"Can this guy from Osaka really speak Japanese this well?"
Man, people have the same memes in Japan as they do in Norway about the second largest city, don't they?
But there are some dark bits of this skit that goes over peoples' heads. "Just because you dress and act like an ethnic group, doesn't mean you're that ethnic group!" is true, but consider that he's half Japanese, half Australian. He could be interpreted as saying that just because he dressed and acted like his Japanese classmates at school, doesn't meant that they accepted him. Hell, he's lived in Osaka for the first what, 14 years of his life? He may have had some issues fitting in, and now some weeb with no social skills that barely knows how to hold chopsticks thinks that they'll fit into Japanese society?
The video can be interpreted in many ways, and it's not a given that one way is correct or not.

      @SknCommonLisper 2 роки тому +1

True, though I took it in a different way, rather I think he's gotten corrected a lot about how he's "not Japanese", since he doesn't look Asian. You see it commonly enough with Japanese reaction channels questioning "how come he's so good with Japanese?", rarely crosses their mind that he was born and raised in Japan ( Making him, at least in the past, Japanese, no idea about his nationality now ).

That's not really because they are weebs, that mindset is repulsive because they are so resentful toward themselves and hate their lives and their selves, they radiate that inserucity. Covering their true undeniable self with fake image (not even convincing enough for themselves) makes interactions with them so uncomfortable. Like Frank said, it's like any other obsession with things you can build fake identity on. Not many humans know themselves and know how to be their authentic selves.

There's a fine line between appreciation and just straight up cultural appropriation. Ive even talked with a couple of Japanese natives in the past that appeared to be a little more traditional, and saw weaboos as foreigners that are appropriating Japanese culture. On a level on what Frank says is true, about non-Japanese having Japanese names and identity.
But you seem to be indifferent towards weaboos, I guess it's nothing to worry about to some but I know there are quite a few Japanese people that would see and get pissed off at the deep fanaticism that can be found in America lol.

4:58 Exactly lol I've always thought it's weird that the people obsessed with anime honestly believe Japanese people sound exactly like an emotional anime character. They're imitating a VOICE ACTOR. lol they're acting. Plus, that is also a bit of a stereotype in anime since there are characters that switch from dramatically talking, to having a more natural-sounding voice too. Just like how American characters can sound overly emotional and natural too

@@SHUGYSJAPANHOUSE thanks :3 Exactly! Especially since from what I've heard, people in Japan tend to be very relaxed and laid back. So it's very unlikely you would hear an emotional outburst like that. A perfect example of a very relaxed and natural sounding anime character in my opinion, is Joker/Ren Amamiya. His Japanese voice actor makes Ren sound very calm normally, but will switch to his "Joker" voice when Ren is being more dramatic.

The issue I have with ____boos is that they don't appreciate the culture they are obsessed with. They hype up stereotypes they make fun of and appropriate the culture and inadvertently make fun of it.
Since this video weeaboos have died out a bit. Weebs (foreign otaku)are very common now. Heck, you can say I am one. However, I keep that crap to myself and will only nerd out around other weebs. Weeaboos are like super egotistical weebs that think they are better than everyone else and more japanese than japanese people due to watching anime.
Now its not just weeaboos now.
Slavaboos are more common now. These people will squat and wear tracksuits and blast hardbass and sing the USSR national anthem and praise stalin and just worship the place my great grandparents risked their lives to escape from to canada. They dont care that millions were killed by the USSR.

I consider myself an amateur weapons historian, focusing on pre-gunpowder weapons, because I just love the history of them, as well as the artistic qualities. And I don’t just collect Japanese weapons. Two of my prized weapons are an Aztec macquahuitl, and a Maori Taiaha. Both are made of wood and stone, but equally beautiful in their simplicity. Also, you probably already knew this, by now, but Frank always did the ‘false translation’ thing on purpose, to mess with people. Especially people who claim to know Japanese but don’t.

Imo opinion the definition of weeb changed drastically that even myself (who is an otaku) is called a weeb and there are ppl who call themselves weebs even tho hey have pretty normal life and normal relstionships
Even i call myself a weeb but there are still those toxic ones who makes even us normal weebs be ashamed of being associated with them
I love the culture and the country and its history but what i like the most is the cars and the street/pro racing culture and also food

The weeaboos scare me. I almost turned into one myself at one point, but I guess you can say I had a wake up call. But the thing with weeaboos having poor hygiene is real. Their body odor is on a whole other level.

Teach me Japanese please sir. (I am learning how to draw manga, because I want to draw manga when I am grown up.) I do not consider myself an expert in the language, I only know bits and pieces and phrases from jojo's (hai, Moshi moshi doppio desu) etc. my point is, I would like to learn so that if I am forced into interaction while I am living in Japan when I'm an adult, I will be able to speak properly and not make a fool of myself.

Hey man, don't ever believe anyone who tells you that you don't have what it takes to chase your dreams.
If you want it enough and work hard enough at it, you can accomplish anything. Anybody who tells you otherwise is most likely stuck in that mindset because they failed to do what was needed to live the life they wanted and they lost faith that it's possible, don't be like them.
