  • I finally pulled the plug and upgraded my chair mat to a glass one! This one has a beveled edge and make rolling around the desk THAT much easier. It's great for making less friction in the wheels AND in your work. I wonder why didn't I get it sooner? Well, because of the price but I think it's well worth it.

    I use a thin rigid plastic carpet protector bought from Lidl. I prefer plastic as it's virtually indestructible and zero chance of shattering by accident.

      Interesting. The weather here makes it cold enough that my plastic ones crack after a few years of use. I've gone through 3-4 of them already.

    Thankfully I have tiles but I'd surely want something like this if I lived in a place with hardwood or carpet.

      Tiles? Do the grooves between the tiles getting the wheels stuck annoy you?

    • @TheSimArchitect
      @TheSimArchitect Рік тому

      @@BeatTheBushDIY Nope. I barely feel the grooves here but some places might have that problem.

    Interesting product. I don't like the glass mat. I happen to enjoy the friction from chair mats which keep me from rolling back and forth.

      Before trying it I thought exact the same thing. However, this wheel / mat combo gives enough friction to stay in place because all the wheels need about 1" of push before they all get aligned in the same direction to move smoothly.

    If I buy a tempered glass off market would that work aswell? Like a thick table top?! Haha

    • @BeatTheBushDIY
      @BeatTheBushDIY  3 місяці тому

      It might. You need it thick enough so it wont crack under weight. It wont be square-ish, and it wont have tapered edges.

    As a person of healthy weight this might work for you but i think the average american will crack this in seconds

    • @BeatTheBushDIY
      @BeatTheBushDIY  Рік тому

      It can withstand 1000 lb pressure, and warranted against cracks as long as you don't bang metal on it.

      The average adult male weighs 197 pounds, with the delta between their max ideal weight and 197 ranging from 23 to 30 pounds. That's not going to phase this glass on a hard surface. I'm 6'5 240+ and have used glass mats for years on hard surfaces. If you use them on carpet spanning a sag in the floor you could potentially run into a problem, but if that happens it's going to happen whether you're a healthy 165lbs or 200lbs.

      Some have excessive amounts but I remember this product having a reasonable amount considering it was transporting glass.
