  • Welcome back to the channel
    In this weeks video I show you how to replace the rear shocks on a 2009 Subaru Forester. It is not the hardest job to do but is something that you should be careful with in regards to the spring. I hope you enjoy the video, if you do please hit the Subscribe Botton.
    As always thanks for watching and we will see you in the net one...

    I am doing my first set of these right now, your method does work but it is a lot easier if you take out the outer control arm bolt, granted in Canada/New England that bolt might not be an easy remove but it did work better for this old man with a bad shoulder :)
    Thank you for the video!

    Love it. If you drive a Subaru Forester ‘09 you’re extremely cool. I don’t make the rules 💁🏻‍♀️

    I got some, I assume, Chinese shocks which are the self levelling style. The standard shocks on mine are like this and the idea is when you hook a trailer up they will stop the rear end sagging. They have a large bulge in the housing just above the bushing, yours didn't look like this type though. The bushing size and mount on my new ones look exactly the same as the Monroe version... Interesting that the aftermarket seems to be cutting corners in this area.

    You are very funny! I'm trying to change my 09 forester ( no turbo) into a race car, so I'm funny too.

    What is the part number for the shocks? I think it is not self leveling ones

      Hi my friend, yes these ones are not self leveling they are just regular shocks however I'm not sure if that affects the function of the part as the self-leveling system is separate. The best place to get the correct part number for your vehicle is to call the dealership with your VIN number. I don't remember the part number off the top of my head.

    Do the monroe struts make the body sit higher?

    • @JimmysAutoClinic
      @JimmysAutoClinic  2 роки тому +1

      Brand new struts do not actually make your car sit higher. It may feel that way for a little bit until your brand new struts wear in a bit and then they will sit at the normal ride height.

    What is the job of the stut helper?

      Sorry I don't quite understand what you're asking me. Are you talking about the tool that I used to compress the spring?

      @@JimmysAutoClinic The strut helper is the name of the plastic between the dust cover and the strut mount.

      Sorry my friend I'm not exactly sure but from the sounds of it it sounds like it helps the strut.

      I'm not sure what plastic you may be referring to I think you may be talking about what is called the bump stop.

    why bother with that many miles?

    • @JimmysAutoClinic
      @JimmysAutoClinic  Рік тому

      Because I would like the car to work properly and just because it has high mileage doesn't mean the car is dead or shouldn't be maintained.

      This is my own car and there's not a chance in hell I would do it just for fun. You don't wait till your shocks actually break until you replace them. When they stop functioning as they are meant to you replace them as I did.
