I Was Invited to Cook & Eat With a Hmong Family in a Lao Mountain Village

- After a jungle survival adventure in the Lao rainforest with the Hmong, we had caught a lot of fish so I was invited to cook and eat with a Hmong family in a Lao mountain village or hill tribe in Xaysomboun province near Vientiane Laos. I tried all kinds of traditional and authentic Hmong and Lao foods and learnt how they are cooked. I also got to see Ked's traditional Hmong home and see how the Hmong tribal people live off the land everyday. Come and join me while I experience the real Hmong culture and hospitality here in Laos.

This was very enjoyable. I love videos like this so I can see how other people live. The raw fish with lime and chilis is kinda like Mexican ceviche! The lime cooks the fish.

Wow! Thanks again for sharing that marvellous experience with us! I really felt there, the sounds, the tastes, the friendship! God bless!
Love the video! I would love to try some of those dishes! Everyone makes it differently. Barely eats raw fish in the US. Only eat salmon and tuna at restaurants. Probably going to try something like that ❤️

Thanks man!
Traditionally, the men always eats before the women but since coming to the USA, things have changed and now the women and men eat together now. But on special occasion like wedding or ceremonies, the men will always eat before the women on the table.

So authentic. We love this video!!!
Looks delicious so fresh
I want you to go out to the woods and find the jungle hmong people and do a great documentary about them..
Much loved
I can't help feeling that he wasn't totally honest about why the women weren't joining u. Presumably they did all this for a fee and the meal at the end was part of the gig. Their family weren't on the pay role and it would have been awkward with the language barrier. Your friend would be the designated interpreter and it would have been stressful on top of all the other stuff he had to do. Totally understandable and it was sweet he was slightly embarrassed and was scrambling for an answer. Top bloke and great video!
If you lost in the Hmong village, you'll fell so much more comfortable than you lost in any other ethnic groups.
You made great friends there.
Awesome 👏
Glad to see you back in Laos, still got this special touch when you make a video, love it.
What piece of adventure in the wild jungle 😮 ! You have some guts man !
And the reward 😋 , cooking with those skills 😍 nice hosts though ; )
Thanks! I enjoyed filming this trip 👍
Looks like Lao food
Got my sub. Let's go
Awesome, thanks bro 👍
It is interesting that their village has power lines. I wonder if there are remote villages without electricity in Laos.
Thanks so much! Laos always feels like a home to us 👍
This video just earned my subscription 👍👍👍
Thank you 🙏
So awesome! ❤
Thank you!
Culture wise for those who do not know, the women usually have their own table to eat or they eat after the men are done.
Don’t know if this is still practice but traditional it is so.
Enjoy watching your in Laos village
Mario support you👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
Wow I see this video I am feeling home
Such an awesome video!
Thank you!!
Your freind is trying his best to answer your questions, but to clarify its part the of the culture for men to eat first and eat together at the table while the women eat separately from the men.
Amazing episode
HI, IT 'S LOOKS YUMMY.🐟🐟🐟🐠🐟🐟🙏👏👏👏😆😆👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
I love watchinf this kind of video..as raw as the fish can be 😃😃😃
Wow the dad knows Russian? That's pretty dope
Wow. The delicious looking fish soup makes really hungry. I am curious about its taste.😀👍👍
Absolutely fantastic videos.
Would you please leave information about your tour and guides...
Would love to experience that.
Thanks....incredible experience....
Thank you! It is not a public tour, we've organized everything ourselves. Although it's possible that it will be a thing for the public in the near future. Stay tuned
Awesome
Definitely, next level, Hmong dinner.
You got a nice food
Making me hungry...
I know you don't like lychee fruit but you tell them I love those 🤣
Looking good and tasting even better, keep it up :)
Thank you!
"this is literally raw" 🐠🐟
Good one ..you sure eat like a Hmong
Nice
To answer your question towards the end of the video. The women usually eat separately in the other room but can eat at the table too.
Love your content
Thanks 👍
The Hmong 's mentality threating the foreigner come to their house like king.
Great hospitality for sure 🙌
I think we do that to everybody
Yes, threating very well
Do you mean “treating?” Cause “threatening” is like harming someone.
@@meekou86 Exactly.
good job
Looks good.
you sound like Australian ...good video
Good food
Careful the raw fish. And I'm hmong. But great vdos. Keep them coming.
Awesome video bro
Thank you 🙏
Hmong foods never eaten raw always fully cooked. This guy he is showing you most of Lao cooking styles.
Love 🙏
Hmong foods are the best!
Great vid. The raw fish that you thought you ate raw isn't really the raw. The acid from the lime & chili peppers cooks it. Onion & garlic are also acidic. Love to see more vids, man.
It’s called ceviche in Mexico same concept. Regardless though you can eat fish raw as well.
Usually Hmong men always eat first & Hmong women always eat last. Some still practice that tradition here in the US. Now.....some families will let the women join in at the table, or sometimes the women will have their own table eating at the same time.
That's only when you do spiritual stuff or something happened men will eat first, but at home when nothing happened everyone eats all.
@@ceciliachang5735 yes at home Is different because that's your family, but when outside family join cook outs and other stuff men chop meat women do all the other stuff cleaning cooking preparing plates and setting dinner tables, while men chill and get drunk. Men eat first while women eat separately. Pretty lame and unfair but that's just how it is lol. It's the culture.
