IS THAT A FOOT-SHAPED NIKE SHOE??? This has to be closest to foot-shaped I’ve seen with Nike at least. This and the Vibram outsole makes me want to consider it.
I've found the nike trail shoes i've tried (kiger and zegama) to have decent toe box volume tbh. That having been said i'm definitely fairly middle of the road when it comes to width, salomons are too narrow but altras (except the slim footshape ones) are too sloppy
What does "foot shaped" even mean? I think my feet are foot shaped and there's no way I can run in Altras. Stop with the marketing gobbley gook. Agreed with below that Nike trail shoes are a very accommodating fit, especially compared to their road shoes.
Any shoe that fits one’s own feet well is obviously good. However with long narrow feet myself hearing a shoe fits rather wide is not what I want to hear but no doubt the reverse is also true. Shame really that there does not seem to be sufficient commercial value making more than the odd shoe model in different widths. Got to think this one is far too niche compared to say a Brooks Ghost to do so.
@@df540148foot shaped like Altra and topo, doesn’t cut across the big toe. It’s actually really important to people with natural shaped feet - not just marketing. I actually find some other brands, including Nike Vaporfly and wider Inov8 pretty foot shaped too. Adidas, the worst pointy shapes
Got this shoe at a discount, and I'm loving the wide toe box. I have flat and wide feet, so this is a saviour. I may be weird, but I'm loving this shoe on road, oh well. Thank you for the review. Fyi, the one i got is the normal colorway, the funky orange and purple was still at retail price. Again, great shoe review, and thank you.
Nice I remember how comfy you said they were during trail tested! At the end of the day it’s a super shoe carbon plate etc so price wise it’s cheaper than Alpha fly vapor fly in 🇦🇺it’s cheaper than Tec X 2 A380 and Endorphin Edge is only $10 cheaper than Nike NordaOO2 Speedland &Kailash are all high A$400 i like the look of the NB Supercomp trail but as I stated in comments the toe box is supposed to be snug? Although NB are good with there width availability! Hope you can test them soon!
So want this shoe as I’ve been waiting for Nike to add Vibram to their somewhat not great traction trail shoes which fit well, but $250 if a hefty pill to swallow.
11.1 oz? That’s pretty heavy. Love Pebax foam. The Vaporfly is sub 7oz….wonder why this shoe is so heavy. Would have loved to hear more about the performance of the carbon plate on the trails.
Have about 30 miles in mine. Really have loved running in this shoe. The vibram outsole is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. I would say it shines on fire roads and light technical trails. Gnarly trails it’s ok.
Little puzzled by reviewing a prototype. If it has been good for lots of miles over a year and is still holding up well why was the outsole considered so bad it was swopped out. I wonder if the Vibram has added weight and/or has otherwise changed the feel of the shoe. Also for a shoe marketed for racing it seems very heavy from what have heard. Is that the Vibram I wonder...
It’s an early sample vs prototype, but I definitely agree about weight. While the number is higher than I’d like, it really didn’t ‘feel’ heavy or clunky 🤷
The Nike outsole sucks. It doesn’t stick to rock at all and gets slippery when wet. Fine for gravel and dirt but if you are getting into alpine or run in rocky rooty areas that get wet it’s borderline unusable.
My big critisim is this shoe was designed for the Trail's in the US and none technical trails with its shallow lug depth. Over here in Europe the trails are narrow with uneven variable rocky terrain and mud galor it just doesn't have the depth in the lugs to deal with the terrain over here in the UK and EU.
This shoe is pretty great. Great cushion, traction and bounce for moderate trails. Only bad thing so far is lock down. But that might change once I get 30 plus miles
Noo, say it’s crap please. I finally got my trail shoe favorites figured out after the last year of trail and error (see what I did there?) and I do not want to spend anymore money trying new shoes in hopes they are perfect and be crowned my new favorite. Until next month anyway…
I do like Nike - ran in the Wildhorse, Zegama, and Pegasus Trail. This said, the Arc’teryx Norvan LD3 is bombproof with Vibram for A LOT less that $250!
New Balance super comp trail seems like it might be a better shoe- stability and outsole look like they'll provide more for the runner than the Nike does.
The $250 is ex-tax as that is how US pricing works as sales tax varies per region whereas £229 is VAT inclusive. So their pricing is unfortunately basically the same in the US and UK.
Wishful thinking grabbing these on sale. I expect a limited run, and they sell out immediately. Maybe by Christmas some new colorway. With all the long term Hype, them adding the Vibram, I think its going to be a Win for Nike and a Fail for mass availability.
This is the first time (at least for me)I’m seeing that you recommend buying a shoe which costs $250. Even though I’m not a trail runner, I want to buy one
Finally Nike teamed up with Vibram! Best of both worlds! Hopefully more colour ways will appear on the market, white trail shoes just don’t sit well with me. And the price. I shall wait for price to drop and more colour ways.
I really want to try the new gel-kayano 30 or the nimbus 25, though I'm still not quite sure which one to get. Seems like the perfect easy/steasy run shoe.
The Nike trail shoes that I've worn over the years have always been comfortable. However, the lugs have always been too shallow and were sketchy on tech or sandstone. So, I've limited my wearing this shoe to loamy trails near my home. (Currently have the Peg 4 trail) At $250.00, will it be better than the Hoka Torrent or other models?
Been running in the summit Vectiv pro….hoping this is a better alt. Carbon plate at the top of the midsole I’m kinda on the fence about with the summits.
@@TheGingerRunner have done one 11, then 18 1/2(5500 gain), then 2 short runs followed by another 18 1/2(5700 gain). I mentioned it in the review, a few hundred at least. I usually stop counting around 60-80 or when a shoe is reviewed. In this case, I documented my first run in Trail Tested and waited until they were made available (far longer than I expected). With the number of shoes I rotate through, it’s hard to accurately put a number to these, but I’m probably being pretty conservative honestly.
With as many shoes as you test, strava or Garmin should be the go 200 for mileage tracking those shoes! Thanks for the review! I wouldn't consider 200 miles a lot or worthy of $250. That carbon plate probably doing more damage to your feet than it is making any of us faster.
I would be okay with spending as much as possible on a pair of high quality nikes if its performance, durability, and design lives up. I place a huge emphasis on my feet!!
How does the ZoomX midsole perform compared to the midsole in the Zegama? That midsole was terrible. Major disappointment for me. So firm and dead. I disagree about the premature wear out of the Nike midsoles. At least when it comes to React foam. I've ran in more than I can count and remember, and never experienced it. Never. Except from the foam that TnF uses, react is the best there is.
It would be a nice shoe if they ditched the carbon plate and replaced it with a flexible rock plate. I can only imagine my leg pain after running many hours in a rigid carbon plate shoe.

Why would anyone make a trail shoe in WHITE? (or even a road shoe for that matter)
When you don’t have $250 as a negative, that’s all you need to know about how good of a shoe this is
And yet folk are saying the NB Fuelcell Trail might be even better than this! My poor bank balance 😢😂

The answer is outsole rubber. And thicker upper.

It's designed for some of the US trails. There are loads of really technical trails that compare with those in Europe.
Just picked these up for $120 US I’d like to say absolute steal 😆 can’t wait to try them out!
At 7:43 I just hit the stop button. Absolutely absurd price for a pair of shoes.

I agree possibly! But early reviews suggest a snug toe box! So unless they bring a wide version I’d have to pass ☹️
Seconded.
It’s interesting thus far, for sure
The price and weight puts me off would probably just use for an ultra as its too heavy for shorter trail races

How to wash this shoes 😢?? properly
How is the grip on more muddy terrain? The lugs seem pretty small. Also are they at least water resistant, or does a small splash equal trench foot?
How would these outersoles hold up on concrete paths and bitumen roads?
