  • *Not my property/not for-profit.* Billionaire Records B-711-13 : ¡Ay, ay, ay, ay! This is one of the last works released by Raul Garcia, who was best known to the world as "Jonny Chingas." Garcia started playing music when he was young. His earliest professional break, as far as anyone knows, was serving as the Carlos Brothers' live bassist (thanks for the info Guy Aversa!). He recorded music under Rulie Garcia (Y Su Conjunto), The East LA Congregation, Raulie Garcia, Rudy Garcia, and of course, Jonny Chingas. He was a very industrious fellow who nailed many different styles, managed his own distribution, and often performed as a one-man band. He also was a master of gracefully blending styles, in a way that was not contrived or intentionally ironic. "Discorrido" is a great example of this amalgamation, as is "Young Stuff". Raul "Jonny Chingas" Garcia died in 1991. Enjoy this minty fresh copy!
*This is a direct vinyl transfer, straight from the platter to the line-in on my Tascam digital recorder, saved as a 24-bit .WAV file, and synced to the video.* Always #ortofon
