I'm surprised you didn't include the Igloo Playmate. I bought mine in 1984 when I started working and I'm still using it today. It still works the same as it did 40 years ago, even after a tumble off the roof of my car. Doh!
Big overlook here in my opinion. Maybe it's the Chicago area but easily the most common lunchbox I see on jobsites. I have the same Playmate that I bought in 2004 and works great. Seems like testing lighters and missing the classic Bic.
Air conditioners window units, small like 5,000 btu to large like 18 to 24,000 btu. it would be wonderful to have you do a test run on those. especially since i need to buy a new large window unit now lol. i appreciate you Todd. keep up the great work. you are one of my heroes. i tell all of my friends about your show.

It would be nice to hear the pros/cons. Thanks for all you do. Your data helps me find what's best based on my specific needs and budget. ❤
I concur! I just replaced a GE 6000BTU that had the blower suddenly go get with a similar sized Denali Aire (I guess that's what I get for saving big money at Menards...) and the blower on this thing is so weak it barely blows air beyond the unit
I have rocked the husky one for a decade, It was 12 bucks at Home Depot. It’s held up great, I work in a shop so it’s definitely not abused on a job site but no strap or zipper failures. 3 years ago I got the wife a top&top brand with its own Tupperware and she still brags that the lunch box and the leatherman are the most useful gifts she has ever received!
I bought a small Rubbermaid cooler with a reusable ice pack back in 1994. I still use it to this day 5 days a week for my lunch. Definitely built to last😁 Have a great Sunday Todd.
Same...but my Igloo Playmate is still around after 36 years. I used to pack it full of several sandwiches, drinks, ice packs, and potato chip bags - almost couldn't close the lid - and it would all be gone BEFORE lunch, and I'd still buy a couple sandwiches from the roach coach. After eating all that I still was losing weight daily. Oh, the magic of youth.
Get the Stanley 7QT cooler for $50. It's built like a tank, doesn't leak, has a life time warranty, and it is strong enough for a 350 lb guy to use it as a step stool. Trust me, it's the last lunch box you will ever have to buy. It also keeps ice for 14 hours in 110 degree Texas sun.
Todd, it may pain you to wreck the products, but showing the true durability will end up saving your viewers money in the long run by not purchasing something that won't last! We appreciate the lengths you go to with your testing and comparisons. ❤
Thank you for always buying and reviewing products! I came from a poor family background and still struggle today and wish i could find a way to do this kind of work, too! I've had the Husky since 2017. No rips and all the zippers still work. Keeps stuff cold with 1 small ice pack all day. 👍👍5⭐️. Great review as usual. 👍👍
I bought the Husky cooler for $20 bucks at Home Depot over 9 years ago, and it has held together incredibly well. I'm retired now, but I still use it every now and then for road trips. Probably the best bargain and most useful out of my entire collection of coolers.
Gives me fuzzies?? Um, no thanks. That comment sounds like certain media talking heads who got fuzziness over the appearance of a certain candidate. Yuck!
Really loved that you showed a Stanley Classic. It was one of the first things i purchased when i went out on my own. Still have the same one over 10 years later.
I have a Stanley 7QT cooler that survived 10 years in the West Tx oilfield. It's been ran over by forklifts, fell off oil well platforms, kicked around, dropped on the concrete, used as a step stool for 330 lb guys, etc. It is the toughest lunch cooler ever. It will also hold ice for 14 hours in direct sun light in 110 degrees weather. It also doesn't leak, no fabric to tear, and impossible to crush your food. I'm really surprised it didn't get tested. I guarantee you it would have beat all of these here.

You are saving me money 2 ways: 1. Making taking my lunch more viable (vs. buying from a cart) 2. Showing me the min/max point for lunchboxes. Thanks again!
I've been bringing that Husky lunchbox to work every day for over 4 years. Other than being dirty, it has no wear or damage whatsoever. That thing is a steal for only $30.
The grassroots are watching and loving what you do brother. We see where you came from and we love you for you remaining so grounded. Keep being the badass you are brother and thank you
To be fair, The Scooby Doo was designed to hold a PB&J, some celery and/or carrot sticks, a small sealed drink and some chips in sandwich bag. Possible some cookies if you were lucky. Its only job was to keep things from getting too smashed in our back packs.
We had the opportunity orange one with a thermos built into the top with a white retaining thingy. It was durable and held stuff, about it. Any IP from the 80s had the same box with a different sticker slapped on it. Ghost Busters, GI joe, my little pony etc.
Your format for testing should be adopted by the U.S. Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and for contracts in ALL sectors not limited to: Aircraft, Warships, etc. Thank you for your service.
Had the carhart a few years ago, alot of guys i work with have the typical playmate and i switched to that 2 years ago, straps to my motorcycle well and easy to clean
Mom would use brown bags that were expected to make it home. I chose to walk home for lunch but for school trips I got a brown bag. In high school brown bags were the best because they fit into our gym bags.
The yeti and veto should come with a lock and chain to keep it from being stolen! I'm with you on intentional damage, hate to see things intentionally damaged Don't care much for those channels that destroy things for no reason, other than destruction. I appreciate everything you do to keep your viewers informed on products.
The klein lunchbox has a hasp to put a padlock in. Good feature if you keep medications or your wallet or other private things in your lunch box. Granted it is only a plastic lock hasp, but it will deter an opportunistic theif. It is also rated to sit/stand on the lid up to 300 lbs. With a solid steel rod in the hinge, and the nylon sling webbing runs all the way underneath the box to capture the load, rather than relying on a plastic attachment point.
Great video as always. My work lunchbox was the plastic grocery bag - I recycled it !! Expandable, could hold different sized containers....with home cooked meals. Came free with my groceries.... Still use them when son comes over and takes food home...grab a bag.
I've had my eye on the Yeti for over a year now, but after watching this, I'll probably end up getting a Veto. I've never even heard of that company, but it seems like they make a very high quality product. I'm always happy to pay more for a good product made in the USA. Thanks, PF!!
Anecdotal evidence, but I have a Veto tool bag (they sell them at our contractor supply store) and it is built very well. I have it packed to the brim and it has held up perfectly for a few years now!
After having a few lunchboxes die from the weather or the zipper dieing and going months with a broken zipper I finally did some research and went with the slightly bigger veto with the extra top compartment and it feels league's above any bag I've ever had. The only downside is its very heavy and bulky but for the short walk to throw it in the back of a vehicle it's not to bad, especially knowing it can take the abuse. The top compartment on the bigger one has a slide out tray which is great for storing glasses cases and other stuff. Look to see if there are any deals on, got a bonus toolbag via redemption when I got mine which helps justify the cost
Also combining it with the 1 gallon yeti water bottle and I cant think of anything better. The 1 gallon yeti ended up being the only water bottle I use goes from work to the bedside table

I worked in the West Tx oilfield for many years. The best lunch box is the Stanley 7QT cooler. It has more insulation than any other cooler, it could keep ice in 110 degree heat for the entire day, it's reasonably priced at $50. It doesn't leak even if flipped over. I backed into mine with a diesel powered off-road forklift and smashed it between the forklift and a bulldozer and it STILL didn't break it. It just cut the plastic up a little. It literally stopped the forklift from smashing into the bulldozer. They are as tough as you can get. By the time you put a couple 32 oz drinks in it, a sandwich or two, and a ice pack or two, its about just the perfect size. Trust me I've owned every lunch box known to man and this one checks all the boxes. It will last you a lifetime as well. Literally, they have a life time warranty.
The PackIt seems like a good choice for keeping stuff cold on the cheap. I like that you can just freeze the bag instead of messing around with ice packs.
I was cleaning my late father in law’s house. I came cross an old tiffin box (he was originally from Pakistan). The man worked in construction and raised an entire family on a modest income. He ate from that lunch box for two decades.
Yeah, the 8-can version RTIC lunchbox isn't $35 anymore! It's sold out practically everywhere online. With one "Entrepreneur" on eBay selling them for $75 - $90 depending on color option! Less than 24 hours after this video was uploaded, inflation turned ugly on us, on this lunchbox. _Thankfully you're not using your channel to try and take over the world._ I did manage to snag one though. From one of the extremely few sites that still has them. Definitely did NOT pay $75 for mine. Even got it imprinted with my initials. Still, won't lie I did pay over $35 for it. And, the site I bought mine from, had to whip out my credit card as payment. Great review.
When I was a kid we couldn't afford a fancy Scooby-Do lunch box. Everything was wrapped in Aluminum foil. In the winter we had 2 baked potatoes wrapped in foil. Place them in our pockets for hand warmers as we walked to school "up hill" and then have them for lunch. Don't get me started on the Wonder Bread bag boot liners with rubber bands. 🥴
@@Mushroom.Madness. ...yep, I grew up with parents that re-used aluminum foil AND washed out ziploc bags (propping them open with a popsicle stick), drying them out for re-use. My folks survived the Great Depression, and that frugality was definitely hard-won.
Got the Husky bag because of this video. Wasnt even aware it existed, and am so happy with it. Built super well, keeps cool, comfortable to carry. Fantastic value for money.
I use something similar to the Coleman. The one I use fits in every machine that I might be operating on any given day. Temp regulation doesn't matter, but sometimes the cheese on my sandwiches can melt. And watertight isn't an issue either. But now I may be shopping for a different brand, but not a $200 one! Great video!
Idea: Best thermal camera? I'd like to get one to check the house for air leaks but there are a handful of devices out there with very little objective information online.

Lol!
@@ProjectFarm I liked it, that you restored the battered Scooby-Doo box, as maybe a few little children (who happen to watch "Project Farm" at a young age) were already crying !

I wish Todd would have used a old school thick steel Scooby Doo box from the 70's. Those were pretty tough.
Not just kids Zoon, as a late 50's big kid i too was tearing up seeing that iconic Scooby lunch box geiing beaten up. Always watch everyrhing Top Man Todd tests but this one had me peeping from between the fingers.😂

Born in 1960 to a lower income family. I would have been thrilled to had a Scooby-Doo are any other cartoons lunch box. I had to carry brown bag with my name on it, and had to bring it back home so it could be reused.
Thanks for the feedback.
It's always respectful to hear about someone's own respect for their humble beginnings.
It’s always nice you point out both the what’s affordable and the most expensive in case folks just want the affordable. Really helps.
I would like to see a review of portable power stations, like Jackery, Anker ect. Usually used for overlanding and powering 12v. equipment. That would be nice to see.
While I'm happy not to *NEED* to use a lunchbox anymore, I still have Dad's metal mailbox shaped one from the early fifties. It's hanging up on display in the garage. I *LOVE* the thoroughness of your testing, Todd!! Thanks for the video! 👍
Thanks and you are welcome!
I'm surprised you didn't include the Igloo Playmate. I bought mine in 1984 when I started working and I'm still using it today. It still works the same as it did 40 years ago, even after a tumble off the roof of my car. Doh!
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
Big overlook here in my opinion. Maybe it's the Chicago area but easily the most common lunchbox I see on jobsites. I have the same Playmate that I bought in 2004 and works great. Seems like testing lighters and missing the classic Bic.
The forever lunch cooler. And doesn't cost even close to $200
Also the Igloo Trailmate 18 which is a direct competitor to the Yeti!
We have the Igloo playmate too. My wife brought it to the marriage and she got it from her step dad. That things has to be 40 years old.

Another great idea. All the classrooms got portable heating and cooling models that exchange air and dehumidify during Covid return, all except preschool rooms. It would be nice to hear the pros/cons.
Thanks for all you do. Your data helps me find what's best based on my specific needs and budget. ❤
I concur! I just replaced a GE 6000BTU that had the blower suddenly go get with a similar sized Denali Aire (I guess that's what I get for saving big money at Menards...) and the blower on this thing is so weak it barely blows air beyond the unit
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Same. I'm still using my grandfather's Coleman cooler that he was using in the mines. It's the best lunch pale.
This man got all these lunchboxes just to destroy them so we know which ones the best. Total legend!
Thanks!
It is so needed, not just for the working man but for accountability to these companies that make extraordinary claims about their products! Be safe!

I bought the Husky cooler for $20 bucks at Home Depot over 9 years ago, and it has held together incredibly well. I'm retired now, but I still use it every now and then for road trips. Probably the best bargain and most useful out of my entire collection of coolers.

Veto makes THE BEST tool bags. I had no clue they made a lunch pail. Yet another very impressive and detailed video!
One of my best purchases is my Veto TP bag. Carries everything I need, and it just feels so right and gives me the fuzzies every time I pick it up.
Gives me fuzzies?? Um, no thanks. That comment sounds like certain media talking heads who got fuzziness over the appearance of a certain candidate. Yuck!
@@Alpha-Leader I, as well as all of my staff, use the Pro Pack TP-XXL and we love them. Will be looking to actually buy the lunch pail in the future.

Did anyone else notice the spider walking around inside the black DeWalt bag when he opened it? 😂
The Dewalt cooler at 6:35 came with an add-on, A SPIDER INSIDE!!!! 🤣🤣😂😂
Lol Thanks for watching!
poor little guy probably drowned during the leak test.
it was already there at 6:12
Appreciate the commentary about the product destruction. Just another thing that makes this channel great.
there is something putting my mind at rest while watching you putting diverse object through misuse and destructive tests to asses the truth between marketing claims and lies.
I know it may not be easy for you to destroy such new items, but I'm always amazed at how you seems to always find a way to assess products in any way that may be pertinent for the viewer. You are always my go-to way when I'm considering buying something that I know nothing about. You desserve every single of your suscribers, patreon, and even more for your hard work.
You are saving me money 2 ways:
1. Making taking my lunch more viable (vs. buying from a cart)
2. Showing me the min/max point for lunchboxes.

Glad I could help!
I've been bringing that Husky lunchbox to work every day for over 4 years. Other than being dirty, it has no wear or damage whatsoever. That thing is a steal for only $30.

To be fair, The Scooby Doo was designed to hold a PB&J, some celery and/or carrot sticks, a small sealed drink and some chips in sandwich bag. Possible some cookies if you were lucky. Its only job was to keep things from getting too smashed in our back packs.
Be fair? He was using it as a control. It wasn't expected to excel at anything. It was the lowest possible common denominator. It's a "lunch box".

I can't believe it! I had that Scooby Doo lunchbox as a kid! The thermos had a red top.

I've had my eye on the Yeti for over a year now, but after watching this, I'll probably end up getting a Veto. I've never even heard of that company, but it seems like they make a very high quality product. I'm always happy to pay more for a good product made in the USA. Thanks, PF!!
No problem
Anecdotal evidence, but I have a Veto tool bag (they sell them at our contractor supply store) and it is built very well. I have it packed to the brim and it has held up perfectly for a few years now!
@@shreddymcwheat Thank you. I appreciate the info.

While the Scooby Doo is LEGIT, there is no picture of the mystery machine, so I go with an old CB Bears lunch box, STRAIGHT BOSS.
@6:12 that spooder was having a good time till things went sideways.
Wish you’d have done this about 3 months ago before I bought the Yeti😢, the zipper is a real pita. Keep up the great work brotherman!
The PackIt seems like a good choice for keeping stuff cold on the cheap. I like that you can just freeze the bag instead of messing around with ice packs.

Great job reviewing those lunch boxes. Definitely is so helpful if you're in the market to get one. You are the best!!!
_Thankfully you're not using your channel to try and take over the world._
I did manage to snag one though.
