The Inov-8 F-Fly is designed to be a hybrid training shoe that works for running and lifting - think things like HYROX.
For context, I like most Inov-8 training shoes and the fit and feel they provide for most workouts, so I was super excited to buy the F-Fly model to start putting them to the test. I was most concerned with their runnability.
In my Inov-8 F-Fly first impressions video, I'll cover my first thoughts about this shoe, discuss its sizing, and talk about my first workouts in it.
    0:00 First Impressions
    5:10 Sizing and Fit
    5:57 First Workout With VO
    8:07 Final Thoughts
After my first few sessions, I'm jazzed on this model and feel like their niche construction is going to do well for hybrid athletes.
I know I personally love having a shoe that can hold its own for strength work but also perform well for various running distances.
As I continue to test the Inov-8 F-Fly, my main goals will be to assess this shoe's durability and runnability and determine its stability threshold.

@@thatfitfriend Watched your review of the F-Fly, and other hybrid options, and will definitely be pressing the trigger on the purchase. Just looking for Inov8 to help with a sizing issue. I bought their Bare XF and found my usual size at least a half size too big, maybe a full size. They have explained that the width of the F-Fly is narrower than the Bare XF, but it is not so much the width as the length. I take a US9 on all my Nike trainers, but the US9 in the Bare XF was massive for me. Just don't know if, lengthwise the F-Fly is similar to the Bare XF or not. Anyway, when I do sort this out and press that trigger, I will be using your link to shop that shoe ... Cheers.

@@thatfitfriend Hi Jake. Thanks so much for the thoughts on sizing (inov-8 answers were pretty useless, frankly - just pointing me to their size chart; I can read!). Based on our exchanges, and my feeling, I ended up sizing down a half size from my Bare XF, which I find a little large for me (they are my usual Mens US9 that I use for all my Nike shoes), and i reckon the US8.5 are just perfect. I certainly couldn't have gone down a full size, and my feeling is that the US9 would have been ok (but not as ok as the US8.5 seem).
Did my first session with them yesterday, including lunges, burpees, wall balls, running, rowing and ski-erg, and they really performed well.
They are also super lightweight, so you don't feel them on your feet at all. I haven't had the opportunity to sled in them, but hopefully soon. Anyway, I wanted to let you know how they had gone and to thank you again both for this YT video, the more in depth video you have since done, and your really kind advice on IG. All much appreciated, amigo.
(PS I took the black (on the basis that they will wear better than white for outdoors work), and if they continue to do the Hyrox type job for me that I am looking for I may very well take a second pair, in white, certainly if/when there is a sale, but possibly sooner - one pair to wear to train and the second for the event itself in November???) Cheers.

Another awesome review, Jake. Currently, working out in the Bare XF model and lovin them but was wondering how the F-Fly, given that it uses the same boomerang footbed, compares in fit to the Bare XF. I find that the B XF has a narrow enough heel, wide enough midfoot, and roomy toe box for my unusual duck feet. I acknowledge that these are two different shoes but again, just wondering if there is a similar fit (heel, midfoot, toebox). Thinking about getting these for those WODs involving more running and jumping. Thanks!

Which do you think is the best for the following use case: standing/walking mostly with some occasional jogs (4-5x/week, 1-3 miles/session) with some lifting (squats/deadlifts/compound moves). Someone with a wider foot and like Altras for their wide toe box and 0 heel to toe drop

Any CrossFit/all around athletic shoe recommendations for long, skinny feet? I’m a men’s 12.5, B to C width and it is hell finding anything that I’m not swimming in. Inov-8 used to be my go to for close to zero drop, all around shoes that I could make work. Many other brands don’t even have men’s 12.5 (skipping from 12 to 13), and if you want 0 drop or close to it you end up with humongous volume shoes. I fear that while Inov-8 is moving in the direction of the masses, they’re going to leave us long time narrow footed customers behind. The 235v3 is not a good fit for me, the 245 is a usable (but discontinued now), and the new version of the barefoot shoe will probably be a joke for me (no issues with Bare XF 210v2 sized down and cinched).
If you know of anything, I’m all ears!

Will work to an extent. I notice the midsole start to compress around 335 lbs and for CrossFit, you should be relatively okay in them! They don't have the most aggressive upper so keep that in mind with WODs with a lot of abrasion
