A lot of Australian trail races are a mix of fire trail, single track and occasional road. Doesn’t usually get overly technical. If they’re a speedier/even marginally grippier version of the 36 then they should be perfect.
@@morganflockhart942 I live pretty much on the UTA course and my preference for fire trails/“gentle” single track up here is actually the streakfly. So long as it’s not steep, rocky or wet. Not sure why Nike couldn’t slim these down to a more race like weight. I’ve still ordered a pair though so 🤷♂️
@@randomknowitall Nice I nearly bought the streakfly imagine them with 3mm Vibram I’m in Cairns a lot of our trails are technical roots & rocks rainforest etc but I’ve still ordered them 😂 might run road to trail in them ( mellow trails) or bring them down to UTA would love to do the 21 or 50🤔
@@morganflockhart942 mine arrived. Have to say, super comfortable walking around. Feel like the invincible. I’d say they’re heavier because they have a pretty wide somewhat Hoka-ish footprint. So that’s a lot of foam underfoot. And despite having a pretty wide toe box they don’t feel loose at the front like the Peg Trail 4 GTX did. I found with those my foot would be slipping around a bit after a while. Lug depth looks pretty underwhelming but if they’re sticky enough it won’t matter unless it gets wet. Was tempted to do a track session in them but I’ll give them a test on the trails later this week.
Did 100k ultra yesterday with this, so Prose; wide toe box, Vibram grip, zoom X rubber. Cons; plate to stiff, shit heel lock, lacers system is either to tight or to loose No good lock, and white! What are they thinking making a trail shoe White!?
Would appreciate if you guys have a trail sure for review that you evaluate it for trails and not „complain“ around for road situations isn’t really helpful.
Mine arrived yesterday! Got a 10 mile X-country event this weekend and I cannot wait to try them out!!! Lots of Nike bashing going on so far from what I've seen on YT but personally I'm hyped for this 👌
I agree that it’s really hard to get a good foot lock on those. I was too running on technical trails and couldn’t feel any confidence with my feet sliding inside the shoes.
I'll stick to the Endorphin Edge given price point, better lugs, and like over an ounce lighter. I don't get the point of it if it's like only good for rail trail racing but it's over 10oz for a 9. I'd just wear a road shoe for something like that and the Endorphin Edge seems better lugs and way lighter for real trails but still has a high stack of super foam and plate.
Really like the look of the shoe but it would not work on the trails I run on. The studs would need to be 4.5/5mm and it’s heavy for a race day shoe. It’s a shame I was looking forward to trying this one out.
So you’re telling me up here in Rocksylvania they won’t be the best race shoe? I love the new Wildhorse 8 and the Zegama up here unless it’s wet! Imagine one of those with the vibram!!
Im returning the Ultrafly's - I tried them out on a short 10k trail but have decided that i can't justify the cost versus the versatility of the shoe plus, they're way too heavy - going to purchase Edge, UK Winters can get pretty muddy rendering this shoe next to useless on the trails. Shame as they look nice and they're very comfortable. They'd make really comfy outdoor slippers though :)
I was wanting a shoe for mainly walking on concrete paths and bitumen but I also would be using it on dirt trails and light trail use. Do you think this would be a good choice?
Thanks for the review , running shoe junkies will lap this shoe up. However I have to say running a 7 hours 50K or longer off roads no thanks. We can get the brilliant NNormal Tomir for £140 (with a recycling / re sole option) or the dependable speedgoat 5 also £100 less. (both with Vibram outsoles). Road shoe with small lugs. It is a shoe for the few individuals who can manage sub 9 minute miles over 50-100 miles Imo. I deffo will never be one of them.
Adidas cold ready for me because I don't live in Yellowstone Park, i just have some unpaved road with the little pebbles and a hill to zigzag up to no need for full blown trail shoe. The outsole of trail shoes wears down faster on regular asphalt.
Just renewed my road and trail shoes for 2023 the last three weeks by 16 new top of the line pairs, but might get this one as it seems interesting. But are really waiting for the Adidas trail monster with fun-foam (if it releases before 2024). Great review as always. Your reviews have contributed to many of my recent 👟 purchases. 👍
I have both shoes and ultrafly is softer than zegama. Forefront is only bit better than heel bounce is noticeably better. If you are looking for a soft trail I would take a look at nb fuel cell trail.
Love to see Nike go under contract with Vibram finally. (Even though i think this was the year they finally figured out their outsole issues) its a big step forward and a kiger/ wildhorse with a vibram outsole could be a game changer!
@@codyrobinson5130 fire roads mostly in southern calironia with some mix of road... prob dont need a carbon fiber plate, but i do like to pick up the speeds
Actually I like red so much, I'd give it a RED ❤ Another Park Run shoe Maybe a fire road But if some hills start... they may also end (fast & furious downhill)! This shoe is game changer? Game over ! Next (time) please
Yeah it’s a mitten rubber but apparently they’re worried about durability so they’ve gone with Vibram on this one The peg trail 4 GTX also had the new rubber!
Sounds like a shoe for buffed out trails only. Maybe something fast like Western States but definitely not UTMB. To use this as a road shoe is just plain ridiculous. I mean 250 euros... Then just buy Vaporflys. It should be Endorphin Edge price range.
Next up: Nike Dragonfly review ran fully on the road.
You guys look baked as hell 😂
This is the first comment I see and their faces at the beginning just made me laugh so hard I can’t 😂

Think I’ll pick them up just for road running.
Same, hope Nike continues to evolve on this design and makes the future generations of this shoe fit for the best of both worlds, both trail and road.
Lotta road talk for a trail shoe haha

I like that it's a Nike trail shoe that doesn't look like a retromod 80's or 90's shoe like all their others.

Like from Spain. Thanks for this information about the nike 2023. A nice weekend for everyone.
Sounds like it would make a good bad weather training shoe for roads alot of my road routes have crap surfaces anyway

Did you notice it says on the midsole "designed to be fast AF"?! 😮😮 That's a nice touch 😆

Can I run a trail 5k in this?
It’s $260 USD shown on Nike’s website. $10 increase.
How does the ZoomX midsole perform compared to the midsole in the Zegama? I really hated that midsole it was way to firm and dense

Hold up - OG vaporfly next upper and a durable outsole? This is an all rounder 💯
Like reviewing how a pickup truck handles city driving lol. Rare miss
these or the norda 002?
You want a carbon plate or a flexible shoe? I think there's a place for both. But I've reeeeally enjoying the norda 002
And also - another point to consider. Would you be running more flat / fire road trail or more mountainous terrain.

It’s lock down issues because it was modelled after the Nike invincible 😂
There should be some form of punishment for running that Megagrip rubber on the road.
The Price doesn't do justice. I read it was worn by one of the top male finishers in the Western States 100.
Nike took this long to realise that their outsole grip is rubbish & forcing them to use a vibram outsole 🙄
$340 in Canada.. hahahahahaha. No thanks my guy.
