360 is still very impressive. The jump from 360 to Xbox One is the most noticeable. The jump between Xbox One and Series X was less so. The frame rate was clearly better, but I found myself having to look very closely at textures to find a difference.
Where I've noticed the most was in distant scaling and sometimes it felt a bit more pleasant looking at the series X picture than the one.
Series x rivals most pc’s. I think that there is just less things the render and make better on GTA five. Its probably one of the worst games to do these comparisons on.

Back in the days when GTA V came out, I was a little 12 Year old boy with a little smartphone. And back then it was amazing. I almost couldn't differentiate between videos from real life and out of GTA on this small screen with approximately 720p (if it was even that good). I would watch gameplay all night and adore this masterpiece, and wish to grow up faster so I could play GTA 6 eventually. I was 13 when my mom would allowed me to play GTA5 under her supervision on the Xbox 360 I got as birthday present. And it was one of the most (not the best ever, but pretty high up there) amazing experiences I had while playing a game to this day. When next gen came along, I was eager to save enough money to buy a next gen console and GTA once again, besides Forza. As car enthusiast that was THE other game for me to play. And when I was finally able to get one in a sale, I was so happy and felt just as excited as the first time I played GTA.
Now we have the newest gen. And I am 20 Years old. I really don't mind the graphics that much anymore. If a game has nice graphics, I like that as much as when it has good atmosphere, a good story to tell or if it is just simply entertaining. GTA doesn't do anything of that anymore. The Story is the same as in the 8 year old game, with no real additional content, the graphics doesn't look that much better than on the "Xbox", and of course it doesn't deliver a new atmosphere. So I won't buy the Expanded and enhanced. I will stay away from Rockstar, until they deliver a new game. Hopefully a game, that is as groundbreaking and as catching as GTA V once was.
100% agree
In fact, i've moved to Battlefield saga, now i barely play gta 5 anymore
Couldn't have said it better. Back when GTA 5 came out, I would always watch it on UA-cam, I watched channels like Redkeymon. Also, occasionally I played it on my friend's Xbox 360. And now I have a powerful PC, but no game has ever brought me an experience comparable to that. I still have high hopes for GTA 6 though, but we can just wait and see
Wow I was 12 back then, now 20, and am a car enthusiast aswell haha

I agree 👍🏻 they even added in da club on West Coast classics 😎
The old gen versions' color palette and the atmosphere is like the original painting done by the artist. What came after looks like the young generations' iterations of the original old art.
The same goes to GTA San Andreas on PS2 and every other plataform that the game came out after until now with the trilogy or the 10th glitch anniversary version
For real. I still think the Xbox 360 / PS3 version is hands-down the best. It looks not only nostalgic, but correct. The lack of fog and lack of tint.. It's almost like it was made for that generation and we should've had a new game to replace it by now.
@@Britt4ny Yea i totally agree. But this is for most games.. if i play Gran Turismo 2 on my PS1 it looks just different than with emulator on PC. And even if i convert to SCART or component cable and stick it in an old big TV without a flat pannel
@@stevenbohlen347 What emulator do you use? DuckStation feels the best to me.
I noticed that as well.. The lighting in the Xbox One gen release did wash out a lot of the original games lighting choices and colours.. But that actually seems to have returned with the new RT.. The oranges to the sun are back.

The 4 differences I can see between Xbox one and Xbox X:
1. The textures look slightly crisper with more detail, although it being showed through UA-cam compression I can’t say for certain
2. The volumetrics have been toned down to be between the first and second version of the game.
3. Particle effects like water splashing and explosions look way nicer and more detailed.
4. The frame rate is better, but it’s a game from 2 console generations back being remade so I can’t give Rockstar much credit for this…
My only wish for the enhanced edition was for them to make the online more like the single player with animals and more dynamic NPC encounters such as traffic jams. Originally the case was that the hardware was simply not there for that, but now there is no excuse. It might have also been the perfect draw for new people instead of slightly improved upon graphics.
Explosions are 2D on the XSX, and they look like an embarrassment compared to XB1/PS4.
@@tylerdoestech4299 you are blind. The XSX explosion are much more realistic.
Compared to story online feels pretty dead. Definitely something they need to fix. The hardware is for sure there so I can’t see why they wont.
I bought it for Xbox 360, Xbox one and pc. Now i have to pay another 60 Bucks to geht the Series x Version. 🤔
@@samuelkaufmann358 wut???it's like 20$.literally always.
There’s a limitation here. The 360 pushed to its limit, and the Series X pushed to what it can do with what little it can. RDR2 outshines this and proves the hardware this is built for is the outlier. If this was built from the ground up again that’s one thing. The most impressive thing about this isn’t what the next gen cleaned up, but what 2 generations ago could do. You have to hope that if the real Rickstar is still alive that the next mainline title will be the benchmark for the next decade
Heh, rickstar
Rickstar
the series x is miles more powerful than the ps5, (i know you never siad it was not) its just rockstar making a decent port and not really adding anything. look at halo infinife, cyberpunk, rdr2 like you said. its crazy, the series x and s can do 8k 120 FPS, that is not weak
@@SeanRileyTalksMovies it’s not really miles more powerful, it’s got slightly better specs than the PS5, but you really won’t notice that half the time.

the jump from Xbox 360 to Xbox one was very noticeable and impressive. From Xbox one to series x, not so much. It feels like they just made things a little brighter and a tad bit clearer that’s it. Great video though 🙌🏻
That's why is so disappointing, when i first saw the Xbox one/PS4 trailer it blew me away, since Rdr2 i did not feel the same way with any other game
Honestly gta 5 next gen is really only suppose to be better color.. smooth frame rates. The game came in 2013 there’s no point of reworking the whole game and giving it a full next gen feel. Honeslty even the developers said “games can only look so good, in the next generation we’ll stop focusing on making games look better, and work on different designs”
It is a huge differents. 60fps, 4K resolutions take away a lot, no more room for ultra graphics. That’s pretty mutch the case in every next gen game currently. It’s the jump towards 4K res and 60-120 fps
4:30 idk why but I like the 360 version more
Probably has better shades, looks less like permanent fog and more like actual shadows.
@@gustasborusas6355 Yeah the fog made it look old

The 360s fps in gta is horrible, like it's 20 fps or something
Why is the contrast so much better on the 360, compared to the washed out XB1 and Series X? It's like there's a haze filter over them
Yeah, that's what I'm wondering, did he screw up the brightness or what??
Oh man that soundtrack is a pure nostalgia throwback to some of the GTA V trailers and pause menu music😎
But yeah a very nice overall comparison there, between the general gameplay differences and certainly appreciate you trying your best to line up each of the scene shots too!👍👏
Best comparison video out 👏 I’m glad you took it all the way back to 360 because people forgot where it started from or how it looked. Running it in 4K or 60 fps is a huge step. I remember those 360 days when online had less content than story mode 🤣 gta 6 would be nice too but i honestly think that would last 10 years as well.
It's amazing how well the 360 graphics have held up. You can see the leap from 360 to xbox 1, not so much from xbox 1 to series x, but it is noticable.
its the fps that is the big change
When I play on my series x I can’t really tell a difference besides the game running a bit smoother
Look closely at the grass. All 3 had the poorly detailed grass. They just added a new weeds texture on top of the 360 textures for x-one. Lol lazy AF. 3:50

The best GTA comparison video I have ever seen, but it also really made me take a look back in time to when the game released. I know that it is weird, but I was only about 4 or 5 when GTA V came released, only my dad would let me play it, and I still remember(or at least I think I do) the first thing I saw when I came into the room and saw GTA V on the TV, franklin's car parked in an alleyway. Before I saw that I had just been playing GTA san andreas, well, not really "playing" because I was still 3, I would watch and sometimes get on the controller. GTA V is truly a masterpiece, especially when it came out. And I thank you InControlAgain, for bringing these memories back.

Its amazing the difference in terms of picture quality from a decade ago, the clean anti-aliasing alone makes a massive difference. I love going back to old games on the Xbox 360 and just respecting what was possible on a machine built before the 2010s, even Skyrim on the Xbox 360 is pretty incredible given the tech.

I wonder what the resolution difference is between "performance" and "performance RT". if the "performance" mode has a slightly higher resolution than the "performance RT" mode then that might actually be the best way to go considering the only thing benefiting from the ray tracing in the "performance RT" mode are the shadows, not reflections which is a bummer, therefor its not really worth the trade off since you barely notice RT shadows unless you're looking down at your characters own shadow. so if the "performance" mode has a slight advantage over "performance RT" mode in any way other than the Ray tracing, ill definitely start to strictly use the normal "Performance" mode from here on. but so far I haven't got a clear answer on that
4 things I've noticed that had the biggest improvements. Lighting, Reflections, more foliage, and Rock Textures on the mountains.

That sort of haze and muted color pallet on the Xbox One and Series X version really shows in this comparison. The 360 version was so vibrant and probably why it felt so lifelike to me on release back when I was a 13 year old kid playing it on midnight launch.

I actually prefer the color palette on Xbox 360 much more with the best example being the helicopter flying through the valley at 4:23
I feel the same way and surprised not many others talking about it. It’s pretty obvious the color is better on the 360 and also the higher frame rate on xbone and series x looks worse too, tacky and fake.

I agree with you. I really miss the PS3/360 version because it reminds me of 2013, but the best version and the one that gave "life" to GTA V was the one for PS4/One and shortly after PC. I recently got the PS5, but I'm still of the opinion that the Series X/PS5 version isn't much use because it doesn't really add anything. What GTA V had to give has already given and I would never buy GTA V on PS5, because I would only benefit from a bit of graphics and effects which maybe the PS4 doesn't have, but in essence it's really useless... It's just a waste of money in my opinion.

It’s pretty crazy that I got to play the game in all of the graphics. I was 8 when the game came out and played it on the 360 with my big brother who bought it as soon as it was released. Then we got the Xbox one console when i was 9 and my brother got the game again for that version which i still have today. The lighting effects of the RAGE engine are a bit low on First Gen. Maybe that's why.
