  • The Pixel 8 is now lighter and more compact, yet it comes with an incredibly bright 120Hz display. A larger battery, faster charger and an improved ultra-wide cam with AF are also among the most important feature upgrades. Check out our video review to learn ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW about the phone's top features, build and screen quality, battery life, performance, and camera image quality.

    It's a really worthy phone to get, but Google software locking certain features exclusively for the Pro phone is a bad decision. The Pixel 8 should get the same treatment to sell better 🤙

    The thing that I feel that is not being mentioned about the 7 years support window is what just happened with older pixel models update to android 14. There are features in the new Android version that are exclusive to pixel 8, and even funnier enough, only exclusive to pixel 8 pro. These features are purely software, and despite the company calling the tensor G3 a more ai focused processor in comparison to last year's models, the pro will still have features that the regular pixel 8 will not have, despite sharing the same chip. My question is, what is the guarantee that the pixel 8 and pro will not suffer from the same selective omissions that older models did just now with android 14 when future models come out? Let's not forget that many of these ai features are using cloud servers to process their magic.

    • @ClaudioSilvaSousa
      @ClaudioSilvaSousa 9 місяців тому +11

      That is exactly my opinion... Update on security only? And a few tricks here and there of Android OS that nobody is asking. And this outdated chip for 7 years?

      That is generally the way it works. The more money you pay, the more you get in hardware and software. Apple, Google, etc, are upselling you to their flagship devices where they can make money. They make little on the upper mid-range phones like the Pixel 8.

      There is no guarantee and that's the beauty in what people say: don't buy a device based on a promise what it will get, buy it based on what it can do now. There is no guarantee that there will be updates that make it better, but they could also update the hell out of it and keep it for all those 7 years. It's a gamble, a pretty big one, all that matters is whether you want to be one of the few who are willing to take it. Based on their history, I wouldn't, because every single Pixel launch has been a buggy mess, in which they failed to deliver on all their promises. I remember when I got the 2XL and boy was that bad at launch. The good ol' Nexus days are long gone. I bit the bullet with the 2XL, 5, 6a and the 7 Pro and never again. Currently running an iPhone, which I'm not that happy with (mainly because of the lack of access to internal storage, to use the phone as a flash drive of sorts, or to play movies over usb to my TV etc., plus some other stuff, faceid is nice though), so I'm now looking at Moto Edge 40 Pro or the Xperia 5 V.
      If the Pixel 8 had a snapdragon SOC and most software features weren't blocked in my country I'd really consider it, since it ticks most of my boxes. I just don't want to deal with the bugs and region restrictions anymore. I also don't trust that the Tensor G3 will last for 7 entire years.

      Just get a deal from buying one used off FB marketplace. Even if not 7 years after 4-5 you should probably switch phones. Problem with 7th Gen pixels is they lose updates and security by 2026 so you really only have 2 years left but thats if you're willing to upgrade then

    I just got a pixel 8 pro from att with a fully paid upgrade (36mo payoff discount) trade in on a Samsung A32 (hopefully it goes through smoothly). It's nice to have a phone not bloated with ATT/Samsung shovelware. I wish it had a headphone jack and sd card slot, but besides that i am really liking it. Photography is my hobby, and I own lots of high end cameras, but this is the first "pro" camera phone I have owned. DNG support for editing in Adobe Lightroom sounds like a great idea... can't wait to test it out.

    While it is a decent phone, it still has all the same problems that google is notorious for. They still have a sub par processor and overheating issues owned it for like 4 days and went back to Oneplus 11. If Google is gonna charge 100$ more they need to do better

    • @SlightlyPro_
      @SlightlyPro_ 9 місяців тому +10

      I don't why people keep complaining about the heating issues. Its been a week since I got the pixel 8 and sure, the first couple of days it did heat up, but now, it's running very smooth. I have absolutely no heating issues.

    • @jejunamja
      @jejunamja 9 місяців тому +1

      You know I had the OnePlus 11 but I returned it cuz the screen doesn't get bright enough at least here in Southern California and so each phone has its strength and weakness. But yeah I agree with you they need to do better with the processor. I ended up getting a used mint condition s23 Plus and so I'm pretty happy with it it's not as clean as UI as Google but the screen and the processor in the modem are definitely a lot better

    • @hienho15
      @hienho15 9 місяців тому

      For real. I wanted to get the 8boro but seems like the same problem exists. They add all these AI features and promote it like crazy but the things that need to be fixed, are still problems. I would happily upgrade if the battery is better and the modem is stronger. I don't upgrade for added features I will never hardly use.

    Interesting I traded in my Pixel 7 for the 8 during pre-order and got my Pixel 8 used it for about 11 days and I thought there's got to be something wrong with this phone as it's not getting anywhere near the battery life I see listed online with other owners of pixel 8 and so I went back to Best buy and said there's something wrong with this phone and so they took it and they ordered me another Pixel 8 that I should should get November 9th but maybe there was nothing wrong with that pixelate maybe that's just how bad the battery life is cuz at work I'm on data all the time so I wonder I guess the eight is just as bad as the seven when it comes to the modem in the battery life which would be a bummer cuz that's the reason I got rid of the seven.
    So here's the question why does the pixel 8 pro get such good battery life it's got the same processor and modem Yes it has a bigger battery but it seems to be getting much better battery life than the 7 pro.
