Grand Theft Auto V for PC offers players the option to explore the award-winning world of Los Santos and Blaine County in resolutions of up to 4k and beyond, as well as the chance to experience the game running at 60 frames per second.
What surprises me the most is how decent PS3 looks. Crazy how they were able to make that work on a 2006 console.
Bruh i thought the same lmao, it looks so good for such an old hardware
i have xbox360 version and I play it on CRT TV (i also have ps4 version and pc), and it is more than fine - apart from lack of first person mode it's pretty much just as good. Framerate can be slightly worse but not to a point when it's a problem. And i actually like couple of old gen features - it doesn't have that strange blue tint, so things look cleaner and more colorful, i really don't like how ps4 version cars paint looks, city lights from far away have that awesome "lens" thing going on. But the game maintan detailed geometry and complex ligthing so flying to a port, on a stormy evening is still stunning. And last thing - for some reason i prefer old gen water - there are many more patches of white "foam" - and that was the nicest effect that they made for water (on next gen they toned it down quite a bit and new water wasn't as pleasing to look at)
2005*
@Rigers they had the time to do it you know and they most certainly had made enough money to divert enough funds to do the upgrade but they're cheap sakes bastards, for crying out loud the total amount of money they made from Grand theft Auto v is 17 billion dollars and $6 billion dollars was the actual game sales the rest was a microtransactions.
What are you talkin about LOL it looks and plays horrible and I could fly to Russia and back in the time it takes to load
I’ve seen many Ray Traced Games and I can tell this GTA V “Expanded and Enhanced” is not one of them
I've seen many remasters and I can also say GTA E&E is not one
it's a port with fancier explosions
You know whats funny? The whole "Expanded and Enhanced" thing was removed. Seriously, go check the game and any Newswire post. That title got scrubbed last second and I'm surprised no one is really talking about it
Imagine advertising a game as an improved version and then backing out on that last second
@@zekeiwa5837 They missed a spot: Social Club uses Expanded and Enhanced as the name of the update the new vehicles belong to.
I think they added raytraced shadows, but they’re really subtle - great job Rockstar (that’s probably what took them one and a half years to figure out)
I don't think Rockstar's RAGE supports ray tracing. And even if they added ray tracing support to the RAGE, they would have to port GTA V from 0 which not only would be extremely time consuming but it would lead to lots of errors and bugs. I think if you don't have a 4k capable PC or if you, for some weird reason are like the 0.00001% of people who haven't played gta v then the new port is perfect. But if you have played it then its whatever. I just think is not worth buying if they aren't adding any new easter eggs.

4:02 "There's no way the distance scaling on PS5 is that poor. Literally the same as PS4 but just a higher resolution. Maybe it's a bug and Rockstar will patch it in a future update."
60*
Seamless character switching is broken.
They could’ve given this upgrade for free. RDR 2 Is the game which requires an actual next gen upgrade.
60fps on console would be awesome. One x version is already 4k native
But considering the differences between gtav on ps4 and rdr2. Rdr2 has the better graphically presentation yes rdr2 can do better but with the seemingly small changes. Rdr2 can't get much better. To me only now rdr2 and gtav ps5 version are slightly comparable. Rdr2 is not still more pleasing graphically in my opinion.
They shouldn't sell it, though. The only real upgrades RDR2 could receive that would make a noticeable difference is native 4k and 60 FPS, and maybe the ultra PC lighting.
What's funny is that l don't think PS5 can actually run RDR2 better enough so that it is actually visible or worth the next-gen upgrade title. Think about it, they could probably make it run at consistent 60fps but with PS4 visuals, maybe just maybe they could probably go for a better draw distance and maybe denser population, but that's a big maybe. PCs which can max out RDR2 and make it look incredible, have hardware that is way above what PS5 has. And since PS5 is all about 4K and raytracing and stuff, there is no way in hell they can make it run at 4K 60FPS with better visuals, it's just not happening. So my best guess is this, for now Rockstar won't make PS5 version of RDR2, but, if we ever see RDR3 on PS5, before they release it, they will make a PS5 version of RDR2 which will have some basic upgrades, just like what they did with PS5 version of GTA5.
Gotta say, PS3/X360 version is a technical masterpiece.
Yeah ok.. if you like playing a game that looks like its made of legos. Ill stick with my PC version that looks closer to a more modern sharper much higher resolution game that play 100+ fps, and load times that don't take 5 min

Alright boiis, here's the rundown. New gen offers the following:
- Better graphics (basically PC but the draw distance is a bit off)
- Better fps.
- ray tracing, I guess?
- starting the game/changing to online takes about 30 secs
That's it.
Also, character switching time is about the same than last gen lmao
PS5 is basically the PC version with at least half the framerate, lower resolution, lower draw distance. That's if you want about the same quality
that seamless character switching tho, not even a second faster than ps4 😂
Ah, let's not forget that the other difference is about 20 bucks.
This channel puts in more for work Rockstars Games than Rockstar themselves.
Been watching your content since GTA V was announced in 2011 and just starting 7th grade. Watched every screenshot and trailer breakdown as soon as they posted.
Fast forward 11 years later; I just graduated college last year and I’m still watching GTA V videos on your channel. A lot has changed between now and then, but one thing that’s remained consistent is the quality of your content. Thanks for all you do!
That’s loyalty at its finest
The "seamless charater switching" is not so seamless in PS5, well i think
3:56 why draw distance looks awful in PS5
PS5 it seems has an excess of motion blur
This is the worst implementation of ray-tracing I've ever seen. Reflections aren't better at all.
Do any of you guys know what the background song is? I have tried to look for it and couldn't find it.
More effort was put into this video than was put into GTA 5 E&E

Actually nvm i see the difference bc i wasnt on a high enough quality
Still not that much
You mean 3 months for free
@@TAMPIM no it’s permanent if you get it in the 3 months its on the rockstar website
I noticed that they used a lot of motion blur on the new console and there are a few changes like the fire effect at 4:08 and some shading qualities but everything else seems to be the same. Also I play on PC
The fire effects kinda reminds me of rdr2 campfires.
If you're on PC with a medium-high spec PC, these visual differences compared to PC are minimal and your game will look the same or better pretty much depending on your resolution. Guaranteed to run better though if you're not at 4k, since resolution isn't everything. The new generation is still making some concessions like with the LOD of certain objects, you can see it in the way the roofs appear, so it's not like the game is running maxed on console.
There are a few new things on the new ports that I saw. Smoke effects and fire effects are different, they 'flow' a bit more realistically, but upon closer examination it seems to be a sprite that follows your camera angle, so there is an illusion of depth to them you can notice. Either way, something you'll probably notice once then quickly forget. I didn't see what ray tracing affects yet though.
The loading time comparison is weird, I think what really saves time on the newest generation is it skips the splash screen Rockstar's games usually have, and that's a significant chunk of time, we're talking roughly 30 seconds of unskippable time regardless of your drive. I'm not convinced the splash screen time has the game actually loading at that time, and I'm pretty sure there are mods that actually skip it. Loading times on PC would probably be just as fast as the newest port if it was something that was skipped like it is on the new port, assuming an SSD anyway.
I think the new generation of consoles brought the load times closer to the PC, if not basically the same. Honestly, it's not as bad as people made it out to be in the past. I play some games in my old PS3 and it doesn't have an SSD and she runs pretty fast if you asked me, with loading times of just about 20 or 30 seconds at most. It's just our society has an attention span of a goldfish and everything has to be instant. I'm one to blame because I love some fast loading times
This is a lot of coping lol
Yeah, in fact the draw distances on ps5 barely changed, looks like the ps4 version
Lmao take the L, PS5/XSX is now better than PC.
@@ahrlj24 it is not and never will be. Console hardware is based on current PC specs. At most they would be equivalent for a while but pc always receives new hardware faster than consoles are developed. Even if the PS5 has power equivalent of a 3070/3080 and a good cpu, next year a new generation of gpus will be better than the current gen of gpus is. That's just how it is and it never takes away the capabilities of consoles just because PCs can reach higher specs
How about that seamless character switching am I right?
Incredible editing, but imo they all look nearly identical (except for the PS3)
3:20 that's what I was looking into. Best comparison! I just wanna know if in Performance mode still have the shadows

I think the loading times on PC are very varied. Could you post the specs of the PC used in this comparison?
Yeah no way those loading times are on a decent SSD but more on a shitty old HDD. My game loads in 20-30 seconds on a M.2 Samsung Evo.
I mean, just look at how nicely it runs on ultra settings for the comparisons... that should tell you everything you need to know right there.
@@Quyzbuk86 I specifically meant about the load times. But I still would like to know everything just for clarity.
@@novesori1474 Yep I think the same, no way his game is on an SSD.
I can usually load from the start menu to single player on PC with NVME in about 20-30 seconds, never truly timed it. I have a feeling though a lot of it is fluff or poor optimization in the start up. Character switching is nearly instantaneous, just as long as it takes the animation to occur. I remember playing it back in the day on PS3, and the initial load could be up to two minutes, and character switching could take around 45 seconds or longer.
To be honest, Ps5 and Pc has no difference. I play it on Pc Max settings, and gotta admit, the Ps3 graphics are not bad either. Good old times.
Can we all just appreciate the amount of effort that was put into this video, just like the old ones? :)
Me watching on 480p trying to see the differences 🤡
I'm kinda skeptical with the RT feature in the E&E but now i see it, but with very specific circumstances like headlamp shadow, and daylight shadow, the rest is really unnoticable.
The only improvements I saw over pc were poly counts for interiors of cars and everything else was unnoticeable to me. I've modded my now anyways and the the consoles don't even come close to how fantastic it looks on pc. I only with rockstar would actually do any update for pc instead of backing out because of the talent of modders.
Seamless character switching? Even the PS3 happens practically just as fast.

That's caused by Depth of Field, which is also on PC, but it was disabled here.
I think you can disable it in E&E. Not sure, though.
This is by far the best comparison video i've seen of gta 5 across platforms. The differences are really highlighted a lot more than other videos, and the pacing is perfect. This allows me to see the improvements on ps5 that other comparison videos failed to capture. Saying that this game is only really worth buying on the current sale. there's no justification of this over the ps4 version at full price. The difference between the ps3 and ps4 versions were like different games entirely. The ps5 version is such a minor bump that it barely justifies a price.
The fire animation on the PS5 was the best, along with the dense smoke, and more sparks flying off. Plus PS3 still looks amazing for its time.
It may look best from a stationary angle, but it does make it painfully obvious that it's just a 2D image when you start walking around said fire.
Shame on Rockstar
Love this channel, even GTA V will release in PS8, they still doing comparison
so you're telling me the more "Expanded and Enhanced" version of gta 5 is just gta 5 on max settings on pc?
Not even that, pc still looking sharper and has better draw distance. Also the "ray tracing" in the ps5 version is a joke so I actually prefer the pc ultra shadow settings
PC version best
As expected this game is showing it's age on new consoles and high end PC's. Regardless on how good it looks on PS5... deep down it just doesn't feel right anymore. It honestly feels like the definitive edition of san andreas.
I know the FPS is severly poor on PS4 version but it aint worth a console upgrade just for this old game.
Nice pc 4k win
Of course it looks the same, you're playing the PS4 version on the PS5! Now let's compare it to the real PS5... Oh wait...
I would rather spend my $10 on a combo at McDonald's
You don't have to look for anything, look at the textures it will become clear that the PlayStation is far from the PC. And if games were made specifically for the PC, then in general the consoles would be smoked aside. PS5 is essentially a small, weak but well-optimized computer for games.
The differences between PC and PS5 graphically that I notice are that the PC has better LODs that are farther away, and then the PS5 has ray-traced shadows (correct me if I’m wrong) and bigger, brighter explosions. Also some minor DOF effects.
It does, but only for sun shadows. There is a difference, but it's pretty negligible, and you most likely wouldn't notice it at all in actual gameplay. PC's NVIDIA PCSS soft shadows still look amazing.
1:45 Me comparing PC to PS5 versions
It looks even better on PC sometimes! So what has actually been “Expanded and Enhanced" here?
Only reason why I kept my PS3 slim is for my old games not on PS4/PS5 and cause i installed an SSD for it years ago so i do get the seamless character switching, overall stable framerates and faster loading times then PS4 it's fuckin unreal 😂😂
Aside from higher DOF samples and foliage, i'm struggling to see anything new here. That raytracing feature must either be broken, or only doing like, 1 bounce, cause where is it?
New foliage will probably get patched into the pc version with the next content update is my guess.
Edit: Also can we see the specs of the PC? I don't think it is suppose to lose the "PS5 running PS4 version" loading test.
I love how the PC version was released in 2015 and this PS5 "Expanded & Enhanced" is still worse in 2022, what would be a true GTA 5 E&E on PC ? Glad to be a PC gamer since 2014.
There's no lie that Rockstar has a lot of talent from individual employees, just a bummer that their skills are used to make the same old thing look nicer, or that the content they make is distributed the way corporate wants them to.
So they practically lied about everything and false advertised it lol if they don’t get sued by this then they’re just gonna keep redoing this. This is insane
They made the loading faster on the PS5 version just by removing the Rockstar logo splash screen
If anything, this just proves the awful trend that has plagued consoles for a while now: Everything in a 10m radius around you looks amazing, but beyond that is N64. (looking at you, 4:00 mark)
I remember when I believed the enhanced PS5 version would be enhanced.
We all went through it
The fact that it's called "Expanded and Enhanced" for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, when there was no ray tracing. Rockstar is lying, and what they pointed out is misleading.
The only advantage the “new” version has is the improved particle effects, everything else is either on par or worse than what PC can offer, mostly worse… definitely disappointing. 😕
It’s better in quite of few ways except draw distance
@@KudosMSGP It really isn't. The PS5 version looked like someone turned up the blue slider. At close range it's what Phoenix said, but at long range it's way closer to PS4 or worse because of DOF and motion blur.
@@Slimmeyy Ptff yeah whatever you say
