multicolored graphics case in this review may or may not work with a popsocket. It has a softer touch finish, and that may cause issues. Sorry I can't be of more help! Hi Teamdbz! Sorry, I'm not going to be reviewing cases for the 14 Plus, so I'm afraid I can't really help you out there. However, just looking at the RhinoShield SolidSuit and the Symmetry Series+ cases for the 14 Pro side by side, they are very similar in size. The Symmetry Series+ case is a hair taller, but the SolidSuit is slightly thicker. But overall, super close in size. Both have a great feel in the hand, but I haven't gotten my MagSafe SolidSuit samples yet, so I can't evaluate the MagSafe strength. Hope this helps a little, and enjoy your new 14 Plus!!
I have the 14 plus and I don’t recommend otterbox this year, they changed their design and the new ones don’t fit very snugly. They’re a bit loose around the sides. This is just my experience though, maybe yours will be different

Hi Zephyr. Thanks for sharing your 14 Plus experience! For the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, the Symmetry+ is also somewhat loose, but not so much that it is problematic at all. I just find it nice and easy to get on and off. I've been using my 14 Pro Symmetry+ quite a lot since I got my 14 Pro and it has worked out really well. Great hand feel, very slim and fits well with MagSafe accessories because its camera rim isn't too wide. The only negative thing I have noticed is that the sides have picked up a bit of dirt over time. It's the Lilac case, and light colored rubber is notorious for having color change issues.

The symmetry case this year is the same as the otter box aneu case that you could only get from Apple or otter box last year. They only changed the buttons on the side to match the same color as the case this year.
Hi Britney! You are very right...this year's Symmetry has a strong resemblance to the Aneu case. I didn't get a chance to check out the Aneu last year, but the one for the iPhone 12 Pro had stickier sides then this year's Symmetry. Almost too grippy. This year's Symmetry+ cases have the perfect amount of grip on the sides, in my view at least. Some of the Symmetry+ cases this year have contrasting buttons as well, but most have colors matching the case, as you pointed out. Do you have this year's Symmetry+ case, Britney? If so, are you liking it?
@@TheTechReviewer I did get the symmetry+ this year and besides the the camera cut out it looks just like the aneu that I got last year and I changed the buttons last year from another otter box so I didn’t have the grey buttons. At the moment I’m not using my otterbox, I’m using a Matt black Casetify impact case with MagSafe and cherry blossoms on the back. It’s become my signature case. I use to only use otterbox.
Hi Britney. Sounds like a great look with the CASETiFY case! Cherry Blossoms on a Matte Black case must be just beautiful. It's never occurred to me to switch out buttons on a Symmetry case. Is it easy? I've done it with RHINOSHIELD cases frequently: you just push the old ones inward and push the new ones outward. Very easy. Are Symmetry buttons changed the same way?
Sure! Of course, personal preference will vary and not everyone is going to feel comfortable with every color. But there are no ‘boy colors’ or ‘girl colors’ . It’s whatever brightens your day!!
It depends upon what timeframe you are asking about. OtterBox Symmetry cases used to be pretty slippery, but then they added in a lot more grip in 2018. These new Symmetry cases are maybe a bit more grippy than the ones in 2018...I find them to be absolutely grippy enough, particularly the solid color ones. The solid color Symmetry cases have a little more grip on the sides, and the back is a bit textured, so they feel the most secure in the hand. The graphics Symmetry cases are in the middle, and then the least grippy are the clear Symmetry cases. These new Symmetry cases are quite similar to the OtterBox Aneu, if you are familiar with that case...
All my iPhones have had the Otterbox defender case. Best Buy was all out and the manager recommended the symmetry+. So far I’m happy with it.

I switched from otterbox symmetry ( regular symmetry) to otterbox symmetry +pop case. The symmetry pop has the old design so it fits perfectly fine

I have the 14 plus and I don’t recommend otterbox this year, they changed their design and the new ones don’t fit very snugly. They’re a bit loose around the sides. This is just my experience though, maybe yours will be different

Hi Zephyr. Thanks for sharing your 14 Plus experience! For the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, the Symmetry+ is also somewhat loose, but not so much that it is problematic at all. I just find it nice and easy to get on and off. I've been using my 14 Pro Symmetry+ quite a lot since I got my 14 Pro and it has worked out really well. Great hand feel, very slim and fits well with MagSafe accessories because its camera rim isn't too wide. The only negative thing I have noticed is that the sides have picked up a bit of dirt over time. It's the Lilac case, and light colored rubber is notorious for having color change issues.
I hope you can do review about hoda cases for iphone 14 pro. It’s a company from Taiwan.

@@TheTechReviewer i am not sure about copying another brand. But their cases are really good quality. The best feeling on hands in my opinion. I had the case for iphone 13 pro. I have to wait one more month to have it for iphone 14 pro.

The symmetry case this year is the same as the otter box aneu case that you could only get from Apple or otter box last year. They only changed the buttons on the side to match the same color as the case this year.
Hi Britney! You are very right...this year's Symmetry has a strong resemblance to the Aneu case. I didn't get a chance to check out the Aneu last year, but the one for the iPhone 12 Pro had stickier sides then this year's Symmetry. Almost too grippy. This year's Symmetry+ cases have the perfect amount of grip on the sides, in my view at least.
Some of the Symmetry+ cases this year have contrasting buttons as well, but most have colors matching the case, as you pointed out.
Do you have this year's Symmetry+ case, Britney? If so, are you liking it?
@@TheTechReviewer I did get the symmetry+ this year and besides the the camera cut out it looks just like the aneu that I got last year and I changed the buttons last year from another otter box so I didn’t have the grey buttons. At the moment I’m not using my otterbox, I’m using a Matt black Casetify impact case with MagSafe and cherry blossoms on the back. It’s become my signature case. I use to only use otterbox.

It's never occurred to me to switch out buttons on a Symmetry case. Is it easy? I've done it with RHINOSHIELD cases frequently: you just push the old ones inward and push the new ones outward. Very easy. Are Symmetry buttons changed the same way?

Sure! Of course, personal preference will vary and not everyone is going to feel comfortable with every color. But there are no ‘boy colors’ or ‘girl colors’ . It’s whatever brightens your day!!

Is it grippier than the old symmetry cases?
It depends upon what timeframe you are asking about. OtterBox Symmetry cases used to be pretty slippery, but then they added in a lot more grip in 2018. These new Symmetry cases are maybe a bit more grippy than the ones in 2018...I find them to be absolutely grippy enough, particularly the solid color ones. The solid color Symmetry cases have a little more grip on the sides, and the back is a bit textured, so they feel the most secure in the hand. The graphics Symmetry cases are in the middle, and then the least grippy are the clear Symmetry cases. These new Symmetry cases are quite similar to the OtterBox Aneu, if you are familiar with that case...

If your looking for a grippy case try the smartish gripzilla case, I was looking for a grippy case and tried that one, found it to be a solid case
