I was at this show at The Laugh Stop in ‘98. Listening back is a hilarious walk down memory lane. I was working at rock 101KL O L at the time and was leading a fairly decadent life. Things I wouldn’t be proud to tell my family at the Thanksgiving table if you know what I mean. But when Doug walked out on stage, I thought “well I must not be that bad“ he’ brilliant, fearless and full of heart I’ll never forget it.

He totally does not even take himself seriously in any way either. I consider him the comedians comedian. He elevates the profession to another level.

I have depression and I can tell you that Doug and comedy in general are absolutely a cure to an extent. Everybody’s different but for me things like comedy, music, meditation, etc alleviate it very much. It doesn’t work for everybody but some people with depression respond greatly to those kind of things. Louis Ck is another one of my favorite stand up comedians

Also, get some ceremonial grade green matcha tea down your neck whenever you feel down. It contains theanine which is good for your brain. If you drink a lot of caffeine, stop. & other than that, watch comedy & be cool.
Stanhope has a memory that would shame Einstein. Einstein could not remember enough of a Stanhope set to last ten minutes. He is a Genius without peer.
@@PalashaGabarra Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course! George Carlin's best word is from his 60's onwards, Hicks died when he was 33. Carlin was great, obviously, but imo Hicks had more balls on a younger age to go against the establishment etc. Carlin started at retirement age with that.
