Another great installment! Dio and Rainbow were huge for me, and I'm glad you're tackling his legacy. Didn't know about the Baal stuff, but it sounds very similar to Dave Grohl's testimony on what happened while recording Medicine at Midnight. And he's on record performing seances to the John Bonham sigil.
As a side note, it's awfully interesting to me that atheists and so-called "skeptics" spend an awful lot of energy being skeptical about Christianity and almost no energy being skeptical about the occult. Funny how that works.

Thanks a lot! Dave Grohl is certainly an interesting figure when it comes to this stuff. Might need to do an episode on him some day. I didn't know about the seance stuff but I've heard quite a few eyebrow raising tidbits about him. Not to mention the Studio 666 movie and the strange death of Taylor Hawkins. Thanks for the comment!

@@ummmummm563 Don't take what I say as an insult, because I was once where you are now. You have no problem looking into the dark side of the paranormal, but too fearful to take God at his word-Hebrews 11:6 James 1:5-6? I at one time had my doubts but God revealed himself to me in a way that was undeniable. There are no excuses. You can't find God by religion-(man's attempt of trying to please God by keeping a list of religious rules that they can't keep). I realized as a kid that trying to keep the ten commandments was not possible, thus my doubts. What I didn't know and apparently most professing Christians don't know is why God put the ten commandments in place to begin with. The reason being, God was telling us that it is impossible to do God by man "trying" in his own ability to do God (Old testament religion). We need what Christ died on the cross for(New Testament) God gave something that is real-The Holy Spirit-Acts 2:38-39. Romans 10:17-Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. and 1 Corinthians 1:21. I don't get angry with atheists, because I know why they think the way they do-I was there. God has inherently put into mankind the knowledge that there is something more beyond this life. As far back in history as you can go,there have always been people that sought out worship of a"God" in some form or fashion. That's the reason you're inquisitive about the paranormal. The dark side is real, but don't go there because you can open doors that are meant to be destructive.

Was just going back through Charles Upton's System of Antichrist and realized he actually makes a distinction between the Astral Plane (or the imaginal plane) and the Etheric Plane. The imaginal plane, in his view is the psychic realm, whereas the etheric plane is what he calls "the soul of matter" or "the hidden face of nature" where nature spirits and elementals dwell. In this video I accidentally mixed the two. Doesn't change the content all that much but I wanted to make that correction.

I’m an atheist myself, but I am fascinated by the occult, and have a very open mind generally. I appreciate that these essays are created “from an Orthodox Christian perspective,” as you say in each intro. It’s a perspective I don’t often see represented in discussions of these subjects. I’m interested in hearing all the different points of view, and as you illustrate here, they do often seem to line up outside of the philosophy of spiritualism itself.

As someone who was raised into the Occult, I can tell you that true Occult practitioners do not touch the planchette. They sit by the board and the spirit (demon) moves the planchette. It appears to move on its own because you cannot see the spirit moving it.
I can most assuredly attest that those who dabble in the Occult are being snared and decieved into a very dark and evil world. At first, it is fascinating and exiting. But later on, there is a very high price to pay.

Two factors are at play when using an Ouija board: A strong subconscious need for an answer to a question and a phenomenon known as the ideomotor effect. That's it. Maybe Blackmore and Dio had some drugs going on to boot, but I can only imagine it was marijuana. Dio was a pharmacist by education and head a healthy respect for drugs and never went any deeper than pot and alcohol.

@@themetalmystic333 Well I've had the following OUIJA-based discussion with a Catholic content creator and I believe I've found an issue on which Catholics and Eastern Orthodoxy might agree. Look at me over here, a materialist bridging the Great Schism...there's hope for us all!
One way an OUIJA works, secondary to the ideomotor effect, is that the participants are able to anticipate the next letter, increasingly possible the more letters are already in place. Think of it as solving a Wheel Of Fortune phrase without the trip to Hawaii...
An experiment was done by a secular university in which 3 monolingual persons, each speaking a mutually exclusive language, attempted to use an OUIJA. No intelligible results were achieved.
Then I asked the Catholic to consider Exorcisms in which the subject suddenly speaks in Latin to the Padre'. The subject has never been exposed to the Latin language; they are neither an attorney at law nor a theologian.
Why is the supernatural unable to bridge the language barrier in the OUIJA scenario if it is able to do so in the exorcism scenario?

At best it's an artistic emotional outlet, at worst it's direct participation in demonic energies.
Ideally, it is probably best to stay away from it and concentrate on more spiritually uplifting things but that's not to say we need to be puritanically rigid about it either. That's where I'm at with it right now at least. I'm certainly no kind of authority or spiritual guide. For an Orthodox Christian it would be best to consult their spiritual father.

I didn't know about supernatural stuff, didn't seek it, IT came to me, even before I was old enough to go to school. First times I saw depictions of the devil, I already knew who he was, seen him and fought him in my nightmares numerous times. Of course these things are fascinating, everything science or our senses can't explain is. As a teen, I've conducted spiritism sceances, alone and with friends. It's so easy, people aren't aware. Naturally, it's almost ALWAYS the creeps who respond, and show up. I've seen them do things as astonishing as some stunts you see in horror movies, such as The Exorcist. One time, one of my friend asked to be possessed ( just for the thrill of it ), and a mean spirit immediately took control. Bad thing is he wouldn't leave. Being a firm believer in the supreme being from birth ( don't know how or why ), I finally threatened the spirit with the wrath of God. He growled and hissed in rage for a brief moment, continuing to feed the storm of objects he was mentally throwing at us, and then he seemed to experience great fear at the very mention of God and suddenly, everything came back to normal. My friend had absolutely no recollection of the entire event. Now as I'm an old man, I do think I have gathered a fairly good understanding about these kinds of phenomenons, and others, none of it I can prove to anyone, naturally. I know well the difference between dreams, lucid dreams, optical illusions, hallucinations and actual outwordly manifestations. I am sane, logical, and I don't crave sensationalism, I only seek the truth. The truth is, there's much more to the Universe than what our senses can perceive. Matter, time, light, are at the bottom of the lader. The rest, we're too dumb to dive into and play with. God, being the infinitely wise and pure conscience He is, forbids it, and for very good reasons. Glory to God !

There is an interesting interview with Dio, where he talks about God. He mumbles some things as if he doesn't exactly know, but then explains how, if there is a God, it's a female and it's purple. Interestingly enough, John has a vision of the ultimate defier, opposer, the Harlot riding the beast. This kind of vision of a "female" (whore) enveloped in purple, riding a scarlet, multiple-headed beast was one of the triggers that made me read the Bible. I myself had this vision of a purple being with long hair when I was dabbling with occult and psychedelic mushrooms. Today, I'm Catholic. Praise be to God!

Western occutism is a set of serious spiritual disciplines and doctrines aimed at the development of human consciousness . It draws upon diverse influences such as neo - Platonism , the Hermetica , Kabbalah and indigenous European beliefs . It has little to no involvement with Ouija boards and other spiritualistc practices . But of course , that doesn't make for such sensationalist and apocryphal tales . If the spiritual beliefs and practices of people other than Europeans were constantly maligned and misrepresented in this way , there would be an outcry . Most rock stars have as little knowledge about or serious interest in genuine occult teachings as Sooty and Sweep when they recite their "izzy whizzy , let's get busy" number . It's all for show and to impress the gullible . And for journalists and others to dig up periodically for the tired old "he sold his soul for rock and roll" trope .

The more I see old photos of these 'caracters' or 'rock stars', the more I am convinced that they were not just regular guys who happened to create a new musical genre. Nothing on the world stage seems to happen organically or by coincidence. To the contrary, I think they were born and bread as world stage actors, by the tavistock institute, or other named or unnamed occult entity. Genetically modified rock stars. And breeding all the 'stars' to be highly androgyne is a central pillar in the practice. As with nearly all movie 'stars' (including pornstars) and all other elites. They want us to worship the 'stars' because the 'stars' are the image of the beast, quite literally. As a never ending satanic ritual, on a mass scale.
May God open our eyes so we can see through the deception. In the name of Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, so that everyone who believes in him may be saved, and not perish.

    🎼🎼TULPAS🎶🎶 TULPAS🎵🎵 we make it name it🎵🎶TULPAS🎼🎼
Created in the image of the creator
We riddle our world with tulpas.
They only continue to exist, by using the names we named them
    when creating them.
Friend or foe is determined by how they are most spoke about.
Even in stories of no no, and woe,
using the name given to them, either in rituals OR conversation
    ensures their further being.
No old devils that we have long forgotten their names
pay us any bother at all today.
Simply because they don't exist to us.
Research Tulpas and REALLY consider 360 degrees of possibilitys if so.
It might knock you into another place / level / or unit of compression
of how / why these things are.
    What was that sound?
    .
I think my house is haunted.
The old owner of my 75 year old house is dead.
    I bet it's him?
    Tell friends and family
Start seeing something out of the corner of your eye
    Repeat.
A friend says it feels weird in your house after sharing your story with them
After some time they might have seen something
early morning fog looks like the face of an old man on your kitchen window
    Everyone needs to hear this
    Feeding all the tiny creators
You now have a ghost of your own
or for the next homeowners to fatten up.
The practitioners of Majik know this all to well
and do these things with intent, building a much more effective idea into reality.
Fear this concept or understand it
an idea not yet born cares not of your opinion, as it has no effect at all.
Your Faith is old and plenty strong enough to hold up to any inquiry about other things without
    falling to pieces (I KNOW)
Every thing like this spoken about by people who know nothing at all about it isn't automatically evil.
    Those come from big pappa.
But we are busy little bees sharing stories with each other of the evils that exist.
They are grateful for our knowing their names, for those who received names may live on
    by being spoken of.
    ALL THINGS COME TRUE
    To those who believe.
I Believe should show each other more consideration and Love
And for sure SPEAK IT. millions of tiny creator words being the same intention is a pretty powerful creation indeed.
It's very hard to find someone explaining how sex majic works, but that one is a doosie.
There could be someone in this very comment section who has known about this for most of his / her life
because a very rich uncle's acquaintances / family keep passing this knowledge on to to a small few
and know / believe it works so well, that only a few should reap it's rewards.
And his / her cousin would show him his dads room whenever he could .
This is somewhat attributed to the families success.
It's all about your intentions, because your the one doing it (sex majik)
some nefarious people probably have similar knowledge as well , they assume.
    Just guessing?

I never understood why people dabble in the occult. If those things were as powerful as they claimed, they would be overtly active in this world. Instead, they hide until a meat puppet asks them to come out. You ever wonder why they hide? Maybe it's because there's an ACTUAL power they're terrified of. Why don't they try "summoning" the true power in this universe instead? Might work out better for them.

People have offered millions of dollars for years for one piece of proof, it never happens. Yet people keep on passing the stories down the line as if they have been shown to be valid. 1000s of religions with thousands of sects all disagree on the crucial details. None willing to admit, they don’t really know any of what the preach to be real. Mortality need not be that scary, but you know our egos find it repugnant and the cognitive dissonance gets the best of us because of our innate urge to live. Let it go.

@@holdfast7182 so, you think that only people who agree with something should comment? That type thinking is common with those who believe things that have no substantiation. You don’t agree with me, yet you commented, it it not the same?
Let me ask you, why do you comment on things you agree with? Isn’t the whole entire point to strengthen and validate or beliefs? If I say something, it’s not because I want a bunch of people who think exactly the same to chime in and say “good job.”
It’s to further hone my beliefs to align with reality. That’s what conversations are for, unless you are just small talking and passing the time. Which I suppose is fine. "Spiritualistic phenomenon" only happens inside people's heads. It's not something that manifests in reality. That "spiritual feeling" that people get is an emotion just like any other emotion. It's not a detection of an outside, supernatural presence.

I am a non practicing Catholic and a transgurl. I have discovered parts of the bible that....are rich in hypocrisy, I don't know what to believe anymore. Just treat people the way you want to be treated.

I grew up in the Satanic Panic of the 80s 8 I can’t tell you how resentful and smothering on an adolescents God given free will it is when your church brings in ministers with a book thicker than the Bible listing even Fleetwood Mac & Journey as demonic. I was convinced to stay away from some bands my friends loved & I resented that I couldn’t. Iron Maiden, & Dio in particular; I took it at face value from album covers that they were, only to find as I dived deep into the wormhole of their lyrics that Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, & Dio aren’t even slightly (by any deviation or doubt) on the Richter scale of satanic. All it takes is objectivity w/o the sick emotion & fear this kinda clothes line religion brings & wallah..you cld be the Christian parent I wish I had had. My parents threw away my 1984 Van Halen shirt which my (biological) Dad had got b day; & this was at the beginning of their religious right authoritarianism..by 17 I wld come home from work & step dad wld hv Aerosmith’s greatest hits cassette (tape torn) on kitchen table
Twisted Sister too, simply bc ‘Burn in Hell’ was on it & that magically made em satanists w/o a glance at lyrical content lol.
Don’t get me wrong, I am an ordained minister and harbor zero resentment towards them, I get it..they were new into the zeal of God & were led into this charismaniac strict southern baptist blue law mentality; & they had no idea teens don’t need ‘provoking to wrath’ if you smother the free will they shld be exercising (with parental reigns loosened like 3/4 by H.S. then (like me) by college they may rebel hard into sex drugs and alcohol; Satan firing up your resentment & tainting your view of God as a harsh tyrant; by what you saw amongst those you grew up to respect, pastor, assistant pastor, youth director’ mom..step dad.
In closing, yes, I found some bands of the 80s to be directly satanic (purposefully or by shallow-minded wanting a hit record following the rock trend). Shallow minded..Motely Crue ‘Shout at the Devil’; these shallow minds had no idea all the demonic garbage in this record wld lead to serious stuff; but Nikki Sixx Tommy Lee hv stated the demonic activity in their shared LA pad was off the chain after that LP; a bass pick even coming off coffee table & speeding hard into the ceiling and literally embedding like a knife in the ceiling. This is why they totally abandoned the demonic garbage of their 1st two LPs
Purpose: Slayer, King Diamond, Merciful Fate, Glenn Danzig, Venom, Marilyn Manson. All these are either Church of Satan or Athiest w/o a clue of what evil lurks bc of this garbage
My kids? I let em listen to everything and guess what..I listened with em..now we wld get censored music not a bunch of F words an all, but had any went for anything demonic (which I nor they knew any bands who were in past 20 yrs) had they become a fan..I wld def hv a long loving talk w em. Objectively go over lyrics & in the end I wld not allow it in my home. In closing, I pray some parents see this & The Lord gently convicts their heart to not be an emotionally driven, fearful churchy subjective, knee jerk reaction of Christian Parents towards their teens. It’s sinful, disgusting behavior of Christian parents, and frankly abusive imo. I’m all for corporal punishment when needed..thru high school..but this is a death blow to their free will they shld be beginning to exercise on their own & they don’t need your self righteous adult ass (who forgot how u acted as a teen) to be breathing your hot breath down their neck imo

I am also a Disciple of Watain and a leather clad blondie bombshell old school metalhead TRANSGURL. I see so much hatred in Christians.....and the bible is a joke. Yeah yeah I know I know. I say it the other way mostly bc of Ozzy, but there's also a poem Crowley wrote where he says something like "Those who think me holy call me Crowley, Those who think me foully call me Crowley." And since I don't think him at all holy and do think him incredibly foully, I choose to say it that way.

Sleep with the devil, the devil is me; is the end of the song. Now to Crowley; "Do what you like, is the whole law", is a logical consequenz of all religion. Obeying the commandments will not save you. Neither will any religion. GOD looks at the heart. At your _attitude_ ! This is all that matters. You have a good attitude, you will do right. No good attitude: no chance, do whatever you want. Pretend to be good and you are really a big fool. If you take a real honest look at your self ....
.... If thats a reason for you to give up, then you better discuss this first with Jesus.
Do not confuse it with religion. Religion is source of evil. The commercialized way to pretended salvation.
Next: The Angel of Light did not give _light_ to humanity. What he brought is 'the recognition between good and evil'. The fruit of recognition between good and evil. I've heard many say: "GOD plants a garden with many good things plus this one tree where he says we shouldn't touch it; only to kick us out the first time he looks away from us.". Perhaps the fruit was not yet ready. Or, perhaps we were not yet ready. But the LightAngel, disguised as snake, said it looks good, it smells good, it won't get better. Try, before it gets bad. And they tried and they recognized how little they were in front of GOD. They tried to hide from him. No light. No wisdom. No sex (some foolish think thats what its all about;). The full recognition between good and evil - right after doing something _not-good_ ....
