Rodney I got Near & Far for Christmas and finally got to play it for the first time today, with my wife and a couple of friends! We just played the first map and we had so much fun! I came 3rd (and I HATE losing!) but still thoroughly enjoyed myself. This and Scythe are now both my all-time favourite games, although I think N&F would pip the post in just the fact that gameplay feels friendlier than Scythe and less of a "battle". One of my friends also agreed N&F is now her favourite game, too! I just want to thank you because it is through your videos that I discovered it, several months ago, and your tutorials and gameplay with Pep made me fall in love with it, and now I've played it it more than lived up to expectation!!! Amazing game.
My son and I have now done 3 out of the 10 maps for a Campaign. I really enjoy it! My biggest gripe is that, once the quests are exhausted, it then just becomes a game about racking up points. In Above & Below you could go questing as much as you wanted and could get 7 quests in a game sometimes, while here you get maybe 4 and then the story-telling part is done. Other than that, though, it's pretty brilliant.
I'm SO getting this game for Christmas! You and Pep have well & truly sold it to me through your awesome demo's. Just wanna say, I absolutely LOVE your channeĺ. You guys have such a great vibe about you, and I love the warm and bright presentation of your videos. I love the Dice Tower and a couple other channels, but you've fast become my favourite. You have a great way of explaining games in an accessible manner. I run out of superlatives to describe your channel! Just absolutely love it. Thanks for all the time and energy you put in to these videos. The effort really shows in the high quality! Thanks for bringing so much to the table, so to speak.
Nice touch to be able to add players midway through a Campaign Mode! Maintaining that continuity is getting harder and harder as we all get busier and busier. Thoughtful include.
Been a fair bit since I’ve played this (Oath, Sleeping Gods), but I recall a catch-up system based on average points or some such. I do remember we used it frequently and it did not appear to punish either new or established players.
This game looks like it would be so much fun! I really hope that they are going to publish it in german some time down the road, like they did with "above and below". Thanks for your reviews, awesome insights into the game. :)
Hello Rodney, thanks for the awesome series on this title. Before I jump in, do you know if you get much spoiled by hopping game modes ? For instance if you play a certain mode for a while, are you spoiled a bit, a lot or not at all if you then play again in a different mode ? (from a narrativve storytelling point of view) Thanks, in advance ;-)
@@WatchItPlayed I confirm that Character and Campaign modes are totally independent. I would also like to mention that adding the Amber Mines expansion right from the start adds quite a lot of great content and game options for a very affordable price :-)
About how many games does it take in Character Mode to play 3 players through to completion without adding the additional quest token as you suggested?
I'm going to guess arcade mode. Campaign and Character mode have too many story spoilers and only really matter for playing more then one game. Plus I know that you will love improvising a story when those arcade cards come up.
You can pick up your own Watch It Played Near and Far promo here: www.podpledge.com/project/382/The-Watch-It-Played-Promo-Store/shop
All the different game play modes is genius.
Honestly, playing arcade mode and having the players make up the stories for the quests when they draw them sounds like a lot of fun.
Let's players add their own creativity!

Ah, that’s so nice to hear - always great to find a new favourite game :)
I also got N&F for Christmas! We've played the first map twice now and I'm looking forward to delving into the game proper very soon!
Michael McKinley It's a great game isn't it! I can't wait to start a campaign!!

+Fishtank33 Thanks for all the lovely superlatives. You've always been very kind in your comments. Very appreciated!
You really get your moneys worth with this game
Great. After reading the rulebook, your video helps a lot in understanding it all.
So glad to know it was helpful - have fun playing!
Just played the First Adventure mode last night! SO excited to play all the other modes!! LOVE this game!!
So glad you’re enjoying the game :) Happy adventuring!
This gem is definitley going on my wishlist!
Glad you enjoyed what you saw!

How do they negate the loss of total points from each previous map?

@@aarondovauo1471 Awesome. I will check the rulebook. Im sure it is included. Video not intended to replicate everything in the rulebook.
This game looks amazing, and seems to be really fun to play! Thanks for the explanation. Can't wait for the game to be released in my country!
Glad you enjoyed!
I can't wait!!!! It's cool to see the way the rules changed from prototype to real deal too.
Glad you're excited by what you see :)

Glad you enjoyed the video, and I'm hoping you'll see it in your country as well!
I love it! Can't wait for the KS to fulfill!
Same, should only be a few more weeks!
Very interesting looking game.
Thanks for checking it out Solis!
@WatchitPlayed can you do a video on now or never?
Thanks for the interest! I talk a bit about that here: ua-cam.com/video/EdtDuvIUa6A/v-deo.html&t=342
Thanks for another great video.
Glad you liked it Chuck!
Does this game include a solo mode? Or is it an expansion separate from the main game? Thanks for all the content!
No solo mode as far as I know.

I really only played the ongoing campaign mode, so I’m not sure.

Hi Rodney. In Campaign mode, do World Cards follow with the character across maps? Or they are just for 1 game/map?
+Ben Naylor Travelling right now, but if I remember correctly, they do not carry over.
The Adventures of Bart, son of Bart and Cider Rodney continue.
About how many games does it take in Character Mode to play 3 players through to completion without adding the additional quest token as you suggested?
I haven't played that mode personally, so I'm not sure.
so when playing the campaign, each session, you draft and reset everything, you dont cary over artifacts or items right?
Correct!
do you keep artifacts, gems, food, money, and etc when goign from one map in the atlas to the next during campaign mode?
You do not. The only thing you really carry between games are your talents and keywords recorded on your character sheet.
Do the side quest goes through the other maps or just the keywords?
I lent my copy to a friend and can't easily look up the various game mode rules to check for you.
Which mode are you going to use for your gameplay videos?
We'll see!

Plot twist the barkeep is old man rondey, he thought being a barkeep lets him get more "medicine"(in the saloon, not character)
I've played the arcade mode twice so I could learn the rules. I am now wondering if I should start with the campaign mode or the character mode? Why?
Whichever appeals to you most. There is no right answer.
Near and fAaar
i think this is gonna be the one
Did you get a chance to try it?
