- Searching $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 Bills for Star Notes and Fancy Serial Numbers! I picked up $4,000 worth of federal reserve notes from a local bank hoping to find more star notes and/or fancy serial numbers in this circulated stack of bills.
I just got into currency searching recently so I am learning as I go. I appreciate any feedback or comments you may have!

I hope you enjoy this hunt with me. I was super happy to find out that the $20 star note I found is pretty rare, or at least more rare than not, according to the research i did on it. It is actually part of a 640,000 print run and it was a solid find. The $5 star note is not rare, but still a star note!

Stacks of 100s. 💵😩 I got a 20.00 dollar bill with a star note and i tried selling it at Ebay but they suspended my account for showing pictures of Tupac released as well as the unreleased photos of his friends from News Papers I've gathered as well as Magazines. Jada Pinkett and Marilyn Monroe and Vincent Van Gogh are just a few of the people the ones Pac admired and the one he got close to who is Jada Pinkett. I got the poetry book. What's insane is everything lined up with my age, I was 19 when I bought the Tupac book and Tupac wrote it at 19. And I started buying Pacs music at 15, only one album though..the bootlegg R U Still Down Remember me. And Tupac started rapping at 15. My name is not Mokane Malone. And also if I'm the Tupac in the Multi verse and since he was around in my time...then what the heck happened??? It's as if I was born to fix his mistakes. I don't consider myself a prophet but I bare a slight resemblence to Tupac, I had people telling me wassup Pac. Don't get any ideas, I'm not him. And if u doubt that, then that's on you homie...I loved Pac, God knew this and I loved the lord and his people. So what I was trying to do...was emulate Pac by being myself and doing things differently than he did but I never decided to make an album to be him, not be him but if I did...I would've made a lot of rappers angry...and I would've interfered in Tupac's legacy. If I started rapping people would witness the rebirth of Tupac Shakur all over again. And that's something I couldn't allow.
Its nice to see someone else looks for numbers on the bills. My hunny does all the time. Hes got one on ebay thats all zeros except for the last number which is a 4.

I was doing concessions at my sister softball game and i found a one dollar star note and a bill with 4 4’s in the serial number! i exchanged it out with a normal dollar though. ;)
My grandma got 4 dollars in change at Walmart and I looked through them because why not and I found a 1 dollar star note! I’m so exited!
I started doing this about 3 or 4 years ago now I'm addicted to it I'm always checking my bills and everybody else is too looking for Star notes and unique serial numbers. I have quite a few Star notes in all denominations and several unique serial numbers some are very low. I have 20 Star notes that I got from the bank with sequential serial numbers This isn't a hobby it's a disease. LOL

*In addition, you should ALSO be checking to see if the serial number matches, in BOTH corners.
Bills hunting is great to do and fun to watch, but I really like that you have a variety of bills you went through. Keeps it more interesting!
Star notes or replacement note are valuable. I just sold a 1957 $1star note on eBay for $11.00. You judge. Fun video
I work as a cashier and found an entire stack of $5 star notes.

Hey Robfindstreasure, I love how you set aside the older big face green notes (5-10’s), since they’re no longer made they’re definitely worth keeping both aesthetically and even possibly the serial number/star note runs. All I can say is save the older styles! They’re super cool!
No they are not. It's just a piece of paper. I would immediately find a sucker to buy it. And by some more gold, silver, copper, nickel, or zinc coins. I'm not holding on to no paper. Take a picture of it, print it out, and hang it on the wall.

I picked up some new 50 dollar bills at the bank and two are star notes --- and they are in sequence. One serial number ends in 7 and the other ends in 8. Are these two bills together worth more than the face value ?

As a former banker it drives me up the wall to see money handed to customers that isn’t faced.
one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to cash and not putting the large bills first, I will hold the line up while I face my cash before pocketing it...

Now I could be crazy but I distinctly remember having a 20 dollar star note that had a serial similar if not the same possibly... I remember looking it up and everything finding the same info with the 640,000 run and all. I wonder if you actually ended up getting the one I had... crazy deja vu if not.
Recently found 2-20$ star notes with only a 320k print and total run size. They're near mint. Any clue what they could be worth

Hey Rob. I am an avid currency hunter and noticed something odd on some of the new 2017A 5 dollar bills. The serial numbers on some look like they used different fonts in the printing. One serial number usually top left is normal but the bottom right serial number is thinner ? Wondering your thoughts on this. Error ? Or just the new printing technique ??

I found a $20 star note with a low serial number. I checked on Heritage Auction and there was one with a higher serial number that sold for.......$1110.00. Mine should be worth more.

What difference in value are the star notes from the regular notes ? I have a few American Bill's up in my collection so I think I'll check them for star notes.

I have come across some old 20s 50s and 100s from the 1960s to the 1980s, how would you know if they are worth more than face value? Most are in very good condition.
So what are they worth and where do you take them to sell them? I have a few * notes ive been putting aside for months...

I have a $20 from 1936. figure that was a good chunk of money back then, so I've kept it around for probably 20 years now. They probably should start minting large banknotes again, they'd be pretty useful for large private transactions, stuff like buying used cars and whatnot.
I remember my grandpa's boss always worked in cash, and always in the large denominations. Paid my grandpa with a $1000 bill at the end of every month. Minimum wage wasn't but about $2 back then, so it was a pretty good chunk of money, and since it was cash nobody needed to pay any taxes.

Facts are That Star Notes are a replacement of that same Serial Number - Because it was destroyed - or became worn out - Per Treasury. Joseph Barr Notes are more Valuable... Because of the short Time he was Acting Secretary of the Treasury.
Rob so u think we should only keep star note only or good serial numbers to which one will cost more please let me know
I still currency hunt for star notes and fancy serial numbers... I had over $100 in star notes mostly $1 bills. But i had decided to remove only the most common and keep the low print star notes do to holding to much money. So any star over 1.5 million i don't keep. Same thing with fancy serial numbers. I went from having $200 in collected currency at one point....to only have about $50 of now. I have a mix ladder, two *4 pairs* ... And some good repeaters. As a McDonald's drive thru cashier. I have good and bad days of hunting. I had finally found 3 silver quarters within a week and 2 silver dimes. But haven't had any luck since. I should start coin roll hunting the huh? Lol

You may be missing the truly significant $5 bill . I don’t know the exact date but it goes something like this.
In one year the BPE decided to change the looks and added new security features designed to prevent counterfeiting. But they screwed up real big. They are not allowed to change any section of the bill in a calendar year. But for some reason they decided to completely change the entire face of the $5. . This is not supposed to happen as like I said that they can only change the design of any bill after the new year day. They did not make any type of announcement regarding the bill being changed, so no one really made a big deal. I however did notice and I started collecting the $5 bills , both types of different types. They still haven’t said anything about it and I only had some of the old bills and quite a few of the new designs. In the next few years all they produced were the new designs and again no mention of the changes.

I'm curious to know if you could tell me what website you use to find out their value? After going through my collection of old 2's Series 1928 I actually found 3 star notes. Thought with them being on two dollar notes that they may be rare. Id also be happy to shoot you a few pics if your interested at all... Question. I had a 20 and 50 star note both with 000 and they where not rare. But if u listen to other videos they say 000-0000 are always have more value. What is true....

I have a 1950 star note. I've tried to look up the rarity on the coinstarlookup but it only goes back to the 80s. I even bought a book on currency value yet I still can't find anything on it.

So realistically how much of a premium does the star add? I've been collecting them for a year now and I have a couple hundred in * notes now. Some are pretty old as well. Also, I started passing up all the 00xxxxxxx notes because I assumed 2 0s wasn't really worth it. I guess I'll start saving them again lol

I have a dollar bill as low as 1881 and 1880 numbers, not a star note but low serial number. Which site can I look at to find the value.
Best is eBay - search sold items for low serial numbers - that's what they really sell for.

my wifes sister is a waitress and gets rare bills handed to her all the time. including a 1963 100$ bill star note, a 1935 1$ silver certificate, and a red seal 2$.

I have $100 star note that registers way up in the high red, and it's all the way to the end of the red, & it's in the very decent condition. Is it worth a lot when it registers high like that?
Absolutely Max - I'd fish around on eBay for an accurate estimate - it's what they sell for that matters.
