I recently purchased the Mamola RX-7 GP at the Birmingham NEC bike show, got a great deal as it was the last day of the show. It is a beautiful helmet and the fit and level of comfort are second to none.I also find the helmet to be exceptionally silent. Having said this, i would not be prepared to shell out the recommended retail price for one of these lids. This bloke is absolutely spot on with his evaluation of the visor system, I have a fear of breaking the mechanism every time I change visors, im pretty sure its the worst visor change system i have ever seen on any helmet
My Arai fell from the seat of my bike and yes the side pod is now broken ...... Bit of duct tape and I was good to go. I have never had problem changing visors though, usually don't even take the helmet off if I am changing from tinted to clear when out on a ride and the evening draws in. Maybe I have girlie small fingers!
@pufifa everyone is entitled to their opnion. The RX7 is not a bad helmet, but for the price it should be much better. If a deal can be had on one, it will make a good purchase. If Arai updated it's shield system, the helmet would offer much better value.

excellent review. you comments felt very impartial and has convinced me that the arai just isn't for me.

same thing happen here. Duct tape at the gas station and a sticker to match my lid fixed it
