  • *Not my property/not for-profit.* Kapp Records K-2085 : Originally formed in East L.A. as The VIPs, El Chicano was one of the first East Los bands born out of the political climate of the late 1960s and 1970s. Original members included The Salas Brothers (latter of Tierra) and Ersi Arvizu (formally of The Sisters). "Viva Tirado" is a jazzy cover of the Gerald Wilson song about a bullfighter. The song did very well both locally and nationally, remaining at #13 for three straight weeks and eventually earning Gold status. Bobby Espinosa is the man on the Hammond Organ. As a young man, my music teacher Scott Rodarte-- of the amazing East Los band Ollin-- had Mr. Espinosa over at his house and I got to jam with him. R.I.P. Mr Espinosa, and thank you for the beautiful sounds.
This is a direct vinyl transfer, straight from the platter to the line-in on my Tascam digital recorder, saved as a 24-bit .WAV file, and synced to the video.* Always #ortofon
