He just can't help, the phone is just awesome. He still managed to sing the same old song regarding the difference between the 8 pro and 8, all though the feature difference is quite evident. And yes, he is still getting those bucks from Apple 🤣🤣
don't get y all yutubers have the sameScript about editing features in pixel 😅all the photo editing tools by google are already available since more than 3years on tools like p rofessional film editing software and also lightroom, photoshop etc.. google just made it more handy, I have been using similar tool like magic eraser since 2016 on snapseed, google just made it easier to do in the photos app by just a tap. Last time mkbhd said there is not much difference in the phones to justify 300$ difference so they listened to mkbhd this time and cut down features on non pro phone.😂
I also like the little things Google pixel does. I just flew and 24 hours before my flight Google reminded me of it. Not only did it remind me of it, it told me when to leave to arrive at the flight and what gate my flight was on. When I landed it told me what number carousel my bags were coming out. It's the smartness of this phone. The little things that it does. The voice to text is almost perfect. I use it every single day. The pixel makes my life easier. due to the small enhancements that you don't realize you need until you live without it.
That's basically been a part of Android for 10 years or more but the issue is it is inconsistent and sometimes just won't work or will remind you way too late for it to matter anyway
Now anybody who hacks google can know your entire schedule, know when your flight leaves, know when you'll be out of town, and know exactly when to rob you. Don't throw your entire life into a phone mate, privacy is an amazing thing.
I know it won't come back but I really do miss the old rear fingerprint reader on older Pixels. It always felt so responsive and straightforward. It feels like the one piece of the puzzle that would make this phone perfect to me.
i missed the colored power button, but i guess metal rails kinda makes this an impossible task now. i don't really missed the fingerprint reader at the back as it kinda ruins the aesthetic. but considering how many people are complaining about this optical sensor being so bad, they should consider going back to physical sensors but incorporate it onto the power button like many other phones are doing it. no shame in not having in screen fingerprint scanners.
Nothing beats physical sensor for sure, i'm currently using pixel 5a, it never misses a tap, also it has 3.5, these might disappear soon in all phones but i still think these are really practical features
I am liking the amount of advancement and refinements Pixel series has been doing. I have been using my pixel 6 past two years and so far it has been a great phone that is just as fast as when I got it (small bugs here and there rarely). I am looking forward to what the pixel 9 will look like when I am ready to upgrade next year.
For real, I usually break my phone in less than a year. I'm still rocking my Pixel 6 and it never had any huge bugs. When I had a Galaxy S2, that thing started to bug as soon as the S3 was announced. The only really bad thing about it is the battery. Really doesn't seem to last for long enough.
My wife just got hers in the blue, really jealous but I'm still loving the Fold. It's by far the most complete foldable phone, the screen size is so great to the point I'd love shorter phones with closer to 16:9 even without the fold!
Wow! I was really surprised. You are a tough reviewer. You are fair, objective and you don't play favorites. If there is even the slightest problem, you will let us know. Even if it is a minor, under-the-hood techie issue that most people wouldn't even notice. So, when I saw this, I was shocked. If you like it, then it really is good. I have ordered the phone. Thank for taking the time to do this.
@@kumarrahul1982Phones have been strong enough for years. That A13 is also missing all the dope pixel features. Stop looking at numbers and realize you are buying into these benchmarks way too much.

Yea I noticed this immediately the first day I updated my pixel 6 pro, I went to work did the same things I usually do and came home with like 20% more battery than anytime before. It was at like 45% before I would walk through my door at night at like 20%
Now getting even more excited for the Blind Smartphone Camera test at the end of the year💯 Seeing Pixel lineup improving year on year is the good news we all wanna hear!😊
@@Volker_A4I've had the same thoughts, on foreign western countries, Google Pixel images look somehow more appealing than Pixel images taken in humid tropical countries like India, or in Southeast Asia, where the processing probably couldn't figure out itself to adjust to, and thus appearing more "HDR'y" or too processed. Not sure if it's a Google Pixel issue in general, but that's always been such a phenomenon for me; it's theorized that camera lens behave differently in humid conditions and explains why iPhones, Pixels produce better images from Europe and America, then on Asia Samsung performs best.
I think the only thats stopping me from switching from my 4xl is the radar feature. The ability to just immediately unlock as soon as you pick it up is super underrated, it has stopped receiving updates now though and the 6 years of support for the 8 is tempting
I'm trying to hang on to mine but the lack of updates is bugging out my phone and it's forcing me into getting the 8 😭. The free unlimited storage is the main reason I'm hanging on so tightly.
You can do it with the 8, turn on raise to wake and unlock with skipping the lock screen. But it might struggle in low light but oh well, you have the fingerprint for that
Best buy gave me $450 trade in for my pixel 7, I got the pixel 8 and new pixel buds pro for free. Pretty nice deal. Glad to hear the screen looks nice, it was something I was hoping they'd improve on.
I'm interested in that follow up video on the generative ai editing features. Seems like content filtering is a persistent problem right now with all of the corporate ai solutions. They want to prevent abuse, which I understand, but they're scared of negative press so they filter WAY too aggressively which results in lots of false positives. And the whole thing just feels hypocritical because even if it works correctly, it's an arbitrary moral judgement being imposed on us by an inherently amoral company.
There is another difference between the regular 8 and the 8 pro shown on the website The 8 still has a fixed focus for the selfie camera while the 8 pro has now autofocus (otherwise the exact same sensor) Any noticeable difference in the experience?
I feel you. Im moving soon from a 5 year old phone to either this or the S23. Havent really decided yet but in the end it probably doesnt matter as it will be a huge improvement!
@@bahenbihen Yeah any flag phone will be a good upgrade. Some people seem to prefer the S23 over the P8. If i were you I'd wait for S24, Samsung announced some major improvements in A.I.
I was really considering going from the P7 to the P8 Pro, but considering how many features are simply software locked I'm gonna hold out for the P9, by which point a lot of the features will have probably trickled down in typical Google fashion. Still, it's super exciting to see Google continue to make big swings in the smartphone space!
Unlike iPhones, Pixel phones do not retain value well. So I recommend trading your P7 now before it makes a drastic drop. BestBuy is offering $450 trade-in value for the P7. You can trade in your P8 to get the P9 next year. You will not get much for your P7 a year from now.
I bought the P7 PRO for a great price last month. It is soo good and the price is sublime. After they announced the P8 I was happy I chose the P7 at reduced price. I don't feel the P8 is offering that much more. its my first Pixel and I love it! I moved from Samsung and I am not going back. Great phone!
Google is doing a lot of great things with the Pixel phones these days. Hopefully they can continue to make incremental, meaningful improvements consistently over time and win over the masses. I'll probably stick with my Pixel 7 and wait for the 9, but man, I hope these phones do well!
Agreed. Sticking with my 7. Though it's tempting every year. You are absolutely right though, seeing these get better and better is great. Looking forward to the 9!
I told myself last year I would hold onto to the 7 until the 9 came out (I DID plan on going from 6 to 9). But now the 8 is arriving tomorrow lmao I have no self control
Honestly I was gonna get a non-pixel phone for my next upgrade. But knowing that the Pixel 8 FINALLY supports external display through usb c has made this phone a must have for me
Soooo glad to see the battery life improvmemts compared to the pixel 6 and 7 series. I just got my s23 this year and will make the switch to a pixel phone after a few years if they keep it up👌
Have an s22 and will probably wait until s24 ultra drops, cause the battery life in the s22 is crap. Picked up the pixel 8 pro and ain't looking back now 😂
Only one physical sim is a really important omission if you travel!! Many apps like Google send you messages asking you to confirm if it is you, banking apps constantly send you 2-factor security codes if you use your card, and all to your main registered number. So you need to keep your main number active when abroad, which means that's your physical Sim slot used up. Not all UK carriers use eSims yet and certainly they are not always available in some foreign countries. And anyone who has bought an eSim for abroad knows that the eSim set-up process is not always reliable (with no refunds), that it can involve 20 or 30 steps to set it up properly so no stick it in and off you go for tech-phobes, that support for eSims is non-existent if you have a problem and it is more expensive than picking up a physical Sim. Phones with the capability for 2 physical Sims plus eSims have got it right. That excludes Pixels. And seriously, a temp sensor on your phone is just EMBARRASSING!
It’s good to see the Pixel starting to gain back some ground. I’ll always be a Google Pixel fanboy. The Google Play Edition branding has been imprinted onto my soul ever since Touchwiz days. I need them to continue winning, if only to place them where I feel they should have always been.

I just got my pixel 8 pro in the mail yesterday. Switched from my Samsung s21 ultra. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this pixel. I don't think I'm ever going back to Samsung or Apple I love it so much
I’m an iPhone user and I don’t think that’ll ever change but I honestly kinda love the pixel camera bump design and I love that they’re really leaning into it year after year to make it a uniquely pixel design. I feel like Samsung mixes things up a little too much over the years with their design language but when you look at a pixel, most people are gonna be like yep, that’s definitely a pixel.

WoW thanks for a great review. I stick to my 7 pro for another year, but the 8 looks like an amazing improvement again . One point of criticism: I have my 7 pro 11 months now, after 6 months it seems to drain the battery faster and getting hotter while charging. But then after an update, I think in June/July, the battery life has improved soo much and it didn't get hot while charging....very weird, but I'm happy. The battery life has definitely improved soo much ! Thx.
Honestly absolutely excited to order my Pixel 8 - I've decided to go with the base model as I don't really have a use for the extra camera features (as nice as they are) and they get the same main sensor which is the only one I truly care about. I feel like more is riding on this promised 7 year software updates than other Google products. Like, the Pixel lineup will either make it or break it based off that promise. Not to mention possible lawsuits.
Don't have to fix an awful lot in post, the shutter speed is ridiculously fast on the 8 Pro and I always end up with an amazing photo, another plus is that I can check out the temps on my wife's iPhone 15 Pro max which is great fun.

Even as an iPhone user, from v1 I truly admire the Pixel and hope that it succeeds. It has amazing software and the hardware seems to be improving with every iteration. Go Pixel!
Great overview. My pixel 6 still has close to the original battery life after 2 years of use. I never used a fast or wireless charger and that should have helped with the longevity of the battery.
I've got a pixel 6 pro which had quite a rocky launch but here I am 2 years later and with all the software updates I don't feel like the phone has gotten old, new features all the time, impressive cameras and still runs anything I need and battery still lasts the whole day. I'm probably good for a couple more years and when I need to upgrade I'll most likely get another pixel as it has so many features that I won't be able to change to a different phone.
I love my pixel 6. Still hard to part ways with it... There a trade in offer right now to get the new pixel 8 for little to nothing. I'm seriously contemplating if just keeping the pixel 6. 😊

I have a Pixel 6 Pro and THOUGHT about upgrading due to battery life, then Google fixed it in post with the Android 14 update. My 6 Pro battery lasts a ton longer than it ever has! 😂 Somewhat aggravating that they could have already improved my battery life all this time, but now there isn't enough changes to justify an upgrade. I'm in the market for a small, powerful phone that has a lot of flexibility on the camera features. I'm absolutely gutted that Google decided to omit the pro camera features from the standard phone. Really nice to see you calling them out on this move!
Meh kinda, but what are you actually proposing then? It should have all the same software as the Pro? Obviously no-one would buy the Pro because what you're actually saying is the standard would become the Pro. So basically you're saying you want the Pro for $300 cheaper.. Unless I've misunderstood, please correct me
@@LukeFleggbasically, it’s the principle of software deliberately limiting hardware which is somewhat disconcerting - Google shouldn’t have to limit software on the base Pixel just to make the Pro seem better. Of course I understand why they do this, Apple’s been doing this for ages with the iPad Pro to prevent crossover with MacBooks but it just kind of sucks to see, you know?
@@LukeFlegg I hear you but I have the same problem, I dont want a massive phone. And it seems like the phone producers are treating the smaller phones like a cheap option. Which is not what im after, I want the best specs in a small format.

Did you do it? I’m thinking about the same thing, coming from a 14 Pro Max. I’ve been embedded in Apple (2nd Gen AirPods Pro’s, Apple Watch, etc) but I’m really liking the look of the specs on this phone, and honestly kind of miss Android but love how Apple operates so this is the only Android I’d consider at this point. But if you have it, do you miss your iPhone at all? The keyboard is not great all of a sudden for me. I swipe to text (because of my Android days) and it used to work but it suck’s now. Speak to text isn’t up to par with other phones. Maps still isn’t great. But I love the battery life and MagSafe is dope. It’s tough man lol
7 years of software updates does sound really great, my #1 concern however is in the durability of the phone. My personal experiences with the pixel 7 longevity have been really bad with the screen pretty much falling off the phone and that makes me quite concerned about the 8 as well. It is not a one time issue either as I have gotten a brand new pixel 7 multiple times through warranty and eventually switched off it now and got a samsung phone. From talking to third party repair shops it seems it is a common issue and they blame the way the phone is mounted, the glue used and the manufacturer that google has decided to use (at least the ones that come to norway). It really is unfortunate because almost everything else about pixel phones is incredible, but having the screen fall not even 2 months after I get a brand new one is really not pleasant and completely turns me off ever getting a pixel again unless I know that issue is fixed in a newer model.
I bet you could probably root the phone & someone will make a custom firmware which can be flashed to the pixel 8 that offers all the functions offered by the pro version plus a whole lot more super cool mods & customizations. I love google phones cuz they are always super easy to unlock bootloaders & there is always a ton of development for them & they they get all the new updates & features 1st, which makes sense considering that Android is also a google product.
I seriously love Android! They always innovate with every new device. If I had money II would 100% upgrade my Samsung s20. Not too into photos but the fact that you can do that is awesome.
Same here. I find it funny that of all things to change, they not only changed the location of the scanner (the back was way more convenient) but it's also waaay worse now and hasn't really improved. They gotta figure that out soon
FIx it in post strategy is actually genius on a phone because most people out there are not good photographers but then we have to ask - What exactly is a photo?
photographers have been asking this question since the dawn of photography. i did both my bachelor's and master's degrees in photography and almost every class we were tackling this question and reading tons of literature from artists, scientists, and philosophers on what a photograph is and what it means. this is nothing new
I always love to think about "what the reviews would say if Apple had come out with some of this photo stuff". Like the "fake" aspect of not, the easy and intelligent photo editing on Pixels is a HUGE selling point and incredibly impressive. I use it everyday all the time now.

Watch Mr. Mobile aka Michael Fisher. He has little pop-ups in his videos thst explain these types of things, and there is even a little sound to alert you in case you're not looking at the screen right then. For the record, nits is a measure of brightness. A 100-200 nits screen is pretty dim, but a 1000 nits screen is super bright. Perfect backup phone. Use it for a while, then when you are ready to move on just throw it in a drawer and use it as your backup...til 2030 lol. Amazing. I have had this phone for a few days and I am loving it. Came from s22 ultra.
Nice to see Marques calling out those artificial software locks on Pixel 8. I noticed them during the phone announcement straight away and was surprised when it wasn't covered on WVFRM podcast. Apparently was saved for review, which makes perfect sense. I really hope Google will make these features available to non Pro Pixel 8.
@@bengurwell1500 that's total horse crap, I agree. Many of their competitors already offer a full-fledged android desktop experience (Dex, Ready For). It's time for Google to step up in that regard, if they don't wanna make USB-HDMI functionality now, develop a freaking desktop mode, get it out of the door, and let people finally use their phones with external monitors. Would be real nice to retire old phones as a glorified android TV, maybe even emulate some games on it. You already have the hardware for it Google, enable the damn thing.
Been an iPhone user for 2 years , I left the pixel 6 pro because I couldn't stand the curve. Came back to the 8 pro and as I hoped , Google finally figured it out . This may be my favorite phone ever .. it gives me those nexus 5 warm feels all over again . Great review
I remember Google Photos had the best take feature way back in 2013 I think. I remember taking a photo of my family and it was like 5 different photos one after the other, NONE had all of them smiling or looking at the camera at the same time. Google created a new photo with all looking at the camera and smiling. It was perfect. Strange that now it’s a “new feature” that’s only on the Pixel 8 🤔
Just made it a little more accessible I guess. Sometimes they have to reinvent something that was really useful because people just didn't notice it was there for whatever reason.
It's a bit of a bummer that the Pro has so many exclusive features compared to the normal 8. Personally I'd love to get the regular 8 just because of the more compact size. And while the cameras are doing an amazing job, it bothers me a little bit that the output is only 12MP. Enough for most cases, but since my current phone with its 108MP sensor outputs 27MP images by default and even Apple is doing 24MP images out of a 48MP sensor 12MP seems a bit meh. Having the 50MP option helps a little on the Pro. Thanks for the review though, it answered a lot of my questions!
Well I think the Pro buyers would have the same issue if the regular 8 got all the same features. It's a Pro version for features and screen size, not an "8 Plus" for screen size alone.
Well that's why they've got the a series phones. I too would like a flagship compact size phone. The 8 doesn't feel like a flagship compared to the 8 pro, and at the price point of the 8, it doesn't really make any sense to buy.
Think of it this way, 12MP is literally ( in 3:4 ratio) still 3000x4000 pixels, nearly 1,5x 4k res, and if you aren't going to be using it for any pro stuff, it really won't matter, it might even be better, because the 12mp photos are also way better in terms of file size and do a really good job at file compression without loosing much detail. Damn the amount of times I haven't been able to upload any of my pics to a cloud, service, media or alike just because the filesize is a few MB too big, and so in those scenarios I would have to downscale the photo myself anyways. But of course I don't know your situation, I just know I can justify it to myself like this haha 😅
@@sebck5515 12MP isn't tiny by any means but it's also what most mid to high-end phones used 10 years ago. The actual quality of photos has obviously skyrocketed since those times, but for admiring your photos on a desktop 4K monitor and maybe zooming in for some detail, 12MP just doesn't look too fantastic. And if you want large A2-size posters of your photos, the 27MP I currently use just about cuts it. With 12MP however, you really start to see some graininess and lack of details when viewing up close. It's not obvious from a little distance, but still. I don't really care about the file size, price of storage is so cheap these days and it's only going to get cheaper as we move on. But yeah, I understand that this is mostly just me and 90% of people couldn't care less about the resolution of their photos as long as they look "okay". 😄
You can clearly see a difference of Marques's analysis style when it comes to an iPhone and a Pixel. iPhone is just about camera and asthetic and he knows it so he never gets too hard on an iPhone. But Pixel is mann, Google is obviously pushing their boundries here to surprise us. Love to see these type of videos on MKBHD.
You are the most popular tech reviewer for a good reason. This video should be studied by other reviewers as the golden standard. Fast, entertaining, every bit of info matters but is still easily digestible, you mentioned the things people find practically important while still also giving all the technical mumbojumbo. You highlight positives and negatives. Perfect.
I've had the Google Pixel 7pro for almost 8 months and it's the best phone I've ever had definitely looking forward to the pixel 9or10 won't upgrade for a while. I will say it is tempting to get the pixel 8pro but I'll hold the line!
I like mines too but my main gripe is when I'm out during the day and want to take videos I always get the video quality may be reduced due to temp or I can't take vids until my phone cools down and I miss the moment. Other than that I'm happy with mines
Would love if they brought back the backside fingerprint. On my 7P now and my auto brightness did its (dumb) thing right when you pointed out the 8's is behaving better 😅
I've been rocking the Pixel 6 ever since it came out. It's still working just as strong as when I got it but the 7 year promise + the phone, watch, and headphones are looking VERY tempting 😅
Exact same here! Not to mention they're offering 325$ worth of trade in credit for the pixel 6. Even though I'm sure this phone could last some more year if I wanted to hold out, the temptation to upgrade is strong at the moment!
I have yet to see someone mention one of the coolest features on the Pixel 8, that is the onboard AI wallpaper creator. Although somewhat limited at the moment, it nonetheless creates some amazingly beautiful wallpapers.
Man the pixel 8 deserves to have pro controls atleast. It's pretty scummy to soft lock software features to the pro version when we're paying such a premium for the standard pixel.
I love how we can choose our faces and choose the ones that look better. But, sometimes the photos where not all of us are looking straight at the camera looks more charming and natural than the option we get here. We're nearing more and more towards a generic uncanny valley look where everyone's always smiling, perfectly straight at the camera
It's fair criticism but I think it's an overreaction. As others said, it's entirely optional. I personally think it's great that people have that option. And folks who find the real ones more charming can continue on those.
I planned on upgrading from my 7 to the 8, but couldn't get myself to do it simply because fingerprint sensor was not upgraded, nor was face ID :( I'm praying that the Pixel 9 will get new screen unlock hardware, in which case I will happily upgrade at $1,000+!
Hopefully these nice software features trickle down to other tensor pixels because they really dont need g3 especially the ones that upload to the cloud.
Not necessarily. Some of the new machine learning and AI advancements are only possible with the tech of the latest processor. Im pretty sure they mentioned that the new model is some 'X' times amount better at machine learning and AI.
Yeah I am giving up my Iphone 15 for a PIxel. I only bought the Apple phone to message my grandmother on imessage. I had a pixel 4 and its so easy to use. In late 2024, I am buying my Pixel 8 Pro :)
I actually like that it has an infrared FPS scanner instead as they work better with a glass screen protector vs an ultrasonic FPS. For devices with an ultrasonic FPS you would need to use a UV applied glass screen protector for the FPS to work well. The only other thing you could do with an ultrasonic FPS would be to get a hybrid screen protector but those aren't full glass but instead more of a smooth plastic.
@@jerry-sb1238 ultrasonic FPS is overall better if you don't plan to use a screen protector. If you are using one then you would need a semi thin one so that any under display FPS will work better. In the case of the Pixel 8 Pro since it's a flat screen now we could use a regular glass screen protector so that means infrared FPS will work better overall vs an ultrasonic one.
ultrasonic fps had no option of screen protector when it launched with s10 and the scanner barely worked, that time mkbhd said it should have been optical fps
I just got my first Pixel last year with the 7 Pro. Very happy to see Google really seeming to take the lineup seriously. Looking forward to the future!
congrats u have less rounded corners better ppi and higher resolution than pixel 8 pro😅 the white model and the hazel model on pixel 7 pro makes it the best looking phone in the world
Get the 8 if you're upgrading from a really old phone, if you have the 7 or even 7 pro, stay there till the price drop on an 8 comes, the 8 pro isn't worth $1000 at all, the Ultra 24 will be.
I am blown away by my new blue pixel pro , don't care if it's software it just nails it build ,speakers ,pictures , everything is nailed and I I've owned every iPhone and loads of android's this is the best phone I've ever used
I agree so much with your complaint of missing features on the non pro models. I have had 3XL, 5, 6 pro and 7 pro. Loved the size of 5 but I want the extra features of the pro. Just make both the same and make the two different sizes, I'd pay extra for the 8 idc about the price. But again I'll be going for the Pro even though I would rather have the size of the 8...
Same. I want the smaller sized 8 but I also want all the features of the pro.. meh. I'd pay extra for a pro sized 8. Guess I'll go for the pro, the free pixel watch got me suckered
I actually prefer the optical fingerprint sensor. Tempered screen protectors work way better with them in my experience and both take less than a second to unlock, i don't wanna pay more for this hardly noticeable difference.
Still could've been cheaper without any big slow down in the unlocking process. And I have also a Samsung but the Ultra one and its tempered glass has a big visible circle right above the sensor for it to work. Looks ugly and isn't needed with optical sensors. So if you have the most expensive phone, you have to live with an ugly design if you want to protect it... kind of ironic. (I'm not sure if this circle is only needed on phones with rounded edges though because whith them, the protection usually touches the screen only around the basels so a circle around the sensor is needed)
@@Retronyx depends, you use your phone with your finger so putting one on the screen to remove the need to push the power button isn't all wrong, but I would also be ok with a scanner in my power button
I wish they would offer the same specs, same cameras, in 3 phone sizes: Mini, Regular, Large. And have a one-time "Pro" software unlock available for all of them.
Why would they produce a new phone size? Most people would be happy with the non pro version. The SW unlock could be bundled with Google One though as a subscription
That would make more sense, so you choose only the size and the power should be the same and you pay only for that, but give the opportunity to go at the maximum performance to everyone.
We really don't need that much option. "Pro" are here just to be visually different and to make people think they're getting a better phone. It won't make any sense for them to make them look the same.
@@AshLordCurryyip... They are underestimating ppl love of that implied higher status.. without having to say it.. looks dif so u can see it's a pro... Same with why iphone changes the colour or sum slight so u can see which is newer.
@@arturoescorcia Why? Because some people may care about usability more than anything else. These phones are large and extra large, they are instant pass for their size. I'd go for a 5-5.5 inch Pixel 8 "mini" in a heartbeat.

@@chandraabudiman I mean it's a 2 year old phone at this point so the battery life isn't going improve much however this phone's battery was exceptional on release and to me it still is, I can easily get a day and a half on a single charge. I've never actually paid attention to my screen on time but I've never had battery issues. As far as the update goes there's just been small improvements, nothing to gawk at or really even notice, if anything I'd say it's slightly more snappy.
Currently using the S22 Ultra. Thinking about switching to the Pixel 8 Pro. Or waiting to see what the S24 Ultra will be like. So far, the Pixel 8 is pretty impressive.
Ngl… I’m scared my whole life I’ve always had both Apple IPhones And Samsungs Note line then switched to the Fold.. I gave in and got my first Pixel phone so we’ll see how Google goes I guess!
I love the pixel series and I will probably get the 8 pro but my absolute favorite pixel has to be the 3, the finger print reader in the back was so fast and also had many other features that were so nice
I never had battery issues on my pixel. 2 years is the longest I've owned one. I have experienced battery drain from rogue apps. The Twitter issue you mentioned is on the developers of Twitter and optimization for tensor chips. Their displays have always been some of the latest that Samsung offered with different brightness settings than other manufacturers. Most flagships use the same displays manufactured by Sammy.
Same aside from just wishing it was a little better, but aside from the Red Magic insane 6000mah battery gaming phone I used as just a daily driver, every phone could use more.
You summed up my thoughts on this phone and Pixels in general. They are smart. This embodies what a smart phone should be (in my opinion). Coming from an iPhone 13 pro user. I wanna make the switch but im locked into the ecosystem (specifically the Apple Watch).
I just picked up a Pixel 7 last spring when they were discounted and I really like it, but the Pixel 8 looks like a real upgrade. I'll keep my eyes open next spring to see if it makes sense to swap out my 7 for an 8 at that time.
@@uio2299 Yes, I have the standard Pixel 7. The screen is plenty big enough for me - I wouldn't want a phone that was any larger, which is why I'm considering the Pixel 8.
I've been debating this for a while and curious what others are thinking. I'm a Pixel 7 pro user. Love this phone. Still works great. There is improvements, big in software, but I'm not sure if much more over the 7. Idk about upgrading from it
If you're not sure, then don't. That means you aren't blown away by the upgrades, and might regret it over time. Wait for the pixel 9 or even 10, the 7 will still be a good phone for some time.
I got the 7 pro! And im upgrading for two simple reasons, and they are pretty absurd to be honest, but for me the fact that they’re giving a pixel watch for free and the fact that it has a flat display ( that alone ) sold the phone for me! Hate to get install this crazy screen protectors on curve screens. The simplicity of getting a flat screen protector and be done with it is a big deal also de upgraded camera sensor on a already fantastic photo taker is a no brainer

I recall he gave a high recommendations for the Pixel 2XL. This gen's Pixel is looking good.
Exactly

Is this only Pixel 8 or older models as well?
Dude thats just android for you. My LG G2 did that 8 years ago already.
True that all androids do it but voice to text on pixels are way faster and more accurate.
Not to mention the ability to use the reader as a swipe function on the phone. So convenient when holding in one hand.
I agree I had the pixel 2 and I loved it so much and I switched from apple and have been loving the pixels.
I have an oppo that uses a rear finger print reader and it's actually amazing,
i missed the colored power button, but i guess metal rails kinda makes this an impossible task now.
i don't really missed the fingerprint reader at the back as it kinda ruins the aesthetic. but considering how many people are complaining about this optical sensor being so bad, they should consider going back to physical sensors but incorporate it onto the power button like many other phones are doing it. no shame in not having in screen fingerprint scanners.
Dont take 9, try to get till 10
For real, I usually break my phone in less than a year. I'm still rocking my Pixel 6 and it never had any huge bugs. When I had a Galaxy S2, that thing started to bug as soon as the S3 was announced.
The only really bad thing about it is the battery. Really doesn't seem to last for long enough.

Hmmmm Haven't had or even heard of this problem yet. Weird.
I'd never take the non-pro version because of the missing features, and I'd never take the pro version because of its size. What are they thinking?

I really hope they bring pro features like full 50mp over to my pixel 7 and other pixels.
Other than that I'm happy with mines
i trade in every year since the Pixel 3
I just bought my tech refurbished maybe I could trade it in but I don't like financing or contracts @@yankeesrule587
Would love if they brought back the backside fingerprint. On my 7P now and my auto brightness did its (dumb) thing right when you pointed out the 8's is behaving better 😅
I like my screens dim. I wish they'd add a hybrid brightness mode where the screen will automatically adjust but they let me define the light curve.
Just ordered mine and am very interested in this. What's the feature do?
The face correction in group photos is really dope. Glad to see the pixel keeps getting better.
Yeah, while it is something that never happened, it is what they were trying to get. Other than you can never again trust any picture you see.
Man the pixel 8 deserves to have pro controls atleast. It's pretty scummy to soft lock software features to the pro version when we're paying such a premium for the standard pixel.
When did $699 become premium (in the smartphone market)? Premium starts with the $1000+ phones now.
They already ported the APK for the 7 Pro so the community will take care of that. But I absolutely agree with you.
If you think that's insane, IIRC the iPhone 15 doesn't even have an always on display.
I love how we can choose our faces and choose the ones that look better. But, sometimes the photos where not all of us are looking straight at the camera looks more charming and natural than the option we get here. We're nearing more and more towards a generic uncanny valley look where everyone's always smiling, perfectly straight at the camera

It's optional
It's fair criticism but I think it's an overreaction. As others said, it's entirely optional. I personally think it's great that people have that option. And folks who find the real ones more charming can continue on those.
Calm down bruno, it's optional
I’ve been using iPhone in the past years but I’m thinking to go for the pixel 8. Would it be a good decision? Great review
Shiid same here lol
I pre-ordered on launch, I was due for an upgrade regardless. I am so happy it seems to be a good year for the Pixels
@@BrianGlazenothing can convince me that these tensors can do things the normal snapdragons can't except for possibly software support
I appreciate your comment. I had no idea why google would choose an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Your comment makes the choice very logical.
Wow didnt knew that either. I thought the ultrasonic FPS was better. But now IR seems better option
Looking forward to the future!
congrats u have less rounded corners better ppi and higher resolution than pixel 8 pro😅 the white model and the hazel model on pixel 7 pro makes it the best looking phone in the world
Wow, the edits are getting better not only in the pixel but also in Marques' videos.
Get the 8 if you're upgrading from a really old phone, if you have the 7 or even 7 pro, stay there till the price drop on an 8 comes, the 8 pro isn't worth $1000 at all, the Ultra 24 will be.
Pixel 8 pro raises the bar for Android flagships. Now, it will be very interesting to see what Samsung does with S24 Ultra.
Wdym? S23u is still the best
Great video as always!! I preordered the phone so I'm happy there's not too many negative points (so far).
finger cross,
Definitely looking forward to getting a Pixel 8 in my hands. The software magic is definitely where it’s at with a Google phone hands-down!

Just make both the same and make the two different sizes,
I'd pay extra for the 8 idc about the price. But again I'll be going for the Pro even though I would rather have the size of the 8...
Same. I want the smaller sized 8 but I also want all the features of the pro.. meh. I'd pay extra for a pro sized 8. Guess I'll go for the pro, the free pixel watch got me suckered
Now you know how iPhone users feel
I actually prefer the optical fingerprint sensor. Tempered screen protectors work way better with them in my experience and both take less than a second to unlock, i don't wanna pay more for this hardly noticeable difference.
Never had a problem even with cheap tempered glass on my standard S23
Still could've been cheaper without any big slow down in the unlocking process.
And I have also a Samsung but the Ultra one and its tempered glass has a big visible circle right above the sensor for it to work. Looks ugly and isn't needed with optical sensors. So if you have the most expensive phone, you have to live with an ugly design if you want to protect it... kind of ironic.
(I'm not sure if this circle is only needed on phones with rounded edges though because whith them, the protection usually touches the screen only around the basels so a circle around the sensor is needed)
Button scanner better lil bro
@@Retronyx depends, you use your phone with your finger so putting one on the screen to remove the need to push the power button isn't all wrong, but I would also be ok with a scanner in my power button
What's upsetting is that Google's trade in from the Pixel 7 Pro is horrible this year. I'll just wait for the Pixel 9 Pro before upgrading.
No, wait until the holidays. They tend to almost double it or the equivalent. Thats what i did the last 3 years
I wish they would offer the same specs, same cameras, in 3 phone sizes: Mini, Regular, Large.
Pixel 5a user here and I'll definitely be upgrading to the Pixel 8 soon especially since I just received the last software upgrade, I'm just waiting for a price decrease.
same for me except i’m a 4a user and didn’t even get A14
You updated to Adnroid 14? How many improvements does it give? Did it improve battery life?
Said the same thing 3 days ago and got the pixel 8 pro in my hands today 😂

I love the pixel series and I will probably get the 8 pro but my absolute favorite pixel has to be the 3, the finger print reader in the back was so fast and also had many other features that were so nice
Yes the Pixel 3 was my favorite, I gave it to my mom and was messing with it the other day and it’s still fast
Watching this on the 8 pro. So far so good. I was worried it'd be too big but seems ok so far
This is the review I've been waiting for 💪🏾💪🏾
I just picked up a Pixel 7 last spring when they were discounted and I really like it, but the Pixel 8 looks like a real upgrade. I'll keep my eyes open next spring to see if it makes sense to swap out my 7 for an 8 at that time.
Did you pick up pixel 7 with 6.3 inch ? I have ordered pixel 8 non pro version and afraid that 6.2 screen is small and this my first time trying pixel
I'm keeping my 7 pro.
@@larsisaksenI agree...I have the 7 pro and I'm gonna hold off until the 10 comes out.Its supposed to have a even better tensor chip
This phone has been advertised everywhere, so I decided to watch a review on it. MKBHD never fails 🔥
The Pro had my attention at flat screen. That was the only thing locking me to the base Pixel.
