I’ve had one for several months now. Awesome practice tool when the wife is sleeping. Great sounding for the $$$ but could use a tuner. RJ really makes it sound great!
Very thorough review (and excellent playing as always!). Couple things to mention - it doesn’t have a tuner, and the jam tracks and artist tracks are only about a minute or two in length, so not really very useful for jamming to. However, it does Bluetooth “in,” so you can link to phone or tablet and play backing tracks from UA-cam to jam along with, which I find great for practicing! Looking forward to you doing a direct comparison between this and the Fender micro amp!
It sounds great, another option for beginners who ask about amps. I love the spark and katana, but for absolute beginners they have option paralysis problems. I think having the Katana made it harder overall for me to "figure out" how tone happens. I think most people will gravitate toward one of these amp models and a couple of effects. I think I spent a week playing with the Katana's rotary and vibe options and not getting any actual practice done.
I have one of those🤘👽🤘 honestly I couldn't be happier with it, especially when you consider the price. Once you have time to really dig in and try out what seems to be endless options I'd be willing to bet that any guitar player could appreciate having one of these. As far as a practice amp, that's why I bought to begin with. I wanted to practice without fear of disturbing anybody, plus while using ear plugs it lends itself to unbridled experimentation! On a hilarious note, I was able to plug it into a complete turd of a tiny amplifier and it was pretty damn fun playing with it like that 😆 when I bought it I didn't have any sort of amplifier at all to even go with my new guitar (been playing acoustic for years, but I got them both at the same time... Haven't looked back since!)
Just checking for reference. You took the headphone out cable into the "turd" input and it worked that way? That is genius! Another selling point to me! Thanks!
I was about to order the micro Mustang when I found the Mighty Plug. It was much more what I wanted. And what I’d wanted the Vox amPlugs to be. I love the story about how the engineer behind the Mighty Plug loved the amPlugs and wanted to do a revamped take on the idea. Being a handy USB audio interface is also nice. You can set the USB to dry mode for use with the iStrobo app or an effects apps. I have to wonder if Nux is actually manufacturing the micro Mustang for Fender using the same platform.
You sure know how to play. I loved that little latin blip you did. That seems to be your thing. You got out of that way too fast for me LOL Great review!
I bought one to use with my bass as i already have an NUX MLD bass preamp and that is an included model on the unit, it is a great little tool i often just jam along with the built in tracks

Beautiful Jake E. Lee Charvel. This is not my kind of thing however it sounds really good and the app has great features too. Also it's nice to see you demo something outside the boutique range 😀

Just plugging the NuX into the guitar yielded tones that to me sounded thin and tinny, but using the app actually seemed to transform it into something useful for practice and exploring some different tones. All the features available at that price are impressive.
Hi R.J. ... well I bot that thing and yep those the trick I like it.... but could you please tell me why the drum loops on the earplugs but not the play alongs... just don't get it....
Nonplussed by the sound, though I wasn't by the fender one either (or any other micro amp so far). So far the only digital amp I really found motivating was Yonacs TonStack - but thats of course a matter of taste and of individual physiological perception (everybodies personal frequency curve is different).

Question. In looking at buying this for bass. Where is the bass amps in the options?. It's not clear. I know it's in amps but don't know whitch ones. Also there is a pro version with a bass mate amp is that the correct one?. Any help would be great.
Hi. Don't own this myself. I'm looking into buying one for bass. Apparently from what I can understand. The bass amps is there still it's on like amps. But it is definitely still there.
There isnt one anymore, you just select one of the bass amp types MLD, AGL or STARLIFT, then choose a suitable cab ir: AGL_DB810, AMP_SV810, MKB_410 or TRC_410
This thing sounds pretty great and seems like a ton of fun, I’d be interested to see the comparison to the Fender unit, for sure. Thanks R.J.!
The accompanying app has been updated recently along with the firmware. You now have 7 preset slots and you can now all use all amps.
Hah, I replied to RJ's Mustang Micro demo saying "If only it had a fuzzbox"... Well here's the Big Muff! Fuzz is my comfort food sound. Gotta have it.

It actually does have a tuner.

How exactly did you hook it up to a real amp? What cables did you need and what went into what?
It's a thing to appreciate RJ's riffing and commentary, but the non verbal communication is also a great indicator of whether a product's any good.

Wow..feature packed. I just was given a Mustang Mico but I have to admit this looks even cooler.
Check last ppowerfull update - 7 separate presets, sharing with QR, importing IR? more effects)

one thing you didn't mention is if you can stream music to the device via Bluetooth?
You can!
Yes u can
This thing sounds awesome!! Want!!!
My only issue with these types of devices is often after a few years their software isn't supported anymore. IE Fender mustang software.
I'm convinced. I want one.
Please talk about guitar travel cases. And what you use. Suggestions. Sage advice. Thanks 😊
Just bought one yesterday.
Just bought one one hour ago. Could you tell me how to use it?
Not bad at all! Its hilarious man, a video from 10 years ago came up, and you look younger now then back then!?😅
Are those headphones Grado’s?
Are you a Filipino?

I just saw they have updated the app. Are there any major differences with the tones that you can save in each slot?
Do you prefer the sound quality and Amp simulations of the Nux over the Vox amplug? Thanks
RJ I enjoyed your demo and review but you move way too fast. Do you think I can make a good SRV patch using this amp ? Cold Shot?
I have the Mighty lite amp, so odd that the software settings for that with the same app has barely any of the features. 4 amps, that's it.
Is it normal that on my Mighty Plug the big button is flimsy and you can hear it rattling when you shake the device?
