Ukrainian orthodox Christmas: Political change in date sparks divisions

- Ukrainians are celebrating Christmas - again.
The government officially recognised the holiday on December 25.
But not everybody agrees with that change - which is widely seen as a snub to Moscow.
Opinions are divided over the move away from the Orthodox calendar.

Please correct it is not Russian, it is Old Slavonic Church, wich was the language of South Slavs and Slovaks over 1200 years ago. Orthodox Churches in slavic countries all use old church Slavonic. Get informed!
Sorry, but it is misleading and divisive to refer to the liturgical language of the Old Calendar Orthodox Church in this part of the world as ‘Russian’. It is New Church Slavic or just Slavonic (as it was called by its native speakers), is the conservative Slavic liturgical language used by the Eastern Orthodox Church in Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia. The language appears also in the services of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese, and occasionally in the services of the Orthodox Church in America. Most contemporary Russians do not even understand much of it.

They were using Church Slavonic not Russian language.
Why is this an issue?
It is an issue … because if you don’t follow a God commandment then it’ll become subjective just how you see people picking and choosing to fit their own desires, whereas when something is objective it should’ve followed and respected as it’s devine. Remember, we didn’t create ourselves! Question your real existence and purpose in life. That’s why we die. Peace

we celebrated CHristmas on 25th before soviet union came in. So, technically, we are going back to our roots. It has nothing to do with the USA. Christmas is not a US holiday. It's a Billion people holiday.

Note there are no young people inside or celebrating on this day. Everyone who is normal in Ukraine who is an actual future and not the soiviet past, is celebrating on the correct 25th date

This is a misleading report. You interviewed people from the Ukr Orthodox Church MOSCOW Patriarch. the Ukr Orthodox KYIV Patriarch and the Ukr Greek Catholics converted to Dec 25 to celebrate Christmas with their Christian brothers around the world. You should present the facts more balanced.

The Quran was in Arabic (which prophet Mohammed PBUH spoke and is the last a final testament to reaffirm the previous corrupted books. Ask yourself - are the Torah and Bible preserved? Do you know anyone who has memorised? No! Do you have the original text? No! Is the Quran preserved? Yes! Do we have the original text? Yes! Is the Quran memorised by millions? Yes! Please kindly do your research and homework. If you read the English Quran you’ll see and this is the very reason why millions are converting to Islam and people leaving Christianity. FYI: Jesus never preached the trinity - he spoke Aramaic (not English) so if you can’t produce the original text book then respectfully you lose the argument! So be honest to yourself and read.
