As a South African and activist against gender based violence, thank you so much for covering this one!

Perfect timing, I have 3 loads of laundry to fold!
Haha I love this comment I'm cleaning I love listening to her when I'm busy
What an evil, cold, and cruel human being. He deserves more then 32 freaking years. He deserves to rot behind bars for his actions. Rip to such a strong and kind person. Prayers for her family and friends.
As a South African I just wanna say thank you for covering this case. RIP Karabo
@@WideAwakeHuman Yes it is. I hope you never go through it. Rape is rampant in many cultures fathers, brothers, cousins, uncles may take turns in these rapes
As a South African, thanks for this podcast. He had so many excuses, which answer is the truth. She is not here to defend herself.
Rachel, thank you for covering a case! It is important for people to understand that strong, confident women are also victims of abuse. I know, I was one of them. No one would have ever thought I would tolerate abuse from anyone, including me until it happened to me. Abusers break you mentally and emotionally far before the break you physically and they know how to tap your deepest fears and weaknesses. This woman was a bright light and he couldn’t stand to see her shine.
He murdered her but wanted to deflect blame away from him. A real coward!
🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
ONCE AGAIN....
The COPS FAILED a female victim!!
SHAME ON EVERY DAMN COP who had a part in this!
If I were Karabo's parents... I WOULD OWN that damn police dept!
Makes me SO SICK that Karabo went BACK to this EVIL PARASITE!!
Nobody sneaks a body and burns it if they got nothing to hide. Why would he have to do that if she supposedly committed suicide? He’s guilty af. Thank god he’s rotting in jail, I absolutely agree with the courts statement, he’s only sad he was caught.
If you know someone being abused by someone living with him or her, please be willing to bring that someone into your home. You just may save a life.
I’ve told my neighbor I’ll pay for her hotel but I have kids and I can’t have her husband coming over here angry
@@DevHazy Good job. Pay for her distance from him Then encourage her to do the right thing and report the creep to the police. There are options in place everywhere fir abused wives and husbands.
I also know someone who was murdered while we were in South Africa. We were meant to meet with him the very next day. He was murdered by a poaching gang. RIP Anton Mzimba
Please cover the Thabo Bester case. A currently ongoing case that shocked the whole of South Africa. It’s about a convicted rapist & killer who escaped prison through the help of a well known celebrity doctor. It’s a crazy case, definitely something out of a hollywood movie
RIP! South Africa need to do something the volume of women being killed or raped by men is horrendous.
I appreciate the way you talk about every victim. You are always so respectful and so empathetic, thank you for that and thank you for covering cases like Karabo’s.
We need more Judge like that around the world. We need more people like us and people of law who think like this in our society. ♡
Sorry my english is so basic..
Yes but what the judge says means nothing because of how complacent South Africa is with domestic violence, specifically against women.
Absolutely love☺️ I’m across the world, but it’s still sort of empowering to hear justice and those words advocating for us. Now to enforce this!!! Aroha (love and strength) Kia Kaha
As a South African, thank you for this case❤️
There is so much happening here that the world doesn't even know about because it doesn't get reported on
While she willingly chose to approach him at the bar she doesn't deserve to have her name tarnished.
Such a sad and senseless murder. Excellent coverage of this case.
My love and sympathy to her family and friends. She was a gorgeous and talented young woman, gone way too soon. I’m glad her killer, that monster was caught and put behind bars.
As a South African, Thank you for sharing this case.
Oh my goodness, my stepdad was in the army in South Africa, he would be called to places where there are people burning... They were not allowed to do a Mercy kill but if the body was in the tire then there is no way to put it out... He would be forced to stand there and watch and wait until the fire went out. To this day, he can only smell burning flesh and tires.
That man is sick, he knew what he was doing.
How can a mother see her daughter getting abused by a man and not personally come to take her own daughter! I could not……
yea but if someone doesn’t want to leave how can you make them, she even want back to him after being put in the hospital by him!
I have gotten 2 of my daughters out of those situations but I can see how a mom could feel helpless and frustrated after the daughter goes back to him.If you go in and grab her ,he could hurt you or force her to press charges on you. With my oldest daughter,I had the hardest time but I was willing to go in guns ablazing ,regardless of the repercussions and she knew I would. She was too emotionally broken to fight for herself .I will say her ex HATES me but ask me if I care🤷♀️
My parents begged me to leave my Mr. Wrong after my neck was dislocated. I fell for the whole "we'll start over, it'll be a new beginning" MYTH. If I had it to do over I would have dumped him after the 2nd date. He was just like Sandilye, obsessed with STUFF, bombastic, unfeeling, and violent.
You cant chain them up to keep them safe, they go back willingly i did, it took me along time before i learned the lession fate was trying to teach me, they say promises are a comfot to a fool, because only a fool belives in empty promises, i was that fool.
Your voice is perfectly soothing, thank you for sharing these cases. I’m a house cleaner & literally listen to all your videos as I work!
This guy has to be the dumbest person ever! In what universe do you find your partner dead and instead of calling Police you just choose to burn the body? Thank God I've never been in this situation but I just don't think burning a body would be my first thought. Dear God help this family.
Thank you for covering this case and doing so with so much respect and detailed coverage. Also appreciate that you covered a South African case! Warm regards from a South African viewer😊
Beautiful young lady. Only 3 months. He was an angry monster before she ever met him. Prayers to her family.
She was beautiful and full of light and you can clearly see how he broke her down as time went on. God bless her.
I'm not blaming the victim, but we need to heed warnings and believe ppl when they show their true selves...
This is just sad❤❤❤
Stop going back ladies.
This is premeditated muder. Karabo thought he would apologize for beating her into the hospital. I think this would have been the drop that made the cup run over for him.
If the police was as good as this judge, Karabo would be alive. Brushing off violence against women as a lovers fight is a new low for bad police work. RIP Karabo. 🕊️
Girl you are on it !! So many videos and I know that can’t be easy I love your videos !!!
@@RachelShannon no thank you!! Keep up the great videos !! Can’t wait for the next 💥
She was one of the finest amongst us. A terrible loss to her country and the world.
My heart 💔 this beautiful woman fought for others and ended up passing in the same type of situation 😔 it seems so cruelly ironic...
some godly man
My blood is boiling. I am a R*** Crisis Counselor and Victim Advocate. I deal with instances of domestic violence all the time. The “explanations” and stories he puts forth are no more valid than the intelligence insulting ones given by abusers in the rest of the world. He planned this from the moment he realized he almost killed her the first time. This makes me want to get my law degree and move to SA to get justice for these women left in the lurch by these assholes.
😩💔 She was so beautiful!! My condolences to her family. May God give them comfort and support. ❤🌹
Thank you for covering this case. So very sad. It - the abuse- can happen to anyone.
There is a war on women everywhere.....rip beautiful one❤
You pronounce their names perfectly ❤
Thank you! I listened to the way the “South African True Crime” podcast pronounced the names to make sure I had them right! :)
Karabo was a beautiful young woman with a beautiful soul. I do not know enough about South African culture to comment on any ritual, but this horrific death has all the signs of domestic violence. It is hard to comprehend a woman cutting her own throat when simply piercing the jugular or cutting her wrists would accomplish the same sad outcome. I was impressed by the respectful courtroom decorum and the stoicism and composure displayed by the members of her family and of the community that loved her. We don't always see that sort of grace in US courtrooms. I hope her family feels a little less pain with each passing day and that they are constantly reminded of how amazing she was. She deserved so much better than what that monster did to her.
My step dad grew up there, violence is sadly a major issue there. Education goes so far for community.... God I wish all these billionaires would pull up their sleeves
She was such a beautiful, incredible woman...I can't believe this one 🫣😥🫤😡
Really pleased to see a SAn case as a very regular of your channel. Gender based violence remains a plight in our country.
my opinion the judge should have gave him life without parole prayers for the family of karabo
If the death penalty is an option there then he deserves that IMO if it is not then life without parole would be ok too.
I didn't appreciate that he order some of the sentences to be served concurrently instead of consecutively
Thank you so much for covering this case . Les from South Africa 🇿🇦
So many Saffas here 🇿🇦❤
Thank you so much for bringing more light to this case 🙏🏻
R.I.P Beautiful Karabo, 💔💔 Such a horrid way to die.
That narcissistic cruel beast really didn’t get enough punishment
Thank you to the Judge for being such an advocate for Karabo.
Right. It happens too much. Men who do these things seldom get enough punishment and not only in South Africa there is definitely world wide problem of Domestic violence and gender based violence. In the US they often don't give them nearly long enough sentences and that is if they are even given prison time at all and they don't just give them basically a warning and probation. It's very disrespectful to the victims of these crimes. It's like the judge is saying "you don't matter" to them.
@@NikkiC777 Nikki. Here in Australia it took a man to kill his son (9 I think ) front of his mother and his cricket team Mother had an AVO against him for family violence but he time and time again broke the intervention order without the police helping much. Laws were changed then and made it much harsher thank goodness. But it’s too late once someone is killed.
Thank you Shannon for always keeping us aware of what is truly going on around us. My heart goes out to African women the injustice they have to endure. This is so wrong. I personally feel that. Monster should have gotten life in prison.
As South Africans, we thank you for covering this case..
RIP KB
I have a son in his thirty year,Sins he was little i have say,if there is aggression, you never fight you leave, and your partner deseve respect, and this is the same from women to men, adult shall not fight infront of there children
Love, peace and understanding☮️☮️☮️we must stop the war and violens Over the world, and it begins at home
Unfortunately here in South Africa domestic violence is seen as an inconvenience to most of our police force. 😢 There are the few that are sympathetic, but it's very rarely taken seriously.
Is it ever really a mannequin? It is not ever. The brain amazes me of how it protects itself from tramatic situations. We as humans though must go further to investigate.
When I was a cop I was behind a commercial building checking things out when I saw what looked like a dead body laying beside a dumpster. Like the amount of adrenaline that got dumped was huge. As I got closer I realized it was, in fact, the bottom half of a mannequin. So actually, most of the time it’s a mannequin, but when it’s a mannequin it doesn’t show up on the true crime stories. lol
I saw a “ mannequin” in an empty train box car n told my gf n bestie n they tried to convince me it was “ just a mannequin” n my response was the same… no. No it’s not. It only ever a mannequin if you don’t investigate further
Jealousy and control run amuck, is an evil monster. 🧟♂️
You are doing a great job🎉❤
Have heard about Emelie Mengs case.
We got the Guy!
//danish girl 😊
This is ridiculous that the relationship was only 3 months long!!! I don’t get why she told her mom & sent her pics without immediately leaving? Like why tell your mom unless it’s to tell her you’re coming home? This guy was soooooo not worth it. She could have done so much better, poor girl.
Shocking 😔
Listening from Germany🇩🇪….hi Ms. Shannon.!👍
I spent some time with two of the guys from the Trillion Dollar Legacy group, without realising it. Imagine my shock seeing their faces in videos with this murdery charlatan. There was always something strange and secretive about them and their previous business ventures (when I met them they had a new company together and we had offices in the same building). This would have been right after what happened to Karabo, and now I know why. Sweet J was / am I ever sickened.
Amazing Judge! 💖

she was a beautiful young lady. May she rest in paradise🙏🏽🦋🌹🌹🌹
Yayyy! Thunderstorms and Rachel's true crime at the same time! Only thing that would make this better would be a bowl of my own cooked spaghetti! #hungry
I love them, too! But lightening storms, not so much. Lightening hit my house and took out only my stove, lol. Crazy.
Thanks for covering South African crime stories 🇿🇦.
NB: while you covering our crime stories, I am suggesting that you follow/cover "Thabo Bester", I am telling you it is out of this world
Truly tragic and utterly sad case..
She deserved so much more.
In my opinion, I believe this was no ritual killing or sacrifice. He burned her body thinking the evidence against him would be destroyed as well. He thought he was the smartest guy in the room, but as we learn time and time again, it doesn't take much in the brain dept to make a lot of money or live the flashy life.. many total idiots have accomplished this. 🙄
No, this was a guy who's pride, ego and self inflated status couldn't allow this beautiful woman to leave, or live life on her terms alongside him.
He wanted total, unconditional control over her, and when she began to get over this relationship, and realize the only person he truly loved was himself, she woke from the haze she had been in, and began getting her feet under her. The blinders came off and she was ready to be on her own again.
He was not ready for this and didn't think she'd ever grow out of this relationship, and he finally did something about it.
It's so easy to convince yourself that things will change, this was the last time, etc.. but this is rarely, if ever, the case.
The moment someone shows you who they really are, believe them. Run the other way..
I love your videos... I just wish they were louder so I could hear them.
It's one of the worst killings to pass away from is necklace killings. It's something that's done in South Africa. Normally, the person is still alive .
That advertisement that he filmed for his company was not confidence inspiring for a customer, client, or investor at all lol. Or at least it shouldn't have been. I got major internet scam vibes from it. Like the feeling that they are romance scamners or investment scammers etc....
My mom always told me u never know a person until to move in with them
RIP, Karabo (1995-2017) 💔
How can she take out her own organs?? Like once she’s cut open and bleeding out, how can she even continue to jus take out her organs and also being in extreme pain… this is so sad. Beautiful woman and this man did not deserve her!!! 😢
Ms.Shannon
The totality of Your endeavours staggers My modest mind.
Well done,Young Lady!
Just cuz I'm a piglet...were You ever blonde...?
Bring on the hate...
It's just so sad how the South African authorities take time to actually investigate some visibly triggering and disturbing cases and the fact that they continued to let him try to paint this young lady a bad person and him changing his story multiple times is crazy to me, like how does that even happen?, it's clear that he's been lying and changing his story but they continue letting him say one more crazy and nonsensical story about the incident, and that he was only charged for homicide(I'm not sure), but regardless of me not being sure I just feel like they'd do that in South Africa, and I also feel like they could easily be bribed to make the case to look cold while there's a lot of evidence being destroyed in the process.
So sad 😢
I got my ribs kicked in and broken by a guy but bc I was t dating or living with him they put it in the newspaper as a "fight" btwn a 19 yr old woman and a 24 year old man and let him go. He ended up doing prison time for rape years later. They never cared what happened to me in the corrupt city im from. It makes me sick wondering how many other women haven't gotten Justice here and how many have been victims of the result of cops not caring about prior reports. One guy from the east side (Detroit) moved here and went to my middle school. He broke my nose and sexually assaulted two girls, and they did nothing till after he broke a boy's jaw. It angers me to see how poorly we are treated here, and especially other countries that are even worse to the female population .
When will you do an update on Bryan Kohberger case?
in this case it should be fitting we an additional punishment in form of severe torture
Sadly, this is the standard of the South African Police Service. I once reported my cellphone being stolen for insurance purposes and while taking my statement the police officer asked if it was on contract, which I confirmed and she then refused to further take my statement and scolded me for wasting her time when I could just upgrade 😂
Ritual? He sold them.
🙏🙏🙏
She was so pretty 🕊️
I agree I definitely think he killed her by stabbing her in the neck.
Rest In Peace to Karabo I hope her and her family are able to find some kind of healing and peace of some sort.
I hope this asshat serves the whole sentence!!
I visited Joburg last year for a few days during my trip to South Africa. Sadly I witnessed a man pass away due to a collision with a vehicle and his bicycle. Someone was very poorly and incorrectly trying to do CPR on the man but it was pretty clearly too late :( this is the second time I have seen a cyclist killed by a motorist while abroad.
I like the purple hair
😊❤
All she had to do was leave the club why go up to him why wasn’t she scared of him after the beating
👍👍👍👍
I wish he'd gotten life in prison but maybe that was the maximum sentence there. Regardless I agree that judge was awesome and told it like it is. This guy is a complete monster and "devil in disguise" for sure (& not even a very good disguise at that). 👹
I am from South Africa and this is a daily occurrence. My lady friend is also a black lady. She kept on telling us that her brother is dangerous and she was scared of him. He's a drug dealer and his very violent. We went to the Police on a number of occasions. The police did nothing to protect her as according to them his not a threat. 2 years ago she got stabbed to death by her own brother. Our law even states. You are not allowed to shoot if someone is in your yard as you don't know if he's a threat or if his armed. What's he doing in your yard in the first place? We have the highest gender-based violence in the world.
They have the nerve to blame apartheid. We didn't have this in apartheid. Old black people come to me and say., in apartheid they had food, they had work and they had a roof over their heads. Now they have nothing. The Government is so corrupt that they want to take away old people's pensions so they can steal more. Our old Power CEO went to Netherlands for help and they accused him of racism because he went to white people for help. Now that is he gone. the New CEO did the same and his God's gift to everyone. They wanted to use our old CEO to make an example of someone so they don't take responsibility. He exposed them for what they are in an interview and he had to leave the country because the Government could not handle the truth.
Only thing that will save this country is Capital punishment. I am not for the death penalty because there are people wrongly convicted. The Government's argument is that they have human rights. What about the victims. Where was the humanity when he brutally raped and murdered that innocent child or woman? They got locked up for couple years and then get released other because the jail is over crowded or good behavior. South Africa Doesn't need a South African Government because we have to much history. We need a 3rd party Government Govern't by an International party...
That judges words were everything, the way he effortlessly skull dragged this monster whilst been a Voice for abused and murdered women 👏👏👏👏
Agreed. Good on that judge
