- Did you know about the hundreds of homeless children in Pattaya?
Today we visit Father Ray's Orphanage to see what can be done about the homeless child crisis in Thailand. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a 25 minute drive inland from Pattaya Beach to the darkside. Fortunately we were greeted with the warmest reception from the staff of the Father Ray Children Village and the 120 children and young people. We took a tour of the site, saw the exceptionally clean homes with beautifully made beds, laundry all washed and ironed and spotless bathrooms and kitchens. We were guided around by Mr JoJo the site manager and Social Worker as well as long term residents Tun Tun & Ben.
Whilst it's true that there is a scary number of children in Pattaya and greater Thailand living in precarious situations - the young people here appear to be getting world class / industry best-practice service, support and accomodation here. Congratulations to the Father Ray Foundation for supporting these marginalised and homeless children and teenagers as well as operating a School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a school for young people with disabilities, a school for people with intellectual disabilities, and a day care centre for children who's parents have to work each day and can't afford child care.

I have visited the father Ray orphanage in Pattaya while on vacation - I made a donation of snacks and toys also a small cash donation - it was an heart warming experience meeting some kids.

As I am local to Pattaya, I will visit the foundation sometime (currently it's raining and closing in an hour), while my funds are currently tight, I can still look into volunteer work and maybe teach the kids guitar, as my way of saying thanks to the people. (Cheers, Mike)

Father Ray was a remarkable man, what a beautiful orphanage, looking after all the children, educating them in all aspects, thanks Sam for giving us such a in-depth documentary

Hi Sam & LeLe & Ramsey This was very emotional video to watch, congratulations for showing some love to these poor unfortunate children and showing them that there is people who care ad love them Sometimes in our own life we get stuck I think we could all try ad help others less fortunate than ourself. I was planing to visit one of the orphanages in Pattaya on my last trip to Thailand but unfortunately my sister passed away so I had to return home to Ireland. I was planing doing this trip, so it was great to see your video and the generosity of Ramsey and his partner send him my regards please. I will definitely been making sure I do this on my next trip. I have often wondered what happens to unwanted kids from the sex industry, today with 43,000 prostitutes, and many men flying in and out, you would think there would be many more . Are birth control and abortion more accessible now, or do they take the kids back to their parents in the country?
I believe these days Child Protection here is far more robust than it was in the 90’s.
Offenders are prosecuted and the government tries to place abandoned children first with relatives and then consider NGO’s as a second option

There is another charity for children in Pattaya, "Hands to Hands". This organization offers daytime care for poor children in Pattaya so they have a safe environment to stay in. The organization also does visits to the local jail.
