As someone descended from europeans. Don't feel to bad about the "opression" of chistians. Aberahamic religions preach peace and tolerance until they have the demographics, "The numbers", to force their culture onto the native populace. Muslims, Christians and Jews have done these things to each other for at least a thousand years.

Really interesting to hear you compare Tokugawa's Christian purge to the witch hunts and religious violence happening almost at the same time. That's probably a common comparison in Japan but never would've occurred to me.

So I can say Gundam was really popular in the 90s and 00s but I don't think its as popular now. Trigun is a bit of a niche anime now, but I remember reading it in school. Cowboy Bebop is considered one of the best openings ever in the US so most anime fans and will have watched it or at least recognize the opening. I personally liked Gundam Wing but I definitely got into way after Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, and a bunch of other toonami shows. I believe Gundam Seed was the main Gundam airing when I first got into anime at the time.

Interestingly for people of a very specific age group, like 29-34 now Gundam Wing was VERY popular when it came out but the rest of the Gundam series isn't really. Partly because they only started releasing A LOT of amime in the English speaking world in the late 90s/early 00s and the mainline Universal Century Gundam series was pretty old by then and kids found the 70s artstyle outdated and there was so much of it. Wing in particular got huge though because it was a completely separate story so you didn't really need to know about the Gundam lore to get into it. Of course it didn't hurt that it was on American TV right before or after Dragon Ball Z, don't remember which lol.

Yeah. Pokémon is a franchise that gave Nintendo a second chance to make some money from the general public once again because Sony is now the new king of the gaming industry with the PlayStation & its games like Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal & more. When the creator of Pokemon Satoshi Tajiri & his company called Game Freak came to Nintendo first showing off Pocket Monsters, later as internationally Pokémon, Creatures & Game Freak really helped Nintendo conquered the entire earth once again as Sony did with the PlayStation with having Pokémon having its games, trading cards, mangas sold million copies worldwide and its first film that gross more than $172.7 million.

Nice thing about the subway system in Tokyo, at least when I visited there in 2007, is that Tokyo in general is very pedestrian-friendly so if you know the name of the basic neighborhood you’re trying to get to, you can get reasonably close and then just walk the rest of the way. It’s also nice that there’s often more than one line you can use to get there, so if you miss one train there’s another going the same way just a few minutes later. The biggest issue I had there was not being able to read enough kanji to understand the food that was available. Part of that is me just being Autistic (I wasn’t diagnosed yet in 2006 so everyone just thought I was an obnoxious picky eater), but I get very anxious when I don’t know exactly what’s in something and can’t easily figure out if I’ll be able to handle the taste or texture. I ended up relying heavily on McDonalds because it was the only thing I could easily recognize. Really wish I could go back and get a second chance, but I would still be worried about unpredictable taste, or texture…or unexpected milk because I’m lactose-intolerant and the idea of having a “dairy surprise” while in a crowded area with no toilet in easy reach is a bit terrifying. Unfortunately…by the time I can afford to go back, I’ll probably have a service dog by then, and the laws are so different that I just might not be able to safely travel there at all because I wouldn’t be able to bring my service dog (cardiac alert, PTSD-management, etc).

Manila the Philippines' capital became the second city next to Poland as the worst city devastated by a world war. All throughout the Imperial Japan occupation, they killed millions of people in Eastern Asia. Raped hundreds of thousands of women- killed bayonets, they were barbaric. Used people in Manchuria China as live experiments for their biomedical warfare... experimenting villages with diseases to see how the people would respond, and dissecting them even if they were still alive. The atomic bomb, horrible it may seemed for everyone but to the people who was suffering under Japanese Imperial rule at that time and were treated like animals felt it was a valid collateral response to justice for the millions of people killed, raped, experimented, massacred for years and years of savagery in eastern Asia. I hoped that newer generations of Japanese are taught about the Imperial Army who brought the "Asian Holocaust." I don't blamed present Japan but what I cannot stand is simply hearing new generations of Japanese, baffled that Japan did all these things. When I looked at video reactions it is sad that they have no idea about what really happened during the Japanese occupations in the countries they conquered and the atrocities they commited is mind boggling coming from a first world country. Quote: "I grew up just outside of Boston and many of my neighbors were Jewish, including several Holocaust survivors and Chinese whose family came to this country as refugees after the war. These two groups mingled with others and this question came up and was a very interesting, and friendly, discussion. This was a subject I was used to hearing but it was not the way you might expect. The general opinion, even among many of the Jewish people I knew was that the Japanese were worse. Far worse. The main reason is that many of their crimes remain unknown in the west when you compare them to the German war crimes. For example if you were to bring up the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising it’s likely been heard of by people. If you bring up the Rape of Nanking or the Manila Massacre it’s’ a given that most people haven’t heard about it. But what truly puts it over the top for those who lost family to the Japanese in WW2 is that these people believe that Japan is portrayed as a victim of a war crime as a result of the dropping of the atomic bombs." Hence, many Koreans and Chinese..still feels that way. There was this interview in Asian boss, so upsetting to see that most Japanese didn't have a clue that their country was actually part of the so called Axis group is so upsetting and disappointing 21st century interview. The difference with Germany and Japan is that, Germany did not forget their dark history that shaped their country and teaches their younger generations so that it will never happen again, while Japan didn't teach it l, as if it never happened at all and so new generations cannot accept it and sometimes are in denial when they are informed about it. To give you an overview Please click the links below for reference... What unspeakable things happened in Unit 731? Plague fleas, infected clothing, and infected supplies encased in bombs were dropped on various targets. The resulting cholera, anthrax, and plague were estimated to have killed at least 400,000 Chinese civilians. Tularemia was also tested on Chinese civilians. What did Unit 731 do to children? Chinese children were subjected to plaque-prevention experiments by Unit 731. Other experiments involved typhus, anthrax, cholera, TB, encephalitis, and more. What does Japan say about comfort women? In 1993, Japan issued the watershed Kono Statement, which admitted the Japanese military's involvement in the comfort stations and in recruiting women “against their own will,” and said that “they lived in misery at comfort stations under a coercive atmosphere.” Japan extended “sincere apologies and remorse,” www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=www.history.com/news/comfort-women-japan-military-brothels-korea&ved=2ahUKEwiVg5yO1LeCAxXy0AIHHd6NBdcQFnoECCcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3H0euXiQtj_wKxdYIsf0qy www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=www.asianstudies.org/publications/eaa/archives/teaching-about-the-comfort-women-during-world-war-ii-and-the-use-of-personal-stories-of-the-victims/&ved=2ahUKEwiVg5yO1LeCAxXy0AIHHd6NBdcQFnoECCYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2x_8q8t-YsPpu-pREq2uEb Comfort women” refers to the system of sexual slavery created and controlled by the Imperial Japanese government between 1932 and 1945.
