Just bought a backup camera for my 2011 Camry a week ago and have a heck of a time trying to figure it out, I’ve been back and forth on UA-cam and I’m very glad I came across this video. It’s helped me immensely and it’s much appreciated!
It’s not necessary to drill. You can run the camera wire through one of the clip holes when you remove the piece that has the Toyota emblem. There is two. One in the middle and one on the drivers side. I used the one on the driver side you can see him grab it here 1:59
Omg i did everything so thank you except when wiring into the backup lights the wires were crossed i didnt catch it cuz my multimeter was saying -12 and i didnt pay attention to the negative haha i got it now gonna finish this up ! Thank you tho watching this inspired me that i could do this on my own and im halfway done now !
Thanks so much this helped me really well installing back up camera, instead of soldering the cable what I did is splice the wire long, put it in the bulb socket and put the bulb on top of it and it works😁 Also I didn't drill the hole, just loosen taillight bulb, feed the wire and close it back in.
everything else done except 2 hours pushing dang emblem and still can't get it off...ready to either rip it, melt it, or take 1' drill bit to it....why do no videos explain how to get it off?
Emblem? Is it in the way or ? I'm getting my camera delivered today I plan on doing this but I guess I need to check it out did you get it? What did you do please
@owenjackson877 I got my camera installed, the clip is like everything else in the care basically have to kind of pinch it the right way and it comes out, it was funny I bought the camera he recommended and cross the wires so I thought they sent me a defective one but the multimeter had a negative sign on it haha bought a different camera it's better anyways but got it done. All I have to do is tune my amp then start on dsp
Subscribed! Great video! I'm about to install a camera in to a Toyota so very helpful. Just one question, I note that you connected the camera earth to the reverse light earth which makes sense. The instructions for my camera state to earth the camera to the car's body and not to the reverse light earth. What's the difference?
There isn't any, and they just state that because some vehicles would have a switchable ground vs a constant ground depending on the year make and model. Some reverse lights and vehicles have variable voltage. For this Camry, doing what we did will be just fine.
I have been look all over UA-cam on how to remove that same plastic piece without breaking it and have yet to find anything showing it. I ended up breaking it to get that piece off, not sure how I am going to secure it in place now. Wished there was more details on how to do it without breaking it.😢
So on my boss radio wiring harness , I have a lime green reverse wire , have a reverse output wire , and a reverse input wire. Kinda confused on what to wire and where to wire .
Ground your parking brake wire, reverse in is your trigger wire that needs to be connected to the reverse light positive wire, and reverse camera power output is optional to power the camera at the radio.
Hey brother, really need ur help…2011 Camry with kenwood DMX4707s and kenwood Cmos 230, i followed the directions and tied the hot into the acc wire and grounded to the chasis, i then ran a 18g wire from the backup lamps to the purple and white wire wire hanging off the top right corner of the HU. I can manually select the camera and it works but will not activate when the car is placed in reverse, is this setup wrong or should i just go with a different cam, thanks
Hey man, appreciate the response…found out the problem, grabbed a multimeter and inserted into the backup lamp bulb socket and the polarity? was backwards…not sure why but instead of tapping the hot into the red/black i had to tap into the white/black
Either the camera is not getting power, bad camera, or a cable isn't connected correctly somewhere. Check your connections, check, to make sure you plugged the camera into the correct port on the radio.
I don't get any signal when in reverse. I've connected the red wire at the head unit to where it says reverse cam input but on the rear trunk end I'm not sure where to connect the other red wire to as the Amazon cam i have comes with instructions that are useless. The rear cam is connected to the + and - of the reverse lights but the rear rca red wire is still not connected. Do i connect to the reverse + trigger as well or?? I mean the head unit needs a trigger to switch it to reverse cam so it has to go somewhere. It's a 2007 toyota camry by the way, thanks!
I went to lowes I picked up about 3 different ones to see what would work . Everything looked good but I can't get a picture. Man this would be my luck
Parts used linked in the description of the video!

Does it work as the original? So it turns on only when in reverse?
@@Unlimited0XThat's all car cameras I thought🤔

I referenced your video numerous times on my install, I used posi taps for the break light, those were super helpful
by far one of the nicest installations given how accessible those tail lights are
I think there should be a better view and step by step process on the drilling of the hole and putting grommet
Yeah, couldn't see exactly where they drilled or what the camera looked like after installation.
Crutchfield should pay you a fee....... Really well done video on the camera install, as well as the radio video. Saving me numerous hours. Thank you!

U made it look too easy. Great work. And thanks for sharing.
Man that is clean and looks very oem. Nice work!
Amazing. Used your videos to install my radio and rear camera

At the same fu**king problem, none of these morons tried to explain how they did it.
Emblem? Is it in the way or ? I'm getting my camera delivered today I plan on doing this but I guess I need to check it out did you get it? What did you do please
It’s not the emblem but the clip that holds it together. I just ended up breaking it off lol

what camera did you buy?
What did they use to clean the inside of the that car?! Mine is terrible 🤦🏾♂️
I can't figure out how to get the big center clip behind the emblem to release. You didn't show this detail.
Same issue
Anybody get this piece of trash off yet?
Same annoying issue
Staring at this rn someone help!!

That rear panel with logo is hard to remove I can't get white plastic tab lose!
The exact same problems, I wish they were clear about that
@anilvadathya1681 what did you end doing?
Can you provide the part number for the grommet you used? Thank you.
Does this also act like dash cam recording?
No, there is no recording capabilities on this unit.
I need this now…
Yes you do. We linked everything in the description of the video
Hi, can you include the grommet you used after you drilled the hole? It is not included in the parts list in the description. T.I.A.

I have a 2009 Toyota Camry and we've tried to radios now and none of them. Please help us. :-)
How big of a hole do we have to drill to get the wire from camera through it? What did you use to cover it up?
grommet

@@jakeperez1871there’s like a white Clip on the left to pick thru but he doesn’t explain any of that
what was the crux black box behind the radio

About how much was all of this? I have a 2010 Camry and would like to get this done.
All linked in the description of the video. Labor varies depending on the shop you choose (unless you do it yourself)

Where do I get a grommet?

Don’t see the links to the product
Have you installed the amplifier yet? Waiting for that video if you still plan on uploading it.
Video will drop in a few days! All edited.
thank you for owning a camry hahaha
Not my personal vehicle.
Where do you put the camara. You didn’t show on the video
License plate camera, uses the studs on the plate. Linked in the description!
Anyone know why my ground wire connected to the tail light burned?
