I saw them last night in a "club show" ...Niagara Falls NY. I was fortunate enough to be standing right against the stage in front of White's mike stand. The band and the show blew me away. They ended their show with a blistering version of this cut...very similar to this performance. Then came the encore...last song: Carolina Drama
This song has the level of a classical rock song. It is rock, blues, soul and very raw. This will be one of the songs that I will make mychildren listen every day
I did this morning during breakfast. My son is ten and he was like hypnotized. When it stops ha looked at me and said, I agree this is really really good
Absolutely amazing, one of best from this impeccable band this and dead weather by far the best projects jack White has formed we are lucky to still have these musicians this day in age.
everyone talks about Jack White's insane guitar playing but Jack Lawrence's and Brenden Benson's bass and rythmn guitar playing accent the song perfectly
Jack's made cry so many times, I really can't believe his talent, his presence is huge on the stage. I just recently saw The Racounteurs and that was the experience of my life. #JACKISGOD
This might be the sloppiest solo I've ever heard but it was filled with emotions which makes it a pretty good one. This kids, this is what every guitar player should learn to do, it isn't how technical you play, or how many notes you shred in a second, it's how you transpose your emotions and the way you feel to your riffs, licks and solos.
Batuhan Mert OnerlubasGreat isn't it? Has nothing to do with flash and s..t Not being a musician, but just a listener, I don't even think it's sloppy. It's just magic to me.
I couldn't agree more with you. I'm no great guitarist but I put myself in to what I play. I just wish I could afford a better amp . It's cheapness ($28) does give it a certain snap, crackle and pop. I just sometimes though would like to have a little clarritity.
All of his solos sound like that, he plays that way on purpose. He could hit every note perfectly if he wanted to but it wouldn't be as interesting or capture the emotion the same way.
All of the ones making the comments ''rip off of Led Zeppelin's this and that, you obviously have no idea about Led Zeppelin's roots. Led Zeppelin covered many mannnnny old blues songs. They took samples/riffs from many many blues artists . Its been done since the beginning of time, nothing new. I don't think this is a rip off at all.
i'll add three things to this, the first of which is that JW didn't centre the raconteurs' music in this style of song, this is a lone style, used in this song only in all their works. secondly, this live performance is way more LZ than the studio version, which is actually a very distinctive and innovative offshoot of blues. thirdly bands plural work within genres, which by definition means that the musics are similar and must share the elements and similarities which define the genre. sometimes those similarities are broad and sometimes they are narrow, but when they are narrow, it actually requires closer inspection to see how they are different
"Well, I sort of don't trust anybody who doesn't like Led Zepellin" - Jack White. He's obviously influenced like many artists are by Led Zepellin but he's made his own mark, Jack's as GOD as they come
its completely different to play then since ive been loving you the chords are different..since I've been loving you has more chords and more structure to it.where as this is a beautiful simple blues in A minor..its a different feel playing wise!
Personal taste.. i know at least 10 blues songs that are 10 times better. Its dramatic. Listen to tin pan alley srv, zeppelin since ive been loving you. Dear mother johnny copeland. To many dirty dishes albert collins.. etc etc
Then you most certainly...no, you most definitely have to listen to...ALL of Rory Gallagher's songs. 😄 They are almost all full of emotion, all played from the heart and he had unique talent. If you've never heard of him before then lucky you, as you are about to discover one of the best. I'm unsure which song to recommend though so here's a few to get started: 👍 A Million Miles Away, I Fall Apart, Philby, Follow Me, Tatto'd Lady, Secret Agent, Shadow Play, Hands Up, Bad Penny, Sinner Boy, Crest Of A Wave, Persuasion, Moonchild, Shinkicker...I'm listening to him play now as i've only really heard his solo stuff after the band he was in - 'Taste' split up. Do you and your soul a favour and be sure to check this brilliant unique musician out. Defo. not to be slept on
Evan Bourgeois I think I posted that before I REALLY got into Zeppelin and the last live footage I'd seen was Celebration Day. I withdraw my statements and apologize for my ignorance. Plant in the 60s and 70s was incredible, I admit now that I have no authority to judge him in any other time period, as I haven't explored his work/performances outside of Zeppelin.
The fact of the matter is even if this is taken from "Since I've Been Loving You" this is not Led Zepplin, it's not Page, Plant, Jones, or Bonham so honestly it shouldn't matter even if they straight up played a Zepplin song because what makes The Raconteurs so great is their ability to sound heavily influenced by old blues but with a unique modern sound. So let it go everyone.
completely different key and chord progression than Since I've Been Loving You. Not that it matters, but this song has more in common musically with Stairway to Heaven than any other zeppelin song. Enjoy them all.

Jack had some really good songs on the last couple albums, but yeah it's not like the fire he had in The White Stripes or when he got to finally play in a full band as The Raconteurs. His new album is good though. The blue thing I think is just part of his brand. White Stripes was Red, white, black. The Raconteurs were copper. The Dead Weather was black and yellow. PUISSANT .
Great !!!! Jack; one of the best musicians ;)
nice bass
When I was surrounded by the world
You were the only one who came
And you were the only one astounded
Which kept me grounded
As the other girls thrashed my very name
Then I looked over just in time
To see her smiling back at me
And saying everything's okay
As long as you're inside my blue veins
Your blue veins
Yeah, and the feeling that you gave me
No matter what I do or where I go
It always will remain
And those who would enslave me
To get to me, must get past you and will have no luck
'Cause you'll protect me from all pain
It's true, you know what
The most beautiful
Yeah, the most beautiful thing
'Cause anything else can't compare
Must be the blood that's running through your blue veins
Your blue veins
Think it's gonna rain
Your blue veins
And I know you won't deceive me
Like the rest, and there's nothing you need to explain
You're always the first one to believe me
When I say to you, "Girl, I think it's gonna rain"
But I could be wrong
Yeah, but all of these things
All these things, they're all truly nice
But it ain't nothing, that ain't nothing compared to the love
That's running through your little blue veins
Your blue veins
