Capt Ds is slower cause they cook to order. Not the fastest at times but tastes so good

I work at Captain D’s. I wish they would advertise us like they do Dairy Queen.. “not fast food, it’s fan food” we do run out of fish often and it takes about 6 mins to cook fish. We dip the fish in batter then drop it in the fryer. We have to fry stuff pretty often. And we also don’t waste food.
I keep saying the same thing about how small the fish has gotten there over the years. Lol...it's like no one remembers. Great review.

Long John Silvers is horrible. It taste like fish sticks.
We used to have a Capt D's here in my town many many years ago. Now we just have LJS. Those skinnier fish fingers look GREAT to me- easier to dip into the tartar sauce plus more crunchy breading per bite! We used to go to LJS quite often but rarely go anymore since it's just so darn greasy. We used to ask for extra crunchies, too. I love to put malt vinegar AND tartar sauce on my fish. Hush puppies? Dip in melted butter. We also loved the chicken planks from LJS. Wow now I have a craving for it LOL!
They sent me some Captain D's coupon in the mail that's what I usually get is the 4pc Fish with Double Rice and Breadstick with a side of Green Beans with a 4oz Tarter Sauce since the little Tarter cups aren't enough that's why you have to ask for the 4oz cause it's free and cost effective .. nice review I also worked there for many years like 8 years in my teenage years

Captain D's is my #1 favorite place to eat fish!
Better than Long John Silver's, in my opinion!
Long John's makes their fish too greasy, but I do eat there sometimes, because unfortunately we don't have a Captain D's nearby.
I choose Captain D's more often than Golden Corral when I go out of town for my doctor appointments!

Thinking about captain d fish
I miss Artur Treacher's Fish & Chips-that was my favorite fish place to go. I'm also not fond of really "fishy" tasting fish-prefer like a whitefish flavor or like the Filet O Fish from McDonald's. I love batter fried fish though-think I'm going to pick up some of the Gorton's fillets tomorrow. Thanks Kevin.
I don't know if this will help but Arthur Treacher's still to my knowledge has 7 locations open. 3 in NY and 4 in Ohio. They still exist.
I haven't been here since I was a kid. I might revisit soon.
Their coleslaw, fries, sweet tea, and batter dipped fish are so damn good.
Judging by my experience with Captain D's, and from watching your video, it seems as though interrupting the customer in order to ask what two sides we want is part of the job.

Captain D's is where I go to satisfy my craving for fish and chips. Excellent taste and very inexpensive. Highly recommended.
It’s a little expensive, it’s definitely not McDonald’s level prices.
The fish is skinnier, because they changed from using thawed Pollock to using a frozen filet that is lightly dusted with flour.
It goes straight from freezer, into batter, and then into the frier.
The frozen is so much easier on the employees. The one system of thawing and then cooking was a long process and there's nothing else than pulling a wrack of thawed fish down and accidentally getting soaked in fish juice. 🤢
I'm sure no one cares, but figured I'd throw that out there. Lol.
They might have changed their flavor a little bit and I even said they fish fillets are skinnier trust me ever since covid to me the restaurant food hasn't been the same especially Captain Ds you know they were much better than that in the 80s-90s so I'm thinking if Captain Ds doesn't bring back their real flavor that I would be Captain D-one!!!
That is exactly why I stopped going to Captain Ds. They are cutting cost so they cut portions of the food substantially over the years.
The cost of seafood keeps going up insanely high compared to beef, pork, or chicken. I remember in college in the mid to late 2000’s, we’d order for a bunch of us and get a 12 piece family meal for like $15-16 bucks.
I got it the other day for my family and it was $40.

I haven’t had captain d’s since I was a kid, but I remember it being the best tasting fish I’ve ever had. And if this guy is saying the batter is just plain ol batter then this can’t be the captain d’s I remember. They were like the kfc of the fish world. Their fish batter was the shit.
Is it even better than Long John's?
Years ago, I got an upset stomach after eating at one of these restaurants, but now I think it is time to try them again. Nothing to do with them as I also could not eat fish from two famous fish companies either. Good review.
Same thing happens to me when I drink something icy cold with fried foods. I pay dearly for hours afterward, so maybe my dessert should be Pepto Bismol LOL

Had this meal after watching your review. New Cap D. opened near me, It was good, next time I'll get catfish. Plus got shrimp as add on, good too. They have sweet tea, it's really sweet! Thanks for posting reviews! One of my side was corn on cobb, it was full size, butter everywhere. Delicious! But have extra paper towels!

Not really.
If you buy fish from the store "fresh", it definitely should not SMELL like fish. Fresh fish will have no odor and will not taste "fishy", it will have a light, fresh, clean taste and texture.

I've never been to Capt D's. We have LJS in our area. I assume they are very similar. Looks good to me. Love fried fish.

What's the difference between batter dipped and country fried?
Tyler Joseph Smith batter dipped is thicker and usually has more flavor, country fried is basically a breading. Think of it as McDonald’s chicken nuggets are batter dipped and Wendy’s and Burger King’s are breaded
I get the 3pc fish almost every time I go, I do not say batter dipped I just ask for the 3pc meal.
There was a captian D’s in my area but they went out of business I would have to go all the way to Greensboro to eat there I’m more of a broiled fish person I don’t like fried fish.

Jilly L their $5 meals are usually the stuff people don’t want. Like the baked fish, chicken tenders or popcorn shrimps. You go here for the batter dipped fish and that always costs more.

Last time I went to Captain D's it couldn't even be called food it was so horrible and they ignore my requests for a refund. Until I get my $6 back I will be telling the world how nasty horrible their so-called food is.
