  • Stage one pipes the easy way! Using a hardened metal spike and a hammer to pierce a hole in the baffles of a harley sporster 883R 2008 model. Deeper exhaust note with out too much volume increase. This is what a real Harley sounds like!

LOL I love how smashing a hole in your exhaust is considered a mod.

A set of slip ons and no damage to the original mufflers would have been better imho. Better note and the originals could be used to pass any future noise test requirements. Slip ons wont wont break the budget either.

I drilled 3/4 inch holes in the baffle on my 04 sportster 1200 instead of pounding a spike through them. It sounds pretty good! I made a video with the sound so you can hear it.

After watching this video, I went to that hardware store and got a steel rod and hammer. I made a point on the end of the rod so I can make the holes. I just did this today to my 2012 Harley Davidson iron 883, and it sounds amazing now! Before the mod it sounded quiet and girly, now it sounds like a mans bike! I rode it around for about a half hour to see if it made a difference in performance, it actually feels like I have MORE torque in low and high speeds. I don't know... I think this is pro

Lol, damn this was a long time ago. I don't even have that 883 anymore. However, about a month later I ended up getting a 2 inch metal hole saw drill bit and cut out the baffles entirely. Made a world of difference 😎👍

So is he just hammering a hole into the baffle? I've just bought a street bob and quiet sound is killing so any chance of a full run down for me please guys so I can attempt it? Thanks

A long for metal drill bits same result use small easy starter hole to start, then the bigger drill bit. May be safer, as POUND in like that could shear off the baffle holding bolt.

See same on Engines and Speed comment where he drilled instead.

I think this is probably the best mod you can do without taking the whole baffle out, especially after reading all the bad effects it can have on the engine.

Whats the difference in removing it and putting or dripping holes in it same thing one is just more work and u need more tools

@@TheSevenboy127 Man that was a long time ago. I ended up getting a 2 inch metal hole drill and cutting the baffles out. Sounds SO much better, didn't hurt the bike at all. It didn't really make it run rich either, after a few months I checked the spark plugs and they were fine.

@@jnorman1986 yikes lol definitely has effect on motor brother i build harley motors and back pressure is totally needed if not why would tbey unstall them from the factory for cars and motorcycles

@@TheSevenboy127 I can see why people think that, but honestly when it comes down to it, it's all about comfort (do you want a quiet ride, comfortable noise level etc.). In the process of suck, squeeze, bang, blow of the engine; back pressure doesn't equate to much. It truly has little effect on the engine, other than some would believe that it could make the engine run lean, which wears down the spark plugs. I checked and everything was fine. Just my personal experience.

if you don't have the money to buy an aftermarket exhaust for your harley, you should'nt own or ride a harley!

    • @JackePaperDroid

This goes against the entire history of harley modders...who didn't just buy aftermarket parts and have a 'technician' install them like you do...they made or modified everything by hand, and it wasn't alays pretty.
      Stop saying stupid shit.

If you're not willing to get your hands dirty modifying your sportster, you shouldn't own a sportster. If you like the look of the stock pipes, this is an easy way to get more grunt out of them. You also have more control over the volume if you start with a small hole and work your way up until you have the sound you want. Harleys shouldn't be exclusively for dentists and trust fund babies. 🙄

harley isn't for sissies like you bruh. a man's bike is man's bike and he can do whatever he wants with it.
