Really enjoy listening your podcast, thank you for your work! If I may suggest something, to add timestamps where you start talking about particular dram, can be very helpful for returning listeners, as I do like to return and hear some parts again, may be just easier. Cheers!
Really enjoyed this episode 👍👍 Been there couples times and participated in the Barley to Bottle experience. Got myself some hazelburn cage bottles and hand filled from the shop. I have to admit that the hand filled longrow at the shop was amazing, really beyond my expectation and better than the longrow red 11 in my opinion 😉
Jake, I love the statement "whisky is not for the everyman." I would add that every man(human) can aspire to good whisky and be better for it. Good whisky makes us better.
that's exactly what I meant! a fair few drams deep so I do chat a bit of shite in this episode, but that was the point I was trying to make presented in a much more elegant manner. cheers Bill
@@billmonteith1161 Stevie jokes that it's only a matter of time until I'm cancelled with the way I go on. it's all good craic though - we don't take ourselves too seriously (as you can see)
We’re going to Campbletown in July and we can’t wait! Booked in for Glen Scotia (unfortunately not doing the managers tour), Kilkerran, Longrow, Candenheads and Springbank (bottle to barley). This podcast has made me even more excited!
Another great round-about conversation! I'm kicking myself these days for passing up the Longrow Reds that were not too uncommon on the shelves here a few years ago. Can find pretty much nothing from any of the Springbank or Kilkerran lines lately. The standard Glen Scotia bottlings are frequently available, but I have to wonder how long that will last. As Scotch whisky fans, we're living in interesting times!
interesting times indeed! just have to grab a hold of what we can and share it with the right people.definitely recommend picking up a few Scotia though! thanks for tuning in again Paul - this one got away from us at points for sure, but we had the craic
Maybe the flippers luck is running out, I got a Kilkerran 16 & Kilkerran 8 bourbon cask, I paid no more than RRP, so the mugs that sold it at the auction, must have lost money 😂 great podcast, keep it up! I’m planning a drive up to Campbeltown soon, this podcast has made me more determined!
Agreed with Ian on New make to finished expressions. Id say aberlour was a fun tasting to see the trajectory of product. In terms of bottle price though, always tough with the bottle hype price
It’s been like that for a few years imo, but they are working very hard to turn things around imo. Personally, I’d prefer them to avoid finishes and keep it clean
I have the Longrow 11 Tawny Port. Omg love love love that bottle. I have the Longrow 18 and the Longrow 15 Pinot Noir. Have 10 products from springbank. Best whiskies in my mind.
biggest difference with kk and Sb new make is the copper contact/interaction - different pot shapes and sizes. the line arm set up should create a lighter kk spirit, and then kk is doubled distilled only, with SB effectively being a combination of double and triple distillation
I'm fairly certain that all 'unpeated' Glen Scotia contains 5% of peated whisky. So a small amount which is imperceptible although you'd probably notice if it wasn't there.
These flippers are the lowest of the low. Open the bottle and enjoy your whisky. I was blessed to receive two Springbank cage bottles in the same week. These bottles will be opened and drank by the person who purchased them!! It’s disgusting that people flip these bottles.

great suggestion Ivan - I'll talk to Stevie and we'll sort that. appreciate the input!
Great episode! I’m heading over in March, so this got me very excited and gave me some ideas of other things to do while there. Cheers, guys!

Wonderful stuff guys, the 2 hrs flew in.
glad you managed to stick with us - it was getting away from us at times there, but such a great time recounting our trip and such good whiskies
The main difference between Springbank and Kilkerran is that Springbank is distilled 2.7 times as opposed to twice.
Great episode as always lads. I need to try more Campbeltown whisky! The Campbeltown Loch is a great shout, will be looking to get that sometime soon!
Check out the new Glen Scotia White Port version

agreed, it's so personal when it comes to pricing as everyone has different circumstances

Hosts were great
whisky felt tired
interesting that we're not the only ones. pity..
Didn’t do the official tour , but big Andrew is a total gent

Can I buy a bottle or a sample of the Springbank 12 Burgundy?
You Probably stopped at west tarbert.

The lock is Blended so if we compare to jw blue label it 6 times cheaper add 10 times better
