in music area i can see a big difference but graphically its about the same, i prefer the genesis music but the snes sounds funky as well, close call. this game!!!
MemoryLane ☺️. I tried this game on Sega Genesis. But I didn't get to finish it. Back in 2000's. there was a lot of left unfinished games and shows. I remember writing down level codes for stages. Flip yaa love this game
Interesting. The SNES is the lead platform. Chris Gray designed and programmed the SNES version, while someone else programmed the Mega Drive version. Game also runs at the same resolution as SNES.
SNES version might be the original because the Mega Drive version runs in the same limited resolution of 256x224 pixels instead of using a higher resolution of 320x224 pixels as most Mega Drive games do. Otherwise, the intro looks better on SNES but in-game it's about the same. Never played this game but seems pretty good. I like the main character design and how it moves when crouching :D
It is the original. Also in the original you can switch weapons while playing. The genesis version got lazy, and has you switch the weapons while pausing.
SNES wins overall because of the extra colours mostly. And there's one of the others reason beyond slightly prettier visuals, which is the additional buttons on the SNES controller making it easier to select weapons and use the melee punch and stuff. But the Genesis version does have louder and clearer sound, although I expect just turning the SNES version up a little more will balance out the volume level while probably being less harsh on the ears at the same time.
SNES 60fps > MD/GEN 30fps. Plus SNES has better more detailed visuals. The SNES is *obviously* the best of the two. No real excuse for 30fps 2D titles back in those days I'm afraid (ie: Xmen, Chakan, Ranger X, etc).
Im shocked on how many people prefer Sega Genesis version over Nintendo SNEs version. It must be people straight of trolling. So let me break down the true dominant version for you all. Sound: First of all, Genesis version of sound is way too loud, Screeching and it is very rough sound. Everything from shooting your gun to pick up weapons, sound of fall damage, sound of getting hit, warp sound. All of it is really hurting in the ear after a long time. While SNES version is much more smoother, catchy, has a nice echo sound to it as well as natural sound. So that's 1 point already to SNES. Graphics: Again genesis graphic is to crude. Sure it's lighter and it not a whole lot of difference with colours but SNES has much smoother rendition, nicer colour, more pleasing to the eye and the amount of details SNES version has with its background is a big win. It gives out a warm athmospere. Not to mention that the game sprites are definitely better in SNES version. So again another point to SNES. Control: SNES is a big winner in this category. SNES version is very smooth is control, gives you momentum when moving. It is easy to control your movement. Genesis is somewhat stiff when moving about. The movement itself is slower and it feels like you have to force BOB to make the desired movement. Another blow for Genesis is the fact they only have 3 buttons. So if you wanna punch the minor enemies to conserve ammo you have to physically equip melee move. While SNES you have a spare button to use punch whenever you feel like it. So far 3 points to SNES. Game feel: SNES game feel is very nice. It's smooth and does not lag. It's very polished and definitely looks like a complete version. Genesis feels laggy, unresponsive and overall boring to play to the finish. Another key important thing is that SNES had better game developer = Gray Matters who definitely feels like they took their time to complete the game. Genesis had EA and back then EA was not a killer when it came to game development. I mean EA was mostly focused on sports related game. And even now in present EA is hated by practically everyone. Putting EA to make a Genesis version of BOB feels more of a cash grab attempt. So in conclusion SNES wins as the best version and it does not come as a surprise really. There is a clear reason why Sega has always struggled with their consoles and that is that their game engine is too crude. It focus a lot on processor which means that graphic, sound, control etc is not up to par to deliver a stellar shine to it. That's why their consoles such as Saturn, Dreamcast and their handheld consoles did not do well . Dreamcast is the only console that was truly Segas best and even that bite the dust.
Thanks fanboy, next time try without the blindfold. (And without the ear plugs! Better sound in the SNES... the music isn't even in tone in some themes!🤣)
I played the sega version and I love it so much why snes feels slower in some way plus I didn't like the music on the snes it feels odd the machine stage them is slow and missing some instruments the sega them is faster and have more better instruments don't get mad or something if you like the snes version than no problem it's your choice but for me I think the sega version is the winner for me 😊
Ambas as versões têm gráficos lindos e semelhantes!
Unfortunately the Sega port is horribly unoptimized. Like Sonic Spinball, it was probably written in C language, which cuts the framerate in half. The MD was built to run games like this at 60FPS so that's inexcusable. They also didn't take advantage of the MD's higher resolution mode, which this game would've benefitted from due to the character size and speed.
There’s almost no difference. I suppose the SNES has more subtle colours but is lacking slightly in sound and music. The teleport effect is better on SNES.
Huh. The SNES version definitely has better graphics but the audio... Genesis has way better sound, especially the music. Strange that the music on the SNES is so bleh.
I like were the score is located in the genesis is much better below the health bar, the score board on the snes is in the middle of the screen interfering with the view. Genesis Wins!!
As much as I like the looks and sound of the mega drive version, unfortunately, it plays like shit compared to the snes. It's choppy and has input delay, also the snes has a dedicated button for punching.
I'm a big Sega fan, but the SNES version is better unfortunately. The game could've been a lot smoother and better visually, but we got a lazy port instead. The Genesis definitely can do more than that.
@@roadkill_52 Well that happens both ways around, and there are many games that look and run better on one console mostly because the developer did a bit of a lazy port to the other rather than it being because the other console was less capable in a lot of the cases.
I love how you shoot and crash into the wall in both versions at the same time! 4:45

Genesis seens to be running at 30fps, SNES is much more smoother

I love how both versions have the same resolutions!!
It's funny because on the start screen graphics look much better on SNES. But as soon as the game starts, I like the color palette of the Genesis
The fall damage on SEGA Genesis is more forgiving than SNES version!!
Best graphics on SNES, best music on SEGA.
OK
Most shining colors on Sega Genesis
Still one of my favorite games of all times, I went back to play it recently using emulators :)
Not many people would say that, I’d wager, lol. Did you have the SNES or Genesis version?
it's funny and weird at the same time: snes seems to be imitating the mega synthesized sound in its version of the game, has anyone else noticed this?
Interesting. The SNES is the lead platform. Chris Gray designed and programmed the SNES version, while someone else programmed the Mega Drive version. Game also runs at the same resolution as SNES.
David R. Foley and his team at the already-defunct Foley Hi-Tech Systems was responsible for the Genesis (Mega Drive) counterpart.
SNES is better hands down. im soo glad i owned the SNES version

mega drive / geneis verison is sharper
@@javaykirk2688They didn't even use the native resolution of the Genesis, what a waste of potential.

the snes version looks a bit blurry you agree?
Well at least Genesis version have the light colors!!

Sorry man, I agree with everything but the song is very bland in the snes version, the main melody of the snes song is just a fart sound
I can't believe I'm saying this but SNES is the best version here! But I would love playing the Genesis version!!

music is better on sega, nintendo control is more comfortable
I play in Android with sega Emulator
Nintendo looks better but genesis SOUNDS better
Sega genesis
I like were the score is located in the genesis is much better below the health bar, the score board on the snes is in the middle of the screen interfering with the view. Genesis Wins!!
Funny, the Mega Drive lags when there are too many enemies on screen. Definitely looks and plays inferior to the snes.
So much for blast processing.
@@kekeke8988 the genesis can do more than that... it was a lazy port

Tylko nintendo!!!
Deu empate
SEGA WINS
The enemies eyes are really small on the snes almost blinded, genesis wins now looking more deeper the music is better too for this game!
Acho a versão do mega drive
Melhor .
