The Sisters - I'll Get Another - [Direct Vinyl Transfer] - 1960s Eastside LA Sound
**Not my property/not for-profit.** September Records #101 First time on UA-cam! The Arvizu Sisters were a trio from East LA comprising sisters Ersi, Rosella, and Mary. According to Mark Guerrero, the sisters came from a musical family, and it was Rosella whom Billy Cardenas initially spotted performing at Garfield High School Sports Night. Cardenas recruited the other two Arvizu sisters and The Sisters was born. A number of local groups, including Ronnie & The Pomona Casuals and The Premiers, backed The Sisters when playing live. After just a couple of years and three singles, The Sisters broke up in late 1966. Rosella continued with Ronnie & The Casuals and in the last several decades has performed ranchera music. Ersi performed at different times with El Chicano, The Village Callers, and an early incarnation of Tierra. Mary became involved in her religious community. Most recently, Ersi participated in Ry Cooder's Chavez Ravine project. The sisters reunited as La Chicana & Her Revue (featuring former El Chicano guitarist Mickey Lespron) and they continue to perform occasionally.
This may be The Sisters' first single, before being signed to Del-Fi Records. "I'll Get Another" has Monarch Records matrix number ∆49463, while "Big Time Man" has Monarch Records Matrix number ∆49749. Based on available Monarch mastering logs, this dates the mastering plates of "I'll Get Another" to around September of 1963, while mastering plate of the latter recording can be dated to October of 1963.
**This is a direct vinyl transfer, straight from the platter to the line-in on my Tascam digital recorder, saved as a 24-bit .WAV file, and synced to the video.** Always #ortofon

I have wondered about this record as it could certainly be by The Sisters (Arvizu Sisters) however in a very recent interview with Mark Guerrero, Rosella Arvizu said that the Sisters first time recording was the "Gee Baby Gee" single for Bob Keane at Del-Fi. The timeframe certainly fits and this record was recorded in Los Angeles. The main thing that draws me to your same conclusion is that the flip side " I'll Get Another" was written by Chick Carlton. Chick wrote a lot of records for Eastside Sound groups. Chick was a Facebook friend until his passing. I wish he was still around to enlighten us on the story of this record
I was 9 years old when this song came out. It's always been a great song to listen to whether you're home or driving or anywhere this song is playing.
@@larryvasquez3905 I would have loved to have experienced that time. At least I got to experience East LA in the 90s/00s 😊 Thanks for listening/ keep the oldies alive !
I believe I have a picture...have to look for it.

Very cool beat. The man was a genius and very underappreciated. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome, sounds different than the short 👍
😌

Different from anything I've ever heard of his!
@@mistery-ed7900 It truly is! He was a very versatile and talented musician/songwriter. Thank you for listening!
I think the the Jay Wiggins versionis far more the best, and the Midniters version comes in second place.
These 2 songs by ricky dean are awesome ❤
A great and underrated artist! Thank you for listening.
Thanks for the upload. It's cool hearing my grandpa's record.
Thank you for your comment. As you can tell by the description, I really appreciate this song. A great and under-documented East LA oldie. I am so glad that you get to hear your Grandpa's record! I would love to learn more about his/the other members' lives. It is very hard to find the Topp Catt releases like those from The Results--I froze when I founded it in a DJ's "dollar bin." I will cherish it forever :)
This music brings me back to those great times growing up in the 50's & 60's!
I grew up in the 90s/00s. I liked my time too, but I wish I had been there for the era of the best music lol....

@trojanguy60
I've always made it a point to collect most anything on the Donna and Del-Fi label and have never been disappointed as Bob had a talent for finding great artists.
Yup. There was a time when a label mattered. It actually stood for an ethic on the part of the artists and the management. One way that I like to "blind collect" is choosing a flipper issued through an indie label using LA-local home addresses. Never dissatisfied. LA had so many great artists and musical scenes in the mid-late 20th cen.
Great classic
Great version of a great classic.
This is definitely one for my playlist in jan twenty four, shame it wasn't longer. A rockin track nevertheless 👍😎👍🏴🏴

Hello there. Thank you for reaching out. I have lots of memories to share about your father. Mrs. Oricoli was my 4th grade teacher as well. Would you like to connect by email? - Damian
I had reached out after your father passed away, but I understand your family was probably dealing with a lot at that time. I would love to reconnect and provide whatever support I can.

No! I forgot who they are! But was to cash on Rosie Hamilton, & Ron Holden! You can look them up on Google!
Close! Lucy Duran ("Rosie") told me herself recently that Bob Keane chose the moniker Rosie and Ron to cash in on ROSIE and the Originals & RON Holden. "Angel Baby" was one of the biggest songs in SoCal at the time, as was Ron Holden in general. Thanks for listening! On another note, there has been a long-standing rumor that Lucy Duran actually sang "Angel Baby"....but I didn't want to bother her with asking her that :). Best wishes!
