Thanks for another great show. I just finished my very first ESDR at Springbank last week. Oh wow! What an experience I had, took your advice brought sample bottles with me and a note book. I was able to purchase one of the last Longrow 18 bottles in the shop and a Longrow 9 year old cage bottle plus got to try the new Longrow 100! I felt very lucky to sample the new expression. Everything about the Springbank experience was top notch! I now look forward to enjoying my own Longrow bottles back home in Australia! Cheers!
Great to see you back. Another cracking show. Love the banter. Very little experience with Longrow but after watching this I'm off to the auctions toes what I can find!!
Longrow is my favorite whisky. I've had several bottles of the NAS as it is the only one available in my region. I had to travel to Campbeltown to try some at the source both in the Washback and the handfill. It was the 1st day of our trip and looking back I wish I'd "filled my boots"! I brought back a cage bottle of Longrow 9yr. Fresh Sherry and the handfill. Next time (if there is a next time) I'll fill my suitcase. Saving the 9yr. for a special occasion but you all are making me want to uncork it and drink along. Love your videos boys.
I try to have the NV on the shelf at all times, it's a great dram. But you guys take your Longrow VERY seriously 😁....what an epic lineup! Looking forward to the next episode already!
Longrow is impossible to get in BC, Canada. However when I was in the UK the Longrow Red Pinot Noir Cask Matured 7 yr old was one of the 3 bottles I was allowed to bring back (with the missus). It's spectacular!
More bad news: they're also pausing on Longrow 18 (in addition to the Red, and the 21). I'm quite gutted about the Longrow Red dissapearing, it is my favorite edition of ANY distillery. The first NAS being finished in red wine sounds good to me, but I wasn't a huge fan of that Longrow 7 in comparison to the other Longrow reds. They can be fantastic young, but the fact they're moving to NAS after putting a 7 on the latest bottle means they'll be forced into putting some really young liquid into those bottles.
Brilliant episode guys the only longrows I’ve had are the nas and the 21 I am drinking the nas tonight and I’m really enjoying it As for the 21 I had it at a Springbank tasting and was not impressed enjoyed the younger whiskeys I am turning 60 tomorrow and am opening a bottle of G&M 1995 Highland Park 27 years Cheers!
Another superb episode guys. Really envious of your tasting line-up. Just one Longrow in my collection - 12 year old red pinot noir limited to 9000 bottles @ 52.9%.
Some brilliant tasting notes and descriptions, you guys doing what you do best tasting and talking shite. I bought the port Longrow at the festival gutted i only bought one bottle as i opened it and shared it around during the festival safe to say it got finished very quickly .
Great stuff guys! Amazing episode as always. Unfortunately we don't get many of the Longrow Reds in Aus, however I've had the pleasure to try a few at select bars, and they're something else. Beautiful stuff.
Interesting discussion on the LR 16 Sauternes. There was a Cadenheads 14 yr Sauternes released in 2022 and an OB LR 12 Sauternes released in 2020 - I’m curious to know whether these were all originally part of the same parcel. At the very least it would be fun to try all three side by side! Cheers…
Ian. The 43.8% was a single cask released for the UK. The vatting of the annual release you refer to that dropped below the 46% benchmark was the Hazelburn. Great episode ❤
Hi guys Absolutely love the long form videos! So fun to listen to on the commute home. Jake, not sure if you have noticed the way you say 'bottle' is somewhere between 'bottle' and 'battle'. I guess it's your Irish heritage. Very entertaining. One thing I wished from this video is that you guys would habitually name what you're opening when you're opening and nosing / drinking it. As for much of this video what you were drinking sounded really great but I didn't know which expression it was you were drinking for much of the vid. Just a quality of life tip there which will help you engage with your audience who are listening only, and not watching. Lastly a couple questions: The springbank society, what are it's benefits for you guys who got in before it closed? Is there anything equivalent people might be able to join now? And finally if you had a £70 upper limit to spend on Longrow, which expression would be your no1 buy and where would you buy it from? Thanks so much Love the videos Keep em coming ✌🏼 Tom
The ability to buy society only bottles and enter ballots is obviously the major draw. You also get a special email newsletter, polo shirt, notebook, a mini and a free tour of the distillery. And a theoretical 10% off core bottles at the shop
What a lineup! Had a chance to taste the latest Longrow Red…IMO way overpriced for what it is…$170 when it hit shelves in my area of the US. Great convo gents as always!!
Love your content and your vibe, guys. Would be very excited about a Compass Box episode. By the way, how come you don't have an intro/outro? It would suit your channel for sure. Cheers to all of you!
Btw the Longrow "Red" 10yo Festival 22 is made up of 4 casks. 2 x 10yo Pinot Noir casks (with a 3yo finish) & 2 x 13yo Malbec casks (also with a 3yo finish)
Honestly I’ve struggled with Longrow - it’s always felt overly metallic to me to the point that I couldn’t enjoy it. Tried a 16yr ruby port cask recently which was better, but the metallic was still quite present. I’ve got an 18yr and a Longrow Red to get into so hopefully something clicks but, as things stand, it’s looking increasingly likely that it’ll be one I tend to avoid. This episode has inspired me to crack those other ones open though so fingers crossed. Slainte
Lovely lineup - got quite a few of those 😀😋😋. Not a big fan of the LR Handfill though... for me it's just too immature. I've also got a 7yo Cage bottle... but could be a different cask... also sherry :-). What's your cask number if I may ask? 😁
Sending some love from Melbourne, Australia guys, another great Episode as always. I think you guys would be mortified to find out that there's an online retailer here trying to sell the Longrow 21 for 922 GBP 😂 Thoughts on that ?

Longrow 18 for me is the Best 🔥🔥🔥
Cheers guys🥃, great Video as always 👌

Back once again, I've missed you boys. What a line up!
Whisky heaven says it all boys!! Cheers once again..
So glad you guys did a Longrow lineup. Love all the Longrows (especially the Longrow Red 15 Year Pinot Noir)!
Awesome episode, thank you!
Great episode gents, gone get me some longrow red. already looking at the actions.
Great to see you having so much fun.
Longrow is impossible to get in BC, Canada. However when I was in the UK the Longrow Red Pinot Noir Cask Matured 7 yr old was one of the 3 bottles I was allowed to bring back (with the missus). It's spectacular!
Sad times for Canada 😢
Love Longrow! The 15Yo Longrow Red Pinot Noir is probably my favourite.
More bad news: they're also pausing on Longrow 18 (in addition to the Red, and the 21).

Posh Scotch is correct about 2019 being the 1st Longrow 21 release and that Longrow Red has been discontinued.

That would make sense if they were! Great knowledge 👌

Great episode ❤
I stand corrected! I must have tried the single cask then 😅
@ picked up a couple but again I haven’t gotten around to opening one. Also nabbed a Sherry cask for the German market.

@@IanBear1000 the 10% discount is a thing. 👌including certain merchandise in the shop ! Actually saved 10% on a SB12 CS recently ‼️
Whoop Whoop 🙌

i have 2 caged bottles of longrow in my collection
1cs 6 yo and a cs16 yo
Well done lads😉.🥃
Great show guys
At the 4:45 mark, please tell me that was a dog drinking from a bowl
I had the same thought. 😄
Apparently, back in the day, Springbank didn't make note of the Rum casks they had & where they came from. Things might have changed now.
I love everything Longrow but could you guys post a list in order you tasted?

Welcome back! I’ll have to give Longrow a try. Is Glencairn OK sharing a spot with your new sponsor Um Bongo?

"What would justify $250"?
"If it was something else"
LMAOOO
...and about topics for the next U&U podcast: Mortlach or Caol Ila would be very interesting :-)
Great episode!
If you allow me, why did you guys move from your previous studio? The sound is not that good on this new spot.
This was an Airbnb whilst we filmed at Cotswolds
I have a longrow red 11 tawny port and hearing the line is discontinued I’m now weary of opening it… has anyone tried it yet
It’s awful mate, send it to me for disposal 😊
Lovely lineup - got quite a few of those 😀😋😋.
Not a big fan of the LR Handfill though... for me it's just too immature. I've also got a 7yo Cage bottle... but could be a different cask... also sherry :-). What's your cask number if I may ask? 😁
Thank you, gentleman, for a thoroughly entertaining glugfest

"It's like Sean Bean unloading in your face" With that tasting note, it's no wonder there aren't more women in whisky! 😂
We love everyone involved in whisky and aim to be inclusive to all! There was such a musket vibe with that dram - and the Sharpe series comes to mind!
👍

I agree the sultern is too strong for the long row It does not work
