I have heard the first time 3 months ago that the BEP is moving away from "error/star notes." But taking out sequential numbered notes is new to me. Since, I've been made aware of this, I have been purchasing sequential/star notes in BEP sealed packs. Honestly, the BEP is taking the fun out of collecting error notes. Please, keep viewers apprised of any news. Thanks...
I've been collecting them for a long time. I have new and old notes crisp and uncirculated. 1, 5, 10, 20, 50s and 100s. Have 10 consecutive $20 bills that came out a a fresh bank strap 17 years ago. I'm always on the hunt for them.
I started collecting bills, haphazardly, several years ago. I usually get them from banks but sometimes I will buy them if the price is right. I have a bill wallet that holds star notes, silver certificates (blue), US NOTES ( usually in $2s) and several others that are collectible for one reason or another. I was take my collections to my coin clubs and give presentations with them. This got me a little bit of notoriety and people would bring their notes in for me to appraise and maybe even give them a value for them. More often than not they would bring in bills for me to buy and on occasion put them on an auction table, which I would eventually wind up buying. I could go on but I have so many different types and certifications that I could go on for hours but I’ll end it here and if anyone has any questions just write me a comment and I’ll try to get back to you.
Very well put together video. I'm a little over a year from being 70. Just like the comment below, I look at all of my coins and notes after going through the cashier. My wife knows that "I don't have any pocket change" so they will give me back at 80 cents in coins. I have coins in jars, on my desk, on the floor (remember, I'm older, the floor is a mile away). I got a star dollar note a few months ago and a 1943 Nickel. So, I look. Most likely I shall find something and only have a few years to buy that corvette. Anyhow, I enjoyed the video. Good luck.
LOL...Keep all that spare change! That's nice that you found a couple of interesting pieces. Good luck saving up for the corvette! That's for watching; I appreciate it!
Thank you for your information. I appreciate that I’m new to the currency collecting coins and paper so that sucks to hear but I’m glad I did. Thank you.
This rumor has been out for a while now. You can find the reference to the non-sequential serial number machines in the BEP 2023 capital investment report. Somewhere, I can't find it now, the BEP had said that star notes aren't going anywhere soon. I guess we can take that with a grain of salt, they are the government. It will take time to get the new machine's, install them and then work the bugs out. Right now, this is all speculation, albeit probably true. I'd imagine people will start hanging on to them though. I personally only keep the 'sheet' ones and not the 'regular' ones.
@@xd-metal9026 There are two types of star notes, Sheet & Regular. If it's a regular note that means the whole stack of 100 bills was replaced. If it's a sheet note, then just the one sheet was replaced. You have to look them up to determine which one it is. There is a couple star note lookup sites where you can do this. The sheet notes are usually low print runs and more collectable.

I have several. Here’s a fun way to start looking, go to the bank and buy a stack of 1s. I think it’s 50-100$ now it might be obnoxious to have to get rid of then normal ones after but many dollar stores and gas stations often have “need 5s n 1s please” signs so u can easily take those 1s to them to turn them back into 20s once you take out any old bills or star bills.
