This doesn't just affect that time of the month this is an everyday struggle fatigue poor concentration Irritability sore vagina bloating back pain 😢 sometimes i dont feel like i wanna live in this body anymore tbh if this is my life now I don't want it! Seeing a specialist at the end of the month hopefully will get some answers 🙏
I have pain throughout the month with an enlarged uterus that looks like I’m 4 months pregnant. There is a deep ache with a pulling sensation. I’m tired of this feeling and not being able to wear anything but sweat pants and dresses in the summer. It’s not fun. I never seem to feel good anymore. I also have a Fibroid, just had my gallbladder out with internal bleeding with another surgery to remove all the blood and my uterus actually hurts worse than the surgery to remove my gallbladder. I also get a lot of pain during ovulation and get ruptured cysts frequently. I feel for you. I’m going to be 50 but I’m not menopausal yet so I don’t know how much longer I can stand this. My Mom didn’t go through Menopause until 53 so that would be 3 more years of pain. I’m thinking about getting a hysterectomy for the pain even though I don’t like the thought of it. I already have Chronic pain from other musculoskeletal issues and adding this to the list is just making me feel so much worse.
I felt u sis..because i have it..my god..i can't thinking straight ...can't consetrate my life either cant go working. the pain happen almost 1 week.. the bleeding is so heavy.. i always depends on medication..that hospital give it to me..
Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) is very effective in treating adenomyosis without surgery. We have a lot of information on this on our website ATLii.com. Good luck.
I was diagnosed at 34. My doctor told me that I had a mild case, the pain was so intense I didn't want to think about a severe case 😟....Right after my diagnosis my doctor asked me if I wanted more kids, I said I wasn't sure, I only had 2 at the time. He said having another baby may improve my condition and give me a much needed break from the constant pain even when I wasn't on my period. Well, I ended up getting pregnant a year later and he was right. No pain during pregnancy. I had a wonderful pregnancy and delivery and almost no pain throughout the month and during my period. I had another baby 2yrs later and now I'm almost 3yrs postpartum and my periods are mildly painful, and only last for the first 2 or 3 days of my cycle.....I sometimes forget I was even diagnosed with this condition. I hope it stays this way until menopause
Wow...so when you delivered , you had no bad contractions? Did you have really bad blood clots before you became pregnant? I'm glad you are doing better now ! 💝
Thank you this gives me hope I’m 28 only one son I have had trouble with my stomach and periods it’s gotten pretty tough just got the news I have this . I get dizzy as well :(
Wow..I think I have this I get extremely sharp pains I don't know where even when I'm right on my cycle. I'm always bloated and gassy all the time. I just want to see the doctor and they said my endometrium was thickened and want me to come back in 2 months to see why or I need to get a hysteroscopy to figure out what's the reason. I absolutely want more kids and that does make me feel so much better. Thanks btw I'm 34 almost 35 few days.
I have been dealing with pain since my first period. I was told that's just how your period is. I felt like I just had to deal with it. Never was told anything was wrong with me. Now at age 40 a doctor today told me what I have, Adenomyosis. I'm so mad because being told nothing is wrong with you started making me feel like I was crazy. Like it was all in my head. The pain was in my head but no, it wasn't. How can so many doctors for so many years not know what was wrong? This doctor found it within seconds. I feel like my youth was taken from me. I missed out on events, memories because the pain would knock me down and all I wanted was to be in bed. Shame on those doctors for not doing what they promised to do. Shame!
I’m so sorry you had to go through that for so long and you feel like your youth was taken from you. I’ve just been diagnosed with this at age 17 so hopefully they can help. Wishing you all the best :)
I am so sorry you went through that me at age 32 I first found out that this isn’t normal either. The only option they gave me was Hysterectomy and hormonal pills I want neither.
I was diagnosed this year, I am 39 years old.. I have been dealing with the pain since 27ish and same here i was diagnosed late.. I wish I had known this sooner and blaming the past doctors i consulted and told me nothings wrong with me 😪😪
I was told the very same thing by doctors. They would ignore me or brush my statement off as if I never said it. Finally, I was diagnosed at 34 after complaining for over 10 years. The only options that were given is birth control which doesn't work for me or a hysterectomy 😬
They say they don't know what causes it. I'll be honest. Mine was caused by an abortion preforating my uterus and increased estrogen via soy and steroids for a painful injury. Avoid anything that increases estrogen. Especially steroid shots for the back! When my estrogen is low I do not have the constant bleeding, bloating, and pain. A keto diet works WONDERS. Try it! You'll lose an average of 2 pounds a week and less belly fat means less pain! They don't know how to cure it except via hysterectomy so I had to be my own doctor with great success!
I had Adenomyosis...I had hysterectomy too. Adenomyosis is a poorly understood disease. I hoe more people will know about it and can be more understanding.
I was just diagnosed with adenomyosis I am 34 and have been told my whole life that this all was normal. I had to be admitted to the hospital for severe bleeding and a bunch of stuff unrelated to that but they did and ultrasound and found it. They also think I may have pcos and Hashimoto’s and both can effect the uterus as well so we will see. I am so glad though that I finally have answers and not being treated like I am crazy.
I've suffered with debilitating heavy cycles for years.. And every year it had gotten worst!! I bleed heavy, pass huge clots and always bedridden!! To describe it. It's like being in labor every month with contractions!! I just been diagnosis with Adenomyosis with suspected Endo...I was put on DEPO last year and next month will make a year in May!! At this point I'm still experiencing pain even though it's dulled down .. It's still there, I get the sharp stabbing in my ass and fatigue etc. I was taking so much ibuprofen every single day just to get up and do normal activities that I developed ulcers... Now I'm scheduled for an MRI and afterwards I'm ready for a hysterectomy.. This disease has had me in an emotional rollercoaster. Not feeling like I'm being taken seriously, ppl that think I'm just dramatic and even physicians who dismiss you as "oh it's just your period!" When in reality, this is NOT NORMAL!! I thank the physicians who research and actually take time to listen to their patients and educate themselves about this condition!
Bleeding like you describe is obviously not normal and if you're being ignored or dismissed by your doctor, find a new doctor who will listen ! No one knows your body better than you. Just because the bleeding was going on for a long time does not make it normal. Good luck to you.
That is what I had...my pain was so bad to where I couldn't even walk...I would loose so much blood ...I needed blood transfusions....I finally had a hysterectomy...everything good now
This is what they say I have right now and the pain has been unbelievable😭.. They surgically removed several polyps a week ago but I’m still bleeding and still in pain,I go to my post of appt in a few days and anxious to hear what my doctor feels is the next step🙏🏽
As a sufferer of Adenomyosis I should let some of you know who are maybe waiting to be diagnosed that it’s a lonely road. So few doctors even understand what it is. I don’t know any other women with this illness and it’s horrible to live with it can make you rather emotional at times. I was diagnosed at 29 after nearly 2 decades of long suffering. I get severe pains in my pelvis, lower back and sometimes near the groin. Bleeding is heavy etc. I have an IUD that I want to remove after 3+ years. It’s made me gain a lot of weight (I was already a bigger girl due to having PCOSD), made my hips spread and has caused me to experience migraines and sciatic tenderness. It might help some women but it doesn’t for all of us. Being single and unmarried helps I guess because it can affect fertility and your sex life also. I really hope that those of you with it haven’t got to suffer as I do.
I had severe blood clots for a year. Got pregnant and my period stopped for a month. Then spotting started. At 5 months pregnant , I lost my baby. I had excruciating pain during my periods. I had the mirena removed 2 years earlier. I think it messed up my cycles and pregnancy. 😰
Cynthia Angelie I’m sorry to hear about all of this. I may well have: I have since had mine removed and I have less pain, less strain and my emotions are more balanced!
@@Sparkle132 : All of the female doctors at my clinic had Mirena. I never gained any weight or even felt any side effects. My mom always warned me about trying to stop my cycle completely in between pregnancies. I don't even know if the iud was the problem because doctors did tests and told me everything was fine. I never got pregnant when I was on the pill or had side effects either. It's a mystery .... I'm happy that you are doing much better! 💝
Cynthia Angelie I think synthetic hormones can work ok with some people and cause problems for others. There’s never a one size fits all sort of thing with this illness. I hope your situation improves also.
My dear trust me, you are not alone. I got diagnosed last, I knew nothing about the disease and when my Gynea told me about it, and to research it. I was shocked to find that there are basically no treatment option available that has worked. The only cure is hysterectomy. My partner and I desperately want another child, but we have been trying. The pain, the blood cloths, the indigestion, I have I had enough of this disease, and I feel that for the sake of the next generation, there need to be a cure ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
Thanks for the video. I just received this diagnosis and I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before, especially having suffered from endometriosis and having had 3 laparoscopic surgeries for it. I have heavy bleeding as well as extreme pain. I am on hormonal treatment but I can’t imagine having an IUD when I already constantly feel like something is stabbing my uterus. I would immediately want to blame any pain on that😫
I'm 23 and was diagnosed and have just been told to have kids to get rid of the pain :( I don't even have a boyfriend and only just started studying a degree!
After months of near constant uterine pain, having been blown off by 2 docs & told I just had "PMS", (🙄 I'm 38, had 3 kids, I think I'd know). I finally marched into walk-in to request an US. Then a womens health doc suggested Adenomysosis & Rx'd low dose BCP to help rule out/hone in. By day 5 my pain was noticeably better and continues to be most days. I'm only 2 weeks into treatment & I almost feel like a new person. To any docs reading this, please listen! Women are tougher than you think, we know our own bodies & usually know when something's "not right". Nobody should have to ensure prolonged pain BC a doc won't take them seriously.
If those of you would like to know how painful it is to be suffering from adenomyosis, it is like giving birth every month going through that labor pain again and again. 😭
They had to pick me up in an ambulance. I was in so much pain screaming all the way to the hospital and inside the hospital from the pain. I felt like I was being stabbed.
@@emmaalvarez1617 yep it really is that painful. I had an ambulance aswell on one occasion for a period 😮. Thank god for gas and air. It was like Labour pains but without the gaps in between each contraction. Horrendous 😢. I have and iud and a tens machine as my best friend now. It’s such a shame it takes years before a diagnosis.
I'm with you this pain isn't fun at all. I had a biopsy. Done today I wanted to kick that man telling me all I should be feeling is cramps. I told him cramps my azz this is pain i know what cramps feel like. I told him you will never know what this feel like. 😢😢
@Atlanta Fibroid Center® yes!!! Dr.Fibroid,I am suffering from Adenomyosis. My question to you should most doctors know about this other procedure you're talking about.? I see him next week and I wanna ask him about it. I'm done with kids
@@lataragordon22 Your gyn will tell you to get a hysterectomy. But in my opinion, that should only be a last resort. UAE is an excellent alternative, but you need to get a 2nd opinion from an Interventional Radiologist who does a lot of UAE. Good luck
I had a d&c curretage in May 2021 and I did it because I was told that I had uterine polyps but now 5 months later I'm still having long periods. Does this condition happen because of d&c procedure please help im just so worried.
Please help! I need help!!!... Soon my Hemoglobin was at 5 and been needing Help to stop from needing Blood transfusion. Very well explained. Thank you!...
mmmm doc, in my case, I just been diagnosed by Adenomyosis few days ago, because of nonstop bleeding which start from spotting till light bleeding than the blood liquid is just like broken water tap which keep leaking like always pees. but I don't have any others syndrome like you said heavy pain. mine is like mild cram on below stomach, and most significant one is blood leaking nonstop.....
Doc I also diagnosed of Adenomyosis...I dont have severe bleeding but severe pain that even pain reliever is not working anymore..and operation is the last option.but I want to have a children in the future..if I will not choose operation do I feel same pain during pregnancy ?
I don't have a menstrual cycle any longer, I was diagnosed with andonomyosis. I also don't have pain down below, so I don't know what next to do with this diagnosis other than getting my physical once a year and go from there.
If I slow down bleeding for a little bit ( I have been bleeding for a hole year straight) and in pain but when I slow down the bleeding the pain increases 3xs more , I have not been diagnosed but do others experience this it's a very deep pain and all arround the pelvis and deep in the rectum as well I can't touch any of that area even the area where my tail bone is it hurts Soo bad and all down my thighs . Does anyone else experience this kind of pains ?
I had an MRI which revealed "innumerable" fibroid tumors and adenomyosis. I knew about the multiple fibroids, but not that there are so many they can't be counted lol, but didn't know about the adenomyosis. Unfortunately, MRI also revealed some other issues (cancer?) outside the uterus, so my planned hysterectomy is on hold for now.
They said that cause is unknown, oh God why did you allow this to happen to some women? I have Adenomyosis and Myoma too just recently and it's so disturbing.
Thanks for the information. I was considering getting UFE for fibroids and had an MRI that discovered Adenomyosis. Glad to know the procedure will work for both because I don't want to have a hysterectomy
The success rate for treating fibroids is a little higher than adenomyosis (90% vs. 75-80%). Still worth doing for adenomyosis as the only other option shown to be effective in the significant majority of patients besides embolization is hysterectomy. Good luck.
@@ellalee3267 I feel great. Stomach went down. Cycles were irregular, but I was bleeding before and during the procedure. Bleeding stopped 3 days post op
i m undergoing the same issue of 6.5 cm intramural fibroid toward the fundus of the uterus ..causing very very high bleeding ... i m literally not able to go out as it suddenly gushed out and big chunk of clots come out.. Hysterectomy is suggested for the definitive cure.. as other options cannot stop other new fibroids coming up in the future. So will the UFE help for the same and protect anyways from future fibroid growth..i m 41 now. Thanks a lot for the details in the video.. it s very clear and has got enough details !
Hello what option did you go for in the end? I have just been diagnosed with Adenomyosis, I have VERY heavy periods with blood clots and the last one lasted for 50+ days, heavy the entire time, I’m now waiting to be seen by the cancer gynaecologist, I’m worried sick! Can someone help me ! I'm 23 years old , I was diagnosed with ovarian failure at 18, haven't had a period since. This year I had massive pain in my pelvis, gas, the worst back pain, and painful sex. I was just told I have multiple cysts and a fibroid. They said I have adenomyosis, I'm scared for my biopsy , I need a good doctor in the New York area ! Please help
Hi! Do you know of any doctors in the central Mississippi area who can perform UAE? (Madison, Jackson, Flowood)I have had fibroids removed in 2016 and 2017. Each time the fibroids have come back and are causing so many problems. In 2017, I also had my left ovary removed during the fibroid surgery because when the doctor started performing the surgery he saw that I had a huge cyst on my left ovary and endometriosis.
The fibroids don't come back that quickly. What happened was something that is all too common. Typically during a myomectomy they cannot remove all of the fibroids and the ones that are left behind grow and often within 3 years (and for you it was sooner than that) the woman's symptoms recur. I would not agree to any more surgery until you got a "second opinion" from an experienced Interventional Radiologist about UAE. I don't know anyone in Miss. that performs UAE but there is probably someone at U of M. We see a lot of patients remotely and they only have to come to Atlanta for the procedure (i.e. initial consult and follow up remotely over the internet). Our website (ATLii.com) has a lot of information on UAE and fibroids. Good luck.

Can Adenomyosis cause cancer tumors? I have an ultrasound sceduled to check for Adenomyosis. I suffer from bloating and digestive problems, are those related symptoms? Thank you for the explination.
Adenomyosis is benign and does not cause cancer. Bloating and digestive problems are non-specific but could be seen in patients with adenomyosis but much more commonly seen with patients with fibroids.
Hi - I have both. I have 2 fibroids...one inside my uterus and 1 outside. And I have adenomyosis. My symptoms are pelvic pain, heavy periods, spotting between periods, urinary issues, digestive issues, and bloating.
@@chastityharris9487 UAE successfully treats both fibroids and adenomyosis. It is important to see an experienced Interventional Radiologist who treats a lot of fibroids. A pelvic MRI is also important to obtain to see everything in more detail than a pelvic ultrasound. Good luck.
Adenomyosis is NOT precancerous. It is a benign, noncancerous condition. Only 2 treatments are effective for adenomyosis: hysterectomy or Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE). Good luck.

I am 48 years old and I have been suffering with Adenomyosis since 2015. I still don’t want to remove my uterus; I also have anemia and I get transfusion and I have tried some of medicine. I had a UFE which it works for almost 2 years, but my menstrual bleeding is back. I don’t know what else to do. I get a lot of pain too. They have Dr in Europa, China, India, etc that do adenomyosis remover from the uterus, but they don't remove the Uterus like here in the USA. In the USA they only want to remove the Uterus and not bother helping the female to keep their Uterus which is sad. They should take classes from the others Dr who know how to remove the Adenomyosis
Adenomyosis is seen in 2 forms: a more common diffuse variety and a less common focal form which is called an adenomyoma. Because it is a more discrete, fairly well marginated mass, it is often mistaken for a fibroid on ultrasound imaging. It's another reason why MRI is the gold standard for the imaging evaluation of the female pelvis.
I’m 35 years old and I’ve been diagnosed with adenomyosis about 4 years ago, I’ve been bleeding everyday for about 11 years now. I don’t have blood clots everyday but when I do they’re huge and thick like raw liver. My Dr recommend a hysterectomy but I refused because I still want to get pregnant. Since my last ultrasound they said my uterus increased to 1000 or the size of someone that’s 5 months pregnant. Is UFE right for me? Do you know anyone in Hawaii that can do this procedure specifically for adenomyosis? I just lost all hope here because of all the ERs and hospitals I’ve been to in Hawaii no one seemed to know what my problem was or that I had adenomyosis. They only know endometriosis here. My OBGYN and PMD aren’t familiar at all with adenomyosis either. I mentioned UFE to to my OBGYN but he didn’t recommend it and my PMD said there’s risk of necrosis and infection that could lead to me losing my uterus, is this true?
Absolutely false. Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) is an excellent nonsurgical alternative to hysterectomy for women with symptomatic adenomyosis. Learn more at ATLii.com
@@Atlii could adenomyosis be the cause of me hemorrhaging during childbirth 05/2022? I just got the call today with this diagnosis from an Ultrasound I had this past Thursday. When I hemorrhaged in 2022, The hospital rushed me into emergency surgery and said they didn’t know the cause of the bleed, but that they put a balloon in my uterus and it stopped the bleed, if that hadn’t worked they were going to do hysterectomy. The hysterectomy was the last option since I was only just turned 29. They told me after all I went through they don’t recommend having anymore babies so I had a tubal ligation 8 weeks pp. Could the adenomyosis also be worsening my Diastasis Recti? My baby will be one 5/19/23 and I’ve always been small figured, but I’ve lost all my baby weight and I still look about 4 months pregnant most days. What would you recommend to do for this? This last pregnancy has really messed me up all over! Please and thank you for your video and hopefully a reply! You’ve gave me the information I needed, as today was the first I’ve ever heard of adenomyosis!
I’ve had 6 children vaginally they say multiple births could be a reason Idk but I do know this pain is worse than having any of my children, it worse than diverticulitis and having polyps removed, this by far is THEEEEE worse WORSE condition/pain I’ve ever had in my life. I’m 47 just found out a few days ago after going to emergency because of pain and a 2 weeks plus menstruation
Excessive bleeding would cause anemia. I'm not a doctor but based on experience any bleeding that crosses 10 days I does go the hospital. The doctor would usually administer depo- provera once no pregnancy is detected.
You do not need a hysterectomy. Hysterectomy often has profound negative effects on women. Hysterectomy should be reserved for cancer and not used for benign conditions like fibroids or adenomyosis. UFE is a much better solution than hysterectomy for either fibroids or adenomyosis. Our website ATLii.com has a lot of info on this. Good luck.
@@Atlii Glad to hear that there’s other ways to than hysterectomy. I just want the pain to go away and to have my waistline back instead of looking pregnant.

@Jenny Montanez Ortega I'm glad you find it funny. So what about Cancer, what do they take for that, someone who has HIV ? I choose those two because I know the two people who were healed by God because they believe God would. BELIEVE. . . accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.
Birth control pills are a common first line therapy for symptomatic fibroids. However, due to added estrogen, the fibroids will grow faster than they normally would and eventually this growth will overwhelm the ability to help any longer.
I took Birth Control for well over 10 years after having 3 kids ..I just found out I have this by looking at an old health report...they never related this to me, I would not have known if I hadn't recently requested my entire medical files ..I always feel a dull ache below..no bloating but lower back pain and sometime pain when sitting .Had history of very heavy periods befor taking the pill.....also found out I have pelvic congestion syndrome ,didnt know that either ,Report say no fibroid tho
Myomectomy is the surgical removal of fibroids. Because adenomyosis is typically diffuse, it cannot be cut out of the uterus like a fibroid (which is like an encapsulated ball).
I had endometriosis, fibroids & adenomyosis, I was suffering. A hysterectomy was my only chance to become pain free.
Is seems as tough i sm heading that route too
I had Adenomyosis...I had hysterectomy too.

Doctor what is adenomyoma? Can you explain what it is please?
Adenomyosis is seen in 2 forms: a more common diffuse variety and a less common focal form which is called an adenomyoma. Because it is a more discrete, fairly well marginated mass, it is often mistaken for a fibroid on ultrasound imaging. It's another reason why MRI is the gold standard for the imaging evaluation of the female pelvis.
