Removing the dislike button “to protect small creators” is the biggest joke I’ve ever heard

To be honest, UA-cam failed on this one. I watch tutorials on UA-cam, and I check whether the content is good by likes versus dislikes. UA-cam return back the dislike button. Stop controlling people.
Same here, I watch tutorials all the time and the dislike bar was the fastest way to filter bad videos. Now I have to waste time watching the video to know if it's useful.
@@mato_kun2602 Well, to be fair you can usually tell right away. And then I'm going to dislike it anyway.
This is exactly my problem. How on earth am I supposed to know if things are factually correct or tutorials are helpful or not? This dev team is braindead

Don't worry, we might not be able to dislike, BUT we can still overload the comments with negative reviews 🙂 If you shut off comments and remove the dislike button then the creator really shouldn't be on UA-cam 🤷♀️
The biggest kick in their logic is that they're claiming it's to protect small UA-camrs from harsh criticism and hate mobs discouraging them. But the creator can still see the dislikes anyway, so that's just a straight up lie.
it s to protect brands
I dont think thats true

Imagine not being able to see the star rating of a business on Google Maps before visiting or the star rating of a product on Amazon before buying. Being able to see the ratio of likes to dislikes on a video on UA-cam was similar to seeing how many “stars” it had.
@Derone Cerrone thanks alot of extremely bad videos I NEVER wanted to watch appeared in my recommended. I wonder why.
It's just tough man.
@Derone Cerrone lol
I strongly agree, removing the dislike is a stupid move on UA-cam's part. It's a lot harder now to differentiate good and bad videos when searching for specific topics.

This is so clearly to protect brands and politicians that it hurts.
Can't believe it was accepted by users so quickly. After this change I found myself disliking most of the videos coming from the authors I'm not subscribed to.
The like/dislike ratio is such a great tool for viewers to know, at a glance, if a video is worth watching or not. Creators already had the option to hide the likes/dislikes on their videos. This change just feels pointless and inconveniences everyone.
This is the correct answer
UA-cam doesn’t care about its viewers though. They removed dislikes to increase watch time on videos that would normally get less watch time because it has many dislikes. UA-cam can suck on my nuts.

The fact they're calling it a dislike attack is hilarious.
You are not allowed to dissent!
You mean on their rewind videos right😭
It’s mostly because leftist, or at least videos with an establishment narrative (I.E. like the average video on places like CNN about covid vaccines), get ratio’d like fucking crazy, and for good reason.
@@Lil.Grandpa leftist??? Like politics??? Bro??????
The mainstream media has been getting a lot of dislikes lately for their coverage on coronavirus. It's not even 10 minutes in and the facebook / telegram army (and their bots?) already left 500 dislikes. Maybe they were the driving force behind this, otherwise I don't understand.
People forget the “downvote” on comments used to be visible to the public.
UA-cam banks on us forgetting the dislike disablement for videos just like we did for comments.
They have a monopoly and know alternatives will pop up but the majority will still continue to use UA-cam.

Guess we were the real terrorists after all
I think tbf they are referring to targetted organized dislike bombs. Like when you gather users in communities to all go and bomb the video. This is most definitely a tactic used by some trolls to just ruin any algorithmic success of smaller channels.
I agree that criticism should be protected and I'm not sure this is a solution to the problem at hand, but that kind of organization does in some ways unfairly impact people without allowing for true public critique of a video. Happens to creators of all political bends if they build a large enough hater base lol
This is entirely so that brands and governments don’t get downvoted into oblivion.

I think this is one of the worst things UA-cam has ever done. Like Pewds, when I click on a video, I can immediately tell if it’s clickbait by the dislike counter. Even though the intention was to help small content creators, I believe this harms everyone except big content creators. Example: I'm a user browsing for content, I see PEW every one knows him and likes his content, I see another unknown content creator, not many views not many likes not many subs, I am obviously going to watch PEW and not the the unknown person. Criticism is what allows people to grow. If a kid falls on a bicycle he knows how to ride, you don't give him a tricycle, you motivate or help him/her to get up and try again. it's very disappointing how sensitive the new generation is, i.e: no dislike, in cod kills are now eliminations (its ok don't feel bad that someone stole your kill or that you suck, we'll give it to the both of you), in some games there are no scoreboards at all.. cringing at the thought of what's next

Companies lying to their consumers is perfectly normal.

Just a side note: Years ago I almost died from watching a poorly informed UA-cam video. It was a knot tying video and the knot was to be used on harnesses when climbing trees. The knot was wrong and I nearly died from knot slippage. Anyhow, It was in the beginning of UA-cam and I never looked at the comment section or like/dislike ratios until after that video. It's a important metric for both the viewers and creators imo. Creators can still see it albeit with a extra step doesn't help at all. People's time is limited, so let them decide what they want to view as they have done through looking at the statistics, instead of trying to spoonfed them through the algorithm. Basically don't fix what's not broken.
the problem is that if there are a lot of dislikes on videos made by youtube itself (like youtube rewind or youtube originals) it will look bad in the eyes of advertisers, actually it has nothing to do with protecting creators, it seems

Well said sir.
UA-cam is removed dislike and UA-camrs are getting small likes and avenges likes and people are little mad and haters will be super mad
Your video editor deserves a raise !
Flaws in UA-cam's logic:
◉ Viewers are vulnerable to Scams, Clickbait, and Misinformation
◉ Viewers cannot voice their opinions, except for the comments(which bad creators can remove)
◉ Creators can suffer, due to viewers not knowing how many dislikes are on the video
◉ Creators that are being "hated" on can just remove the dislike button, or disable comments
◉ Creators can still see how many dislikes there are, which nullifies the entire point of removing dislikes
◉ Creators that are receiving many dislikes, or bad comments, often create offensive or bad quality videos(for good reasons)
◉ Dislikes are removed, just because some imaginary people can't handle it(UA-cam hasn't given many or any examples or proved that it happens often enough)
◉ UA-cam makes 20 billion dollars every year, yet can't afford to create better technology for the system(Bots that can detect many dislikes in a short period of time. Then, the bots can temporarily remove the dislike button)
◉ UA-cam, at the time of this comment, still hasn't changed the system even with all this feedback
◉ Feedback is part of life, and without it, it can make us crybabies who can't handle constructive criticism
I think a possible unintended consequence will be an increase in negative comments, which can be much more psychologically damaging than a simple *thumbs down*

Estoy triste por que subo buen contenido y nadie me apolla😔😪
dislike count is the most useful thing for quickly figuring out if a tutorial is good
Exactly, the whole point of it is to use our voices in majority to tell if a video is good or bad. They are trying to sweep this under the rug
Exactly. Is this tutorial gonna help me? Well, now I have no fucken idea. This change is idiotic at best.
anyone notice that the dislikes are back or is my youtube just glitched
@@vxrok4484 Its glitched. The dislikes are gone until they fire the leftists at youtube.
Exactly.
UA-cam: *Removes dislike button.*
Scammers, celebrities and cooperates: *I see this as an absolute win.*
I really wish Felix would make his own version of UA-cam with zero ads likes and dislikes and pull other creators towards it we need someone looking out for the people's voice
Id be happy with 1 ad. 2 ads multiple times in one video is just flat out annoying. That would be cool though
UA-cam: **Removes Dislike button on videos**
Scammers: *“Looks like we’re back in business boys.”*
Comments: we’re still here
Scammers: Darn it
@@TheTruth-13 I hate you because you told the truth.
But comments can get deleted so they still win .-.
@@TheTruth-13 comments can be deleted or disabled lol

Wowee, youtube rewind will be 100% positive ratings now.
This is disgusting we need to have a choice to like something and to not like something !
Showing dislikes is important. It shows to the user how other viewers thought of the video, so they'd have an idea of what the video is like before wasting their time.
@Jose Garcia I dont pretty much care about it tbh. I just enjoy his content
@Jose Garcia damn youcommented about this two times, not a lot but still weird that it happened twice. why don't you just shut up and don't watch his videos lol just an advice, jose.
Also helps protect people from scammers.
@@ISMDOBLE yes!! this
@Jose Garcia Jose comment *Felix video title UA-cam remover the dislike button is clickbait as if it has already happened I mean how desperate is he for views now a days ???* Is pathetic as if we're actually going to listen I mean how desperate is he for attention now a days ???
The dislike bar has most recently been beneficial when watching bogus news stories. It allowed us to know what sort of broadcasters were focusing on fake news.
exactly
For real
Thats why youtube wants to remove it lol
CNN and MSNBC be getting way to many dislikes.
You decide what news is reliable based off the crowd sourced dislikes of people on UA-cam? Lmao
UA-cam feelings hurt from that rewind they worked hard on
Now how am i gonna tell if a video is stupid and useless just from the start by the dislikes without them
got my dislike button removed today and this breaks yt for me, there is no way to know if a video is good or a scam... from science to tech to basically every new channel I discover. Unusable, I don't want to learn something that is completely fake.
Exactly! What a disgrace. UA-cam has gone crazy stupid
same, it just happened to me. We need something new to replace youtube, please someone ...
Now the videos with titles that a celebrity died (clickbaits) will get more views due to this shit which youtube did
Exactly as planned

Rumble is looking more and more like a better platform.
Honestly, “Dislikes can hurt creators’ mental health” is the worst argument I've seen in my entire life. It makes absolutely NO sense and just reflects the poor ability of youtube to understand why their platform even works
UA-cam seems to be truly getting worse day by day...
True, the mental health argument is retarded. If lots of people dislike a video, that means the video sucks. If the creator is butthurt about it then they should man tf up and get stronger mentally and emotionally smh
@@SkiftyKitty or just leave youtube lmao
@@SkiftyKitty My reasoning for why the mental health argument is pointless is because creators can still see dislike counts in UA-cam Studio. If they get a lot of dislikes they'll still know that they did. It has nothing to do with mental health.
Come on man. Youve obviously never gotten over 100k dislikes on your documentary, how would you know the pain?
I like how in the first month they said it was a test, now it’s official ;-(
UA-cam should let creators choose weather or not to enable the dislike button on their own videos. I don't even understand why they removed it in the first place but the creators should have a choice 🤷♀️
We seriously need another platform, UA-cam really knows they can do whatever they want and nothing will change the monopoly.
Sadly, it would take a tech giant like Amazon to even have a chance to compete with UA-cam's infrastructure.
Twitch is doing well rn, however they can’t really compete when it comes to the vast catalogue of content on demand
The closest thing I've seen to UA-cam is Rumble, but it's so unpopular I've never heard about it until a few hours ago when i purposely searched for UA-cam alternatives (which is a shame because it looks cute and actually gives money to people doing good on it)
@@rektifyr... google owns UA-cam so it’s impossible for Amazon
There are a lot of platforms out there. Twitch, tiktok, facebook and Instagram.
UA-cam is just working because of the individual creators who put in effort and creativity for the watchers
